Nice site but getting there includes a wait

We stayed at this site last week and had a very nice time. The site is nicely laid out and very well kept - abound with carefully maintained shrubs and flowers wherever you are and very pretty too. We were on a service pitch which proved to be the right choice as it provided lots of water for showers etc with no toilet block on site. The sun shone all the time we were there and we got to see the nearby places that we wanted to visit - all very nice. Yes there is a but. We came over the moors from junction 21 on the M62 to get to the site as there was a parade on in Hebden Bridge - if you do the same be warned that the road is extremely bumpy so check all your belongings are well tied down and inner cupboards locked and I'm not joking! The main problem however was the everytime we left the site and drove down to go to Mytholmroyd there were road works and flood defence works being undertaken in the village controlled by traffic lights. Travel anywhere (Hebden Bridge, Bradford, Halfax, Haworth etc) and you have to go through these works both on the way to wherever your going and on your return. Waiting sometimes 20 minutes was not unusual nor the queues of traffic reaching back well over a mile. Avoiding rush hour and school hours when a convey of buses appeared was a must. I can honestly say that I am very surprised that the club does not put a warning on the web site page for the site warning members of this problem which incidentally has been going on for some time and will, by the looks of it, continue for some considerable time in the future. We hopefully will return as we had a very nice time, met some really nice fellow members, but we won't be doing it in the immediate future.

Hebden Bridge

Our short stay here was part of a tour so we motored on to Hebden Bridge itself before going on site. We squeezed ourselves into a small car park alongside the canal and had a couple of hours for lunch and a wander round. We noted later that many people park along the road into the town. We managed to see around the waterways, have lunch in a nice café and do some shopping, Yorkshire curd tarts were on the agenda (we found a bakery.) We didn't do too well getting to the site as the flood prevention roadworks where in full swing and we missed the turning, beware the approach through Mytholmroyd which is very busy with roadworks. We had opted for a non awning pitch as most are at the back near the river and we had a nice peaceful spot, we paid our fees when the wardens returned late afternoon. This little site is immaculate with nice plantings and landscaping, we enjoyed our brief visit.

some lovely pitches, no facilities

Stayed here for 3 nights end June 19. Lovely little site, quiet and well cared for. There are NO facilities beyond water, waste and chemical toilets so be ready to use your on-board toilets and showers. Not a problem for use we don't usually use the showers ect anyway. The serviced pitches are in the middle and a little too overlooked. Low TV signal, but the WiFi works over the whole site reasonably well. There are some very secluded pitches if your lucky too. Lovely ladies running the place although like many have said, the office is closed more than open a lot of the time.

Can’t wait to go back

We stayed at this site for 5 nights on a serviced pitch. Not something we do regularly but we enjoyed not having to fill and empty our water every day. I’m not sure I really understand previous negative comments about the serviced pitches as there are only 5 or 6 of them. Plenty of non serviced pitches for those not wanting to pay the extra cost. Our first impressions when we entered the site was how neat and tidy and pretty it was. The wardens clearly spend a lot of time looking after the flower beds and shrubs. We particularly liked the shrubs etc between the pitches. The wardens were both lovely. We were met with a welcoming and friendly greeting and friendly waves if we walked or drove past when they were out doing their jobs. They obviously take pride in this tranquil oasis. Although the site is 2 or 3 miles from Hebden Bridge itself there are several walking routes depending whether you want to go the hilly route or flat route along the canal towpath. It’s an easy drive or you can catch a local bus. We did numerous long and short walks during our stay and loved the walking options in the area. I don’t think I have ever stayed anywhere where there are so many walking routes so close together. Hebden Bridge is a delight and there are plenty of choices for eating and drinking out which should suit everyone’s preferences. On one of our days the forecast looked pretty wet and so we hopped on the train to Halifax primarily to visit the Piece Hall. The train ride was short, about 13 minutes, and cost about the same as a car park ticket. The PieceHall was well worth the visit. There are lots of different and easy options on train and buses if you don’t want to take your car or motorhome. We loved this site. Overall we had a really enjoyable stay in this lovely site and loved the area. We left knowing there was so much we hadn’t done and much we just wanted to do again. We will definitely return.

