A shortage of toilets

A good site with lovely views but thing Road to sites they will not let you in till 12 clock which is completely understandable I hate to meet another caravan leaving as I come the only comment I wish to make is there are a shortage of toilets 3 in total but there are three shaving areas it would be better to convert one of those 3 to a toilet

Good Break

We spent a few days here during a dry spell in early October. The site is well cared for with an excellent info hut and the wardens are pleasant and helpful. The approach road near the site is a bit narrow so care is needed. We loved the location and enjoyed walking direct from site along the public field footpaths/bridleways/tracks to Worth Matravers tea shop (limited winter opening times) 1 day. Also walked via the ridge to the north of the site into Corfe Castle for a cream tea in the Nat Trust tearoom garden then back by bus to Langton Matravers and across the fields to site. Did not have children or dogs so can't really comment though there did appear to be a decent size dog area. Swanage and/or Studland beach would most likely suit families. We will return as we felt it was an ideal location for visiting and walking in this area of Purbeck.

Great site

This is a lovely friendly but quiet site. It is kept clean and some of the pitches are very spacious. An added bonus for us is the footpath which passes the site and leads to Corfe Castle. The location is very good as there is a wealth of interesting things to do nearby - the Swanage railway for one. We had a lovely few days here and can't wait to return.

Excellent stay

We visited this site in late April for a flying visit. Apart from the slightly scary approach (it looked worse than it was) it was a lovely stay and we wished we could have stayed longer. We had a warm and cheerful welcome, enjoyed our pitch and had some lovely walks from the site with the dog.The site was clean and well maintained and the wardens do an excellent job. We will certainly be back next year for a longer stay.

Dog Field

Excellent showers hot and powerful, excellent wardens, very very popular but imagine on arriving to find dog field has been left to grow wild with narrow paths mown through. Our dog loves running after a ball being thrown with a chukka so the original wonderful enclosed field was superb. Problem with long grass is tics and grass seeds in ears and paws, very difficult to throw straight as ball nearly always veers off. The play field next door has a dog walk fenced round and also a large wild area at far side so the argument that it was left for wild growth is irrelevant. There is also an abomination of a new dog fenced area nr the toilet block which we never saw being used which spoils the look of the site. Please can we have our dog field back.

Excellent small site

I am siting in the sunshine writing this using this sites really good WIFI, it is actually one of the best we have used & it was unexpected due to the small size of this site. The wardens were very friendly & helpful telling us all about the best walking areas to visit with the dogs, there is just so much walking available both from the site & locally that we needed another couple of weeks to explore even a part of it. If you are a walker this area is a must to visit. The site also has a surprisingly large dog walk a lot better than most big sites & I can report NO dog mess anywhere (which does make a nice change!). We visited Studland & Shell bay in particular, as NT members it was a free day out, great to walk on the beach where seals were playing in the bay, amazingly quite close to the Poole ferry. RSPB Arne is also a must visit place if you are into walking & wildlife (Spring Watch last year was filmed there I believe). Corfe Castle is just up the road & free again for NT members, this is not just a look at an old castle but again miles & miles of good walks in & around the area. The steam train also runs from the bottom of the lane although we didn't have time to try it. All in all this is a Fab little site that will be ideal for anyone who prefers peace & quiet with excellent local walks we have already booked again for next year.

My Favourite Place

A fabulous long weekend at Haycraft with the motorhome and my brother next door in the caravan. Friendly welcome from the wardens, luckily two pitches together and fabulous weather. It's hard to get booked into Haycraft as it's so small and so popular but I must come for a longer stay soon. Lovely walk to Dancing Ledge for a picnic lunch (oops, made a wrong turn on the way back and walked 6 miles!) and meals out at The Bankes Arms in Studland and The Purbeck Golf Club (fabulous view and friendly welcome) - the Club Sandwich is a must. We'll be back.

Lovely site in great location.

Our first visit to the site as we have only recently got back into caravanning. Got a nice friendly welcome on arrival and choice of pitch. Site was clean and well maintained and the facilities are very nice and cleaned regularly. Swanage is just 3 miles away and is a nice little seaside town complete with a Harry Ramsdens. The Jurassic coast is within easy reach and Dorset is a beautiful county with so much to see and do. Brownsea Island and RSPB Arne are nature highlights and for walks you are spoilt for choice with Lulworth and Kimmeridge being great spots. Bridport is a lovely market town with nice shops and Palmer's brewery is a must visit. We had a great break in an area we know well and will definitely be using the site again.
