Fairy lights

Just completed our 3rd holiday this year at this wonderful site. As other members have said the toilet block is very dated & in desperate need of a refresh, that said the wardens keep it immaculately clean. Looking forward to being there again in 2017. At this time of year I use some "fairy" lights in my awning which twinkle, whilst I can accept that anyone with epilepsy etc. can be adversely affected by twinkling lights, I found it disappointing that who ever it was didn't have the decency to approach me about them but went instead to the warden to complain, trust me even though I am from "Up North" I don't bite...

Nice break

Lucky with the weather which always makes things better. The wardens are great, as with all CC sites. Some pitches are a bit tight and the shower block is a bit dated but clean. One side of the site is over-tree'd, but still less than many CC sites (the CC is obsessed with trees). A site where a car is needed to make the most of the area. Lots of good walking and only a couple miles into Swanage with all its amenities etc.

Excellent Site

We stayed here in July for two weeks with our family joining us in the second week with their own outfit. Excellent area which we keep returning to. The site is well maintained and the wardens Trevor & Claire do an excellent job. The flower displays are a pleasure to see. Trevor & Claire worn extremely hard and are very attentive to members needs. The shower block is well maintained and is always spotless early morning or late at night. We have no complaints about the showers themselves or the toilets. The site is attractive and although some pitches are small causing a car to be parked across the pitch it is not a detriment to the site. The plus for this site is the number of attractions that are close by. The town of Swanage has a great beach, good parking and many eateries. Our favourite is the family run Italian restaurant La Trattoria. Studland beaches are not too far away. The Swanage Railway is accessible at Harmans Cross which is just a short walk from the site. All in all another enjoyable holiday in this area. A favourite site for many. We will be back in 2017. Thank you Trevor & Claire for all your hard work.

One of the Best Sites we have stayed on

Dorset is our favourite County and we have been holidaying there for many years. Swanage is one of the best seaside towns in England and our stay at Haycraft this year was the first. What a marvellous site, not to large, well laid out with fabulous views of the Purbeck Countryside, extremely friendly and very welcoming, excellent facilities and the dog loved it to. We loved the peace and quite and will certainly be returning to this site next year, can't recommend it enough.

Hit the jackpot

We arrived in Swanage for the bank holiday weekend to find that all campsites were full. Pulled in on the off chance that they might be able to point us to a site nearby. We were met by Trev who was very helpful and having joined the caravan club there to save us having problems in the future were relieved when Claire said they had one pitch spare for a small non awning camper. The site was immaculate throughout, the views were stunning and Trev and Claire were so helpful. It was a perfect introduction to the caravan club and we would highly recommend this site to anyone.

Fantastic location

Just had 10 nights at this wonderful site at the end of August. Site is very, very peaceful and yes the lower pitches are a bit tight and the shower block could do with updating but it didn't spoil our enjoyment at all. We were pitched on the lower part of site on a hardstanding and initially thought the pitch was very tight but we managed even using our canapy and parking our 4x4 across the front of the pitch. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the site is well cared for. Good dog walk too which is always welcome. The weather was absolutely fantastic and is always a bonus. We loved the surrounding area which was new to us and we enjoyed exploring. We thought Swanage was a lovely seaside town, went to Poole and beyond a couple of times and used the ferry from Sandbanks across to Studland, which was a very good service and saved using the very busy route between Poole and Swanage. We also visited Lulworth Cove, Tyneham village/Worbarrow Bay, Durston Country Park - which we enjoyed. Wareham looked lovely but didn't explore this time - so much to come back for another time. I have only put 3 stars for 'Good for families' purely because we had no kids with us so don't know how families viewed this site. There is a large field for a play area but the few kids that were on site during our stay seemed to be content playing on bikes, scooters etc. We have looked at this site for a few years and are so pleased that we made the long journey from Derbyshire - we shall definitely be returning.

Disappointing

Lovely location , the steam train station is a 10 min walk . But Haycraft needs up dating , the shower block especially . The pitches are tight , if you have a caravan and an awning on a hard standing , there is no room for the car, which means on most pitches the car has to go across the front of the van. Giving a very claustrophobic feeling. The wardens were smashing and the flowers are a credit to them . Shame on the departing motorhome who left at 7.30 am with his waste water tap open , to lazy to go to the MWP.

Yapping Dogs

Just spent a week at haycraft the pitch opposite had 2 dogs which barked and yapped at everyone walking past. Why take dogs if you cannot control them, most dog owners are good responsible owners and look after them as they should. My wife informs me that three out of four toilet seats were loose and moved when sat on as others have said at peak times you have to que for toilets and showers and they are in bad need of a refurb. Also the approach road has a couple of deepish potholes which need filling in so watch out for them. We were on the lower level and children treated the slope as a scooter and bicycle track.