Traffic Jam or a Bouncy Ride?

Spent a glorious Easter weekend at this quiet secluded site and really enjoyed it. Luckily the grass pitches were not being used so the children, not just ours, were able to play in this area when not exploring the surrounding area. The site itself is small and very well cared for and the wardens were friendly, helpful and especially understanding of our children's needs for ice lollies over the heated weekend. The only downside to this site is getting to it. We travelled over the top rather than the advised route to miss the roadworks and paid the price of low flying everything from overhead lockers on arrival. Thoroughly recommended and will definitely visit again

Lovely site, mainly for adults.

Lovely site, beautifully cared for and the wardens really friendly. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the wardens weren't in. A note on the door instructing arrivals where to pitch and at what time they would be back would have been useful. Lovely quiet site. Due to the lack of a toilet block and showers I would recommend adults only.

Not changed for the better.

We have visited the Mytholmroyd site (2.6 miles from Hebden Bridge) several times and love the location but some of the 'improvements' (the club's words not mine) leave a lot to be desired. Until the bank holiday weekend, the serviced pitches had few takers, the new office is now on what we thought was the better part of the site and a few new chippings aren't worth the money. I feel I have to comment on the office hours - 5 hours a day isn't enough. Be there by 1pm or you won't see a warden. We only met one and she was quite abrupt. When she asked if we'd been before and received a positive answer, I felt she didn't want to know. From there on, I only received yes/ no answers. We pitched in view of the office and on more than one occasion it closed early as the wardens drove off. Clearly they had somewhere to be! It wasn't on site. On a positive note, this is one of our favourite sites, print off a few walks from google and you'll save a fortune. Mytholmroyd is still struggling to cope with the aftermath of the floods a couple of years ago and the traffic issues associated with road/bridge/river bank works cause problems. The bridge over the river is narrow as is the road beyond it. We met a mighty lorry and had severe problems (new clutch for our next visit) and speaking to others we were not alone. The roads in and around Halifax are having a major overhaul with many signs hidden or missing. Don't use the sat nav - we've made that mistake in the past. This does sound like one big moan, but we had a lovely time. Please go and visit. The locals have had a hard time and need our custom. See 'U Tube' - Mytholmroyd Floods.

Beautifully Kept Site

Beautifully kept site, not at Hebden Bridge though, but only a short car ride away. Be aware that the wardens aren’t around in the afternoon so just help yourself to a pitch. Shame all the pitches by the river are serviced ones, which we can’t really justify the extra expense for for what you get. We had a pitch next to the road - the only ‘white ‘ posts left, which was ok but a bit of noise from the road. Reception and information point excellent, staff very pleasant.

Ok..but......

First visit since redevelopment.mmmm, nice new reception area and some nice serviced pitches ( at extra cost ) Arrived just after 12 noon on the friday and only 4 hard standing white peg pitches left, all at the top section next to the road ( more noise from road bus stop etc ) , and some pitches on grass. The rest were extra cost serviced pitches.we book this site as it is / was a basic relatively low cost option so cannot see the point in these pitches on this particular site. £23.90 a night for 2 of us on a site with no facilities ? No thanks ! Still only 1 service point with bins, toilet waste etc and the pitches at the top under the main road are fairly tight, impossibly so if the grass pitches opposite are in use.surely more could have been done in this area for improvement rather than make the existing best pitches in the middle serviced and more expensive ? All very clean and tidy as expected but fail to see any value for money for average members since redevelopment. A new office and some serviced pitches are of no benefit / value to us. Hope this isnt going to be the future, redeveloping cheaper/ basic sites and putting them out of peoples reach !

Disappointed

The site was disappointing when we arrived at 1pm no warden to be see a note on the door that office closed everyday 1pm to 5pm As we travelled a long way to get there nobody to give info regarding nearest town grocery shop availability etc. I think the name of the site is deceiving hebden bridge well 2 villages between site and hebden bridge. The dog walk ! Very tiny had to walk my dog along the main road. While there a very serious accident so road was closed very disillusioned by the club site and the club .
