This was our first venture into caravanning, we were not disappointed.
The site being local for us was ideal to rev up the caravan and get to know it.
The site is kept immaculate, the wardens are a credit to the club.
Fellow caravanners also appreciated their efforts, we have already booked again, happy trails.
Lovely tidy clean site. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Ideally situated for walking but public transport right outside site if needed. No toilet facilities or showers but this is reflected in the price.
Just spent 2 nights here on the site. We were met by the must fantastic welcome.
The park was fully booked but we got plot 13 a little slope but no problem as we used our levelling blocks.
In the mornings we were woken with bird song, lots of woodpeckers here.
There are no toilet blocks but that was no a problem.
I took my dogs for a short walk around the site and it was kept so clean and tidy, I think this is my favourite site that I have stayed in so far.
Thank you to the staff for such a warm welcome
This was our first time to this site and it cartainly will not be the last. It was ideally located for exploring the local area.. It was excatly what we wanted. There is no shower of toilet block and it is an adult only site which enhanced the peaceful atmosphere.
An ideal site for exploring the surrounding area. This well run site provides peace & quiet with many walks direct from the site. Good bus service to Hebden Bridge if required. Very helpful wardens.
Been to the Heden Bridge site many times over the years and never fail to be impressed by the site and especially the new wardens.
Two lovely people who are keeping the site in top condition, very helpful if help needed and very welcoming.
The site as said before does not have a toilet block but if that suits you as it does us we would recommend this site, the area now recovering from the floods is very interesting from the quirky Hebden Bridge with its local shops including a cafe for dogs. Local ales and excellent food abounds as well as Italian, Greek and traditional fish and chips.
The Shoulder of Mutton has reopened with a new team and style excellent food, drink and surroundings.
Sites as good as this in areas as northern as can be are well worth a visit any time.
Just spent 21 nights at the site and it is so peaceful (even in the school holidays... but I guess the lack of toilets and showers would not suit most families!!) The wardens are friendly and efficient and the site is immaculate with lovely wild flowers and shrubs as well as beautiful hanging baskets and flower beds. Lots to see and do in the area, and the Calder Valley is starting to look it's best again after the dreadful floods of last winter, though there is still a lot of work on-going.
In 8 years of caravanning we have never been to a site without a toilet/shower block. Why? Goodness knows - the very fact there is no block means that site has an altogether different vibe. I should imagine a family in a caravan would be forever emptying the toilet, but sure some are happy to do this.
On to the site - perfect location, well kept and extremely helpful wardens. Hebden Bridge is actually a couple of miles up the road - no problem for walkers - there is a safe canalside route, and a separate path route. There are road footpaths all the way, safe and well lit to walk back in the dark. Having said that, the proximity means a taxi / bus is relatively cheap.
Would recommend walking up Cragg Vale to the White House Inn at the top - you'll need the local OS map if unfamiliar with the area, but the paths are well defined
The Shoulder of Mutton pub in Mytholmroyd is within walking distance and has recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment following the floods of Boxing Day. The pub used to be run by a rather dour old gentleman (and that's being on the kind side!) but the new owners have created a fresh welcoming pub with a good reputation for food and real ale.
The Robin Hood pub further up Cragg Vale, also accessible by foot is also good - ale and food top quality.
The Hinchliffe Arms also excellent, a bit "posher" but great hospitality all round.
So to sum up, the site is EXCELLENT and we wish we had visited before and got over our "no block" boycott!
Was really surprised by this wonderfully located site, knowing it was a minimal facility site were we expecting basic? Well we got so much more, a lovely tidy well thought out site. Large sunny or shaded pitches available to choose from.
We arrived to find the annual vintage and veteran car rally was being held over the weekend in nearby Hebden Bridge, that was the bonus. Well one of the bonuses of this site.. Halifax, Holmfirth, Haworth...
All a good day out. Would seriously recommend a visit to this lovely area and site.
This is a lovely little site, no toilet block but that doesn't bother us. The wardens are very friendly and approachable and if they don't know the answer to your question immediately, they will find out for you. It's a lovely picturesque area and this includes the site which is surrounded by the most wonderful views. The site itself is lovely and clean and tidy and quite pretty with the borders and the flower baskets.
