A word of warning to motorhomes staying at Hebden Bridge. On arrival my husband went to fill up the water tank at the Motorvan service point. As with many of the club sites, the drinking water points are situated on the wrong side for most UK built motorvans. This has never been a problem on other sites as we simply turn the van around against the one way traffic. At Hebden Bridge, the warden came across and stated we had to turn back around to fill up. He allowed no one to face the wrong way. My husband explained his water hose was not long enough to reach across the other side of the van to fill, we only have a 5 metre hose. Not the warden’s problem. In accordance with the rules of Hebden Bridge, my husband turned the van back around and I helped him to fill the water tank using a watering can that we always carry. My husband has a serious heart condition, mobility problems and is registered disabled. Luckily I was still around as normally by this time I would have disappeared taking the dogs for a walk after the long drive, this is not something he should have done by himself. There is nothing either in club handbook or club website to state Motorvan owners may need an extra long water hose. Is this a new club policy?
What a shame
Lovely, well maintained site, no shower or toilet block but aware of that prior to booking. Great location for Mytholmroyd & commuting to Hebden & Sowerby Bridge. Lovely, scenic area with good walks. Lady warden is very pleasant & helpful. Sadly, the gentleman (& I use the term very loosely) is a grumpy, rude individual whose main mission seems to be waiting to pounce on customers who he believes are in breach of club rules. As a full time motorhomer & a frequent user of club sites, I fully accept the ‘rules’ are there for the benefit of all. However, there is a way of conveying this to people & sadly his manner is unacceptable. This was my second visit to the site & both times I have found him to be rude, unapproachable & grumpy. A customer awareness course may help or perhaps a personality transplant ! What a shame, I will not return.
Small and friendly.
Only our third trip as caravanners and all on club sites, this did not disappoint. Really nice welcome, chatty friendly and a big smile. Explained why the pitch is selected for us, due to small site and busy at weekends. Not a problem for us as any pitch on the site would have been suitable.
Hebden Bridge is a lively market town with local businesses and lack of national chain shops a plus. It gets busy at weekends as people travel from all over to have a drink/food in the many establishments available. Nice market on the Saturday we was there and plenty of small craft type shops to spend in.
The 901 bus is outside the gates into the middle of Hebden and will also take you a couple of stops up the road to the Robin Hood pub on your way back. Walked 10-15 minutes to the pub on the Friday and highly recommended for a large selection of reasonably priced drinks and excellent food. If you like pies it's homemade heaven all cooked freshly to order and friendly staff. Booking recommended.
Our pitch probably the furthest from the office, had for the can't live without wifi, excellent speed. Not sure if it's part of the free rollout across club sites, but BT at log in would suggest it is. 80mbps when tried at 4.00am when waking at the usual time (managed another couple of hours when realised it wasn't a work day) and a quick look at the morning news as people stirred and logged in gave us 15mbps, plenty enough to stream. Away from the tinterwebs for a few days is welcome to us, but realise for many it is important, especially with children.
Overall a great short break on a great little site.
Poor customer service
When getting to site we was approached by the site manager. He was very rude towards my mother as we was in different vans.
No man should speak to a lady like that and he should be ashamed of him self.
I wouldn’t be going back to this site I think he need to go on some training. Very poor customer service I think some mangers forget we are still paying customer.
Had better service in mc Donald’s !!!
Beware B6138
B6138 from the south to the site, it the worst road for towing a caravan, enter the site from the north.
Great site, friendly welcome but no toilet block.
Great site friemdly welcome.
The site is a 15 min walk down into Mytholmroyd or up to the robin hood pub (great food by the way).
The But is that I didnt read the small message saying that this site has no toilet block - which was fine as we like others are self contained.
Perhaps its just me but £24.50 (first night) and £29.50 for the second is expensive for a pitch without facilities. (2 adults and pitch). It was fully booked this w/e so why charge less!
3rd and 4th night spent at CL Rooley farm, couple of miles away. Same facilities same great welcome and £16/ night. Views were fantactic too.
Very quiet enjoyable stay though.
Lovely site with lovely wardens
I went here recently for one night, to familiarise myself with my new motorhome. I am recently widowed and although we'd had a large motorhome as a couple, all the technical stuff was my husband's domain. So when I downsized the van I had to learn everything from scratch. This visit was to enable me to feel confident that I knew how to set up and use my van comfortably.
I arrived to a lovely warm welcome from the wardens, Linda & Peter and I explained that I was new to the solo motorhome life. They were both very friendly and offered whatever help they could give if I needed it. They were both really happy, friendly people and they made me feel like I wasn't an idiot for not knowing stuff! As it turned out, I managed without any hitches but I was reassured by the wardens right from the get-go which was a great relief to me in my novice state!
I would recommend this site for peace & quiet and for walking; nearby Hebden Bridge is a lovely stroll away along the canal. Local pubs do lovely food and local shops & cafes are perfect for holiday needs.
Return Visit
We have recently returned from another visit to one of our favourite and local sites.
We stayed on a non awning pitch backing onto the river, our only soundtrack was bird song and running water.
We did get the train to Halifax and visited piece hall had a lovely day and lunch then train back to hebden bridge for a couple drinks then bus back.
We called in at the local Indian takeaway for a menu, this is where you need to take note, food ordered and delivered only to find the cost was more than the menu stated, upon delivery we were told that prices had risen and no free delivery anymore on the upside food was lovely, so please be aware if ordering check the cost.
Buses run from outside the site to most areas or bus connections.
This did not spoil our weekend will return again to this hidden gem if we can get in due to its popularity.
Peaceful and lovely area
Found this to be a peaceful and tidy site with good pitches and enough room. A small toilet block would be most useful. A note on the Access could be made that caravans avoid the satnav road access as this runs to a railway bridge tunnel that only takes 6’ wide transport and we had to reverse back down with a 8 foot wide caravan and 27 foot long twin axle. Not ideal and apparently others have been caught out and were directed to the turning over the bridge prior to this access road.
The Wardens were very helpful with an issue in our caravan which we eventually sorted. Thank you
We will definitely come back to this site.
Fabulous location
First stay at this site and love it! It's my favourite camc site now!
Very well set out. Clean and tidy.
Bus stop outside. Great village with pubs, cafes shops within a mile walk. 2 pubs the other direction. A nice walk along the river. Lots of walks straight from the site.
