Excellent facilities

Lovely site in a good location and easy access, spotlessly clean facilities with level pitches,my only comment is note the zero TV reception without an external aerial lead which you can buy on site for £18.

Freedom at last !

We've stayed here many times before and it's a pretty good site in terms of location, as we tend to visit Wareham, Wimborne, Studland and Corfe. Unable to get into our favourite, Haycraft, we booked here really just as an excuse to get away following what has been a very difficult year for most. Everything you'd expect from a Club site is here and we've no general complaint. However - and I've read through a number of reviews dating back some time to see if we're just being fussy! - there is no doubt that some of the pitches are in a pretty dire state, though some appear to think otherwise! Ours wasn't too bad, to be fair, but those in particular on the far (north?) side of the site are in a dreadful state - threadbare, weedy, very thinly covered in gravel - and we don't know if that's because the Club has become penny-pinching or whether it's a reflection of a busy site. We noticed the same on our last visit some time ago, when we were on a serviced pitch. I don't actually think the Wardens can do much about it without HO deciding to spend some money on gravel etc. but it really doesn't not come up to standard. Compared to Merrose, which we visited in April, the site just doesn't look as well-maintained, though the woodland setting won't help that, I'm sure. Other than that, though, the site is one we know well and which we will visit again.

AMAZING

Lovely location, Staff were so friendly. We had a lovely cream tea from the shop. The shop was perfect, The park was amazing for my children. Other guests were lovely and we have booked to come back again this year. A firm favourite! Thanks hunters moon!

Play area - lesson learned

As is our experience with all sites, Hunters Moon was well maintained and run with very efficient and polite staff. It’s ideally located for trips into the beautiful Isle of Purbeck and surrounding area. Our only gripe was that as relative beginners we and our pitch-neighbours made a mistake of choosing a pitch that was near to the children’s play area. This resulted in incessant noise, bikes being ridden across our pitch, the road being used as a parking space for abandoned scooters, bikes, helmets and the like plus a complete lack of privacy from the children hanging out by the entrance to the space as well as playing ball games in the road. We noted that the parents of the children were all on pitches well aware from the playground (sensible)! Maybe it would be worth advising those without children to avoid such pitches? Some well placed picket fencing could also stop encroachment.

OK

We were first time visitors to Hunters Moon, as in the past we have always gone to Wareham Tourist Park just a mile up the road, which, to be honest, we think to be better mainly because you can access the forest without the fear of being mown down along the road which is generally used by fast traffic. The tourist park also sits further back from the road and doesn't have the council site next door so is much more peaceful and quiet. That said, we were on the grass pitches (102) and when it was quiet it was very nice and peaceful and our pitch was great for the afternoon sun. It is a park ideally sited to visit the likes of Bournemouth, Swanage, Weymouth, Poole etc. etc. though car parking charges have rocketed since we were last there. As with most sites the wardens were friendly and helpful and, as to be expected, the facilities were as good as always, though I do not understand the thought behind not being able to use the showers (I know its Government Guidance so no fault of the Club !!) All in all not our favourite Club site but that's a choice thing rather than it being a 'bad' place.

Nice site

A good site, central location for visiting this part of Dorset. Dog owners note, the dog field is an adequate size to throw a ball for your dog but the fence is very low and poorly maintained. The side nearest the road is also on the verge of falling down, perhaps the recent lockdown could have been a good opportunity to repair ? The walks from site are either along a very busy road with no designated footpath or on a public bridleway from the rear of the site , but very poorly maintained with deep mud/water. We would not recommend either is used unless you are very fit and equipped for such conditions. The site may not own the rear footpath but a bit of maintenance would work wonders.

Site is ok .. but

Site is ok, usual clean facilities. Grass a tad long between pitches hiding dog poo, left by previous members! Road noise can be an issue, but the daily incessant dogs barking from the property to the North of site really frays the nerves. I’d say its audible to half the site. It is a big site, but still seems cramped with rows of pitches having minimum distance between them, like a big housing estate.

Consistent high standards maintained

Hunter’s Moon is one of our favourite campsites and we frequently stay there. The wardens are always friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The site and facilities are kept clean and tidy and it has an overall inviting atmosphere. There are so many places nearby to visit, but because it’s a little way out of Wareham we always take a car as well as our motor home. Looking forward to going back again in May.

Nice site, some issues.

Location is good, ten minute drive to Wareham for food shopping and takeaways, and 30-45 minutes pleasant drive to many worthwhile locations (Poole, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Kimmerage bay etc) and closer to others (Tyneham village, Tank museum etc) Site as usual, clean, well managed by really helpful and friendly staff, nice facilities only missing Dog wash and adequate serviced pitches really. Overall this is well worth a visit, but I have two issues which are not minor. Firstly the WiFi: hopeless, and frankly insulting they even charge anything for it, as it’s totally unusable even next to the aerial. This is an issue because O2 reception is really bad towards the rear of the site. Serviced pitches: so few of them, and despite the extra costs, close to the noisy road. This is a bitter pill to swallow considering the premium nature and cost. It’s a shame because in all other ways it’s just as good as expected!

A great return after a few months of lockdown!

We had a lovely stay for a few days to wake up the caravan from its winter slumber. A very welcome reception and Covid safe processes with all facilities except the showers open. Very clean and quiet site with great walks and countryside on the doorstep. Thank you again and see you again sometime :)
