We have just returned from a week's stay at Haycrafts site.
We chose a pitch on the grass in the area close to the site entrance. This is a lovely area, feels private and spacious.
Other pitches are in rows and arranged over 2 terraces, these are less spacious and cars have to be parked in front of caravans on some of these pitches due to space.
The lane leading up to the siteis very narrow so care is needed when arriving and leaving with the caravan.
The toilets and showers were very clean, there are only 3 showers but I only had to wait for one to become free on one occasion during the week. The showers themselves are great, they are all the hand held shower heads, great water pressure! Wish this style of shower was adopted for all club sites. The space in the shower cubicle is quite small with limited space to place belongings. There are a couple of hooks but no shelving/seating area, just a small plastic stool. I got round this by making a dash to a privacy cubicle after my shower (wrapped in my towel, I hasten to add) to get dried and dressed. Each privacy cubicle has a hairdryer which is a great idea. So, the pros outweigh the cons of the limited shower cubicle space.
The site is about 3 miles from Swanage and 2 from Corfe. Good location with lots of beautiful areas to explore nearby.
I recommend the grass pitches, they are spacious and pitches are arranged in a nicer way than the terraced rows in my opinion.
Lovely site and fantastic area
Just returned from a six night stay and wished we had another week. Site small and peaceful and so convenient for Studland, Swanage and all the other beautiful Dorset lacations. Friendly helpful wardens. We had a grass pitch in a very quiet spot of five pitches. The only negative being that there were only three showers, but didn’t mind waiting, being on holiday had plenty of time! It was a shame that newspapers are not delivered to the site, not the wardens fault, but it is so nice just to be able to read the papers over a leisurely breakfast while on holiday. The entrance lane is a bit narrow, and the grass on the verges very high in a June, but by arriving and departing at the correct time should avoid any problems.
An added bonus was the steam train stop just about 5 mins stroll down the lane. Wonderful. Discounted tickets available from reception.
Loved the area and didn’t see half of what we planned, so will be returning.
A little gem
My first visit here and it’s really lovely. Not a big site by any means and i pitched on the grassy area at the top of the hill. It’s really hidden away around the corner with space for 5 units...our own little CL with CC facilities.Bit of a haul taking water up though! Now the facilities are perfectly clean and adequate enough and i didn’t have to wait at anytime but as others have said, they are a little bit tatty round the edges and in need of a refurb. I still don’t understand why there are always more privacy cubicles than appear necessary, in my experience not many people use them. Anyhow in the ladies, one of the hot taps didn’t work. The staff are brilliant, no doubt and the dog walk is very good, even spied a Sika deer one evening...The walk to Corfe Castle from the site is rather pleasant with only about 100 yards road walking. I went to the model village at Corfe Castle. What a waste of time, i was in and out in 5 minutes! The approach is narrow and i beg people NOT to arrive before 12. 1, you will not get in as the staff are away until 12 doing other things and 2, you have every chance of meeting someone leaving before 12 and if it’s me, i will not budge...I personally don’t think this is a site for families. There’s a decent playing field though but that’s about it
Great Holiday!
We stayed at this site for one week 19th - 26th May 2019.
It was our first visit here. We had fantastic weather which made it all the more better!
We went on the Swanage Steam Railway, Portland Castle, Max Gate, Dorchester, Bournmouth, Lulworth Cove & Wimbourne Model Village.
The site and staff are excellent, we hope to stay here again next year! :) Thank you!
A little Dorset haven
We stayed here for just a couple of nights but will come again for longer. This site had everything we look for ; beautiful scenery, walks directly from the site, friendly helpful wardens, no road noise and immaculate facilities.

Annual Visit
A great weekend in the lovely Dorset countryside - walks, steam train rides, beaches and BBQs. There's so much to do and it's easy to walk or ride from the site. As always Haycraft was full / hard to get into at a bank holiday. Must retire and stay longer another time!
Love it!
I love this site. Small and friendly. The wardens are really helpful and accommodating. The toilet block is clean and tidy (as expected) and there is plenty of hot water. The shower is better than the one at home. The site is brilliant for walkers - walk across the fields to Corfe or if more ambitious walk the other direction towards Swanage. Take the train to Swanage although you need to come back early as they finish running at about 5pm.
There is plenty to do in the area. Have a trip to Weymouth, the Tank Museum and Monkey World aren't far away. Blue Pool at Wareham is also a lovely walk although not looking too blue at the moment!
The dog walk on site is a good size and dogs can be let off the lead to run about. My only gripe would be that the grass is extremely long apart from a few mowed paths and I found the people couldn't see where their dog had been and hadn't been picked up as it should be. If the grass was shorter this wouldn't be a problem.
I wouldn't suggest this is the best site for young children as there isn't a play area apart from a bit of field and children these days aren't used to making their own fun!
Its a small site within a stunning area and I will be going again and again.
John and Vals visit
This is a idyllic site set in the wonderful Purbeck countryside, great for walking, dogs, wildlife, peace and quiet, and visiting the local scenery. The wardens are wonderful and you are assured a great welcome.
Haycraft hidden gem
Just been to Haycraraft ft for two night stay, what a hidden gem of a site. Peaceful with great wild life ,the dog walk is the biggest we have found on a club site, whole site clean ,tidy and up to the high standard of the Club. The shower block is clean ,warm and lots of hot water, again well looked after by staff. The wardens are helpful, and pleasant with great local intel. Swanage is a great town to visit with good pubs and eating places plus the Steam Railway to Corfe Castle .

Wonderful site and Wardens !
What an absolute gem this site is ! The wardens Trevor and Claire keep this site immaculate and the shower block beautifully clean - right down to the lovely fresh flowers in the ladies !
There’s lots of walking directly from the site, with many more further afield if you have a car. One footpath passes by the top of the site, taking you to meet the road (the one you came in on) where you can then continue on across fields to Corfe Castle. But if this is a bit to far to walk, continue a little further down the road to ’Harman’s Cross’ railway station and take a wonderful ride on a steam train instead to either Swanage or Corfe Castle. There are also many magnificent walks along the coastal path too. But should the weather be awful a trip to ‘Badger Brewery’ Visitors Centre at Blandford is well worth a visit, as is the ‘Tank Museum’ at Bovington. Any query you have Trevor or Claire, are only to happy to answer as both are ‘fountains of knowledge’ regarding this part of Dorset !
