windy town

Stayed for week, really enjoyed the site , shower block could do with some modernisation, Wardens were really friendly and most helpful. Always slightly windy even on sunny days. Good size pitches, would revisit no problem.

Well kept site

We stayed just one night in August 2016. Pitches were large but not reserved even though we had booked in advance, we had to drive around and choose a pitch which was fine as the site was very quiet. Facilities were good, loads of hot water in showers. Dogs were welcome. 15 minute walk to a huge beach, Berrow Beach, very nice but we had such a windy day we could not stay on it for long. Staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

Well kept site with good facilities

We stayed 5 nights at the end of July and really enjoyed it! We prefer a grass pitch and there were many to choose from. All the facilities were spot-on and staff are very friendly and helpful. Although the dog walk was tiny, the dunes and a huge dog-friendly beach is only 10 minute walk away so it doesn't really matter. Shame there isn't a nice pub within walking distance and apart from one, the pubs near the Brean holiday sites are not dog friendly so we ended up getting a taxi to Burnham-on-Sea which was definitely worth it! Overall we had a really good holiday and would definitely return!

Lovely site, Lovely staff

This was a lovely site. The pitches were generous. Toilets, showers etc. spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly. We stayed for 6 nights and will definitely be visiting again.

Great Site but "unlucky" break.

Within an hour of arriving on site I had a fall which resulted in one of the wardens attending and calling 999 for ambulance. After 5 hour wait diagnosed with broken bones in my right shoulder and sent  off with strong pain killers. During this time both my wife and myself were treated with the utmost respect and offered to drive my wife to the hospital whilst I went in the ambulance. Added to this the site was great, we had our 5 year old granddaughter with us and she quickly made friends and used the play area. The shower facilities were good and although the dog walk was a little small it served its purpose pre taking the dog to the beach.  This was also a very friendly site with the other campers also offering to help us if needed. The wardens atttitude obviously rubs off on the campers who use the site.

It's all about the beach!

Just had two nights at Hurn Lane and loved it. Negative points first - a bit of a tricky walk down a road with no pavement to get to the beginning of the dunes then a horrible big road to cross over with cars coming really fast around an almost blind bend. Mums and dads with small children you need to hold little hands VERY tightly and be ready to move QUICKLY! Caravan Club, could you not approach the local council and lobby for a crossing to be put in here? Positive points: As soon as you cross the road you are into 'let the dog off the lead' dog walking territory. A lovely stroll through the dunes and you arrive at what has to be one of the most amazing beaches...ever! You can run, paddle (if the tide is in!) build sand castles, have picnics, the works. Can't think of a better place when the weather is good. PS: As you walk down the road from the site to the dunes there is a house selling home grown veg. I bought courgettes and cucumbers. Fantastic, fresh and truly on your door step! They also had beans and tomatoes.

Pleasant site but not a favourite

We stayed here for 4 nights this July as part of a tour of the south west. We found everything on site clean and the pitches are nice and level. We did find it all quite bland and characterless though. It's also situated amongst lots of holiday home sites (never seen so many in one place!) which we weren't keen on. The best bit was the 15 minute walk to Berrow beach which is dog friendly and enormous. There is a new 'dog walk' on site, it's a tiny pen next to the children's playground which seems a strange location. Overall a little disappointing for us but would be great for families

Sites

Enjoyed our stay here.  Staff friendly and facilities of high standard.  However, have noticed that independent sites with similar facilities charge less than CC sites.  Club membership doesn't seem to offer better value than independent sites.  Many of these sites offer free wifi, where every CC site charges for them.  CC sites don't allow us to reserve a pitch,  independent sites are more accommodating.  We have just returned home after four weeks on various sites.
