Stayed at Henley club site for 9 nights, location to Henley is good although on a very busy road, the walk took us between 10 and 15 minutes. The site is looking tired compared to other club sites and certainly to the site next door, road noise is very obvious even after a good few nights traffic races up and down the road. Pitches were a decent size their were no fully serviced pitches Wi-Fi and tv reception was rubbish even using the tv connection point on the bollard. we have a satellite dish on our Motorhome but there are too many trees to get a signal. Showers and toilets were clean and tidy reception team were welcoming and helpful. The bus stop is just outside Swiss farm site next door and a good train service from Henley to London. If we were to visit the region again we would stay at the site next door bigger more modern free Wi-Fi swimming pool and good tv reception we feel that the club need to modernise sites like four oaks to keep up, otherwise will fall behind but overall enjoyed our stay Henley is a beautiful place to visit as was Marlow.
Lovely site in an excellent location
We stayed one night in June 2023 arriving in the early afternoon. The welcome at reception was warm and friendly and the site was very well kept with immaculate facilities. We had a grass, no awning pitch which was level and firm.
The location is on a main road so there is quite a lot of traffic noise but it does die down in the evening and overnight. However the upside is a location that is superb for visiting Henley. If you are able to walk a couple of miles then it is an easy stroll into the town and back. It is possible to walk along the main road or after a short distance lookout for a signposted path that takes you down to a riverside path. The town has lots of coffee shops and cafes. I can recomend the Chocolate Cafe which has riverside seating and lovely cakes and coffee.
This was an overnight stop for us enroute to somewhere else but I'm sure we will return.
Great site for access to Henley
Stayed here for 2 nights on way up to Hertfordshire. Lovely site with great flat walk into Henley. Unfortunately last week was too hot for us to really explore the area apart from a walk into Henley & along part of the Thames but that was lovely. A slight negative was I thought it was quite tricky to find how to access the grass pitches (that’s what we had booked) which were all located around the edge but were kind of behind the hard standing pitches & it wasn’t clear to see where you accessed them from. Also the dog walk area is tiny but at least there is one I suppose. You can hear the quite busy road from the site but that didn’t worry us. But a nice site & look forward to returning & exploring the area more when it’s not so hot!
Dated, dated, dated
I briefly visited this site around 17 years ago when a friend parked their motorhome there. I was very impressed with the layout of the site. Newish to motorhoming, was very excited to book to stay there a few weeks ago. Goodness it has changed. And not for the better.
The Positives:
Location - a lovely flat walk into Henley on Thames
Staff - quite friendly
Not So Positives:
They don't pick up the phone until 1pm. That is ridiculous. What is we had a query/issue the morning we were due to arrive. It isn't hard to have the phone forwarded to a mobile if they don't want to sit in the office.
Layout of site is chaotic. For too few hard-standing pitches and too many weirdly positioned grass pitches in the middle of the hard-standing pitches.
It was a mad scramble at 1:50 pm to find a spot. There were already loads of customers driving around looking for a pitch. Not many left even that early in the afternoon.
We ended up with one close to the road and the road noise (I know they can't help it) is quite imposing.
Toilets very old. They were clean but dated and old fashioned.
Our own fault. I booked a hard-standing pitch with electric. Just presumed it would have water/grey waste. Must have been spoilt at other sites. They don't have any fully serviced pitches. That isn't OK in this day and age.
We had come down a night early and stayed next door at Swiss Farm. We used to camp there years ago and didn't love it. Not the best showers/toilets etc. Wow has it changed. It was fantastic. I think that didn't help our mood when we turned up at Henley Four Oaks and felt it was not up to CAMC standards that we have come to expect.
We had two more weekends booked there with friends this year. I cancelled them both even though I lost my deposit on one of the weekends.
We won't be returning.
Excellent Last minute choice
We ended up at Henley Four Oaks after being totally unhappy with another site about 20 minutes away. We checked out of that one and just needed somewhere else close by.
We booked in really late on a Bank Holiday weekend (about 6.30pm on the Friday) and arrived after 7.00pm, but were made to feel so welcome by the friendly and helpful staff. Only a couple of pitches were left, so we picked the largest one opposite the offices and despite the road noise that others have complained about, we had a really nice peaceful evening. We didnt really notice the traffic noise and would have stayed for another couple of nights if there was room. Sadly, the site was fully booked due to the Bank Holiday.
Facilities were very clean, as was the site, and the internet was super fast. Although we hadn't planned to stay at the site, we will now due to this positive experience.
Fantastic Site
We have just returned from a long weekend and will definitely be returning. The staff were lovely and friendly from the moment we arrived. The facilities were nice and clean. Yes there is road noise but it didn't disturb us at all. We cannot fault this site at all, the location is perfect for exploring Henley and the surrounding area. In our opinion this is a far nicer site than Swiss Farm.
Perfect location to explore Henley on Thames and surrounding area
As stated by other reviews the site is located on one of the main routes into Henley so there is some road noise. We opted for a pitch furthest away from the road and were more than happy. Facilities are excellent with a very clean toilet/shower block and the site staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Literally a fifteen minute walk into Henley were a walk along the river is a must. Plenty of shops nearby including a tesco store on the Reading Road. If we're ever in the area again we will return. AAAAAA+++++++
The Most Unfriendly Club Site So Far!
The cones and chains blocking the entrance, removed minutes before 1pm was the start of a very unfriendly welcome which continued throughout any interaction with the two ladies in the office during our five night stay here. It was what you would expect at the end of a long season, not the start!
The site was unkept, and the traffic loud. Dated toilet block, but at least clean.
I would advise everyone who stays at Four Oaks, to go take a look at Swiss Farm 5 minutes walk down the road. Very friendly, well kept, new facilities, great pool, huge dog walking area and great pitches , most importantly, little traffic noise !
Great site for a getaway.
Just come back from Henley Four Oaks, our very first caravaning trip! The site is great, the staff very helpful, so were our neighbors. The amenities block is kept extreamly clean. We were three pitches from the barrier release point and were not disturbed by cars leaving early. This probably depends on who is staying at the site. You do hear some road noise but even though we are light sleepers it did not disturb us. We will be back!
Great location
Spent four nights at this site. Yes, as previous reviews have said, there is road noise but you can see from the map where the site is located, so it's no surprise - to be honest, being motorcycle fanatics it didn't bother us at all, although we were at the back of the site which softened it slightly. The site is beautifully located with just over a mile flat walk into the town, lovely walks along the Thames with lots of choice of eating places - our favourite was the Chocolate Cafe which had riverside tables or inside to eat, the menu is vast and absolutely delicious and the staff were all very friendly, they also allow dogs inside. If you want a chippy, head for Uppal Fish & Chips, round the back of Waitrose in a converted house - delicious, huge portions but be warned it only takes cash, so go prepared! We were very lucky and had lovely weather for our stay, so walked into Henley every day with the dogs and explored the (very high) Thames. In the grotty weather I'm not sure the walk along the main road would be so appealing. Facilities clean and well maintained, lots of information available, friendly and welcoming staff and the cleanest and most well laid out site shop I have every come across - top marks wardens! We will definately return.
