Wonderful welcoming and peaceful site.

The approach road is a little narrow, with passing places, and a little steep when returning on foot from the steam railway station, but the site is beautiful. Set at the top of a valley with each pitch exploiting the view, Haycraft exemplifies the Caravan Club (CMC) ethos, welcoming, accommodating, very friendly and flexible. The wardens could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble, so our first excursion of the season went smoothly. "Take your pick of the pitches". Everything was spotless, the elsan disposal, the shower block, toilets - everything was just how you would hope to find it. Take the steam train from the nearby station (about a ten minute stroll) to Swanage and enjoy the pubs, restaurants, cafe's and shops for only £6.50 adult/return. Stroll back to Haycraft and chill, it is very peaceful. We stayed for two nights and even with a thunder storm and torrential rain of Saturday night couldn't dampen our appreciation. We'd love to return.

October 2016 Visit

A great site with a warm welcome. We loved the intimacy of this site, that doesn't mean you are close to everyone just a lovey small site feel. For those who are worried about very narrow roads this may not be the site for you, as you need to have your wits about you are you arrive and depart with your unit. A few mins walk from the steam railway means you can avoid driving if you can cope with the walk up the hill back to the site. We loved that you could hear the trains in the near distance. We had no problems getting into the shower block while we were there, all pitches were full. Everywhere was clean and well kept. Overall a top site and following this first visit we will be back for certain. Well done to the wardens who clearly take good care of the site - well done and thanks for making us feel welcome.

October Half Term

This was our first visit to Haycraft, and we will certainly be back again! A lovely small and friendly site, located conveniently close to the Swanage Railway. So we were able to take the train for days out rather than our van! Admittedly the shower block is small, but unlike other reviewers we had no issue with queues, choosing to shower in the evenings, when we found we had the block to ourselves! The showers are clean and clearly recently updated. Our only minor disappointment is the lack of facilities for children to play, but given the size of the site, quite understandable. Instead we chose to exhaust the boy with long walks, so he had no desire to look for playmates!

October visit

This was our latest of several visits to Haycraft. The welcome was really friendly and welcome after a long and eventful journey. The site looks really good and well looked after and this is a credit to the current Wardens. This is an improvement on our visits of a couple of years ago. The toilet block seems to be a continued topic of discussion. They are kept very clean and everything works well. There is not a lot more to say as there is little scope for a rebuild or extension. The site location is brilliant, being close to a variety of things to do and see, including the Swanage Steam Railway within sight and sound of the site. I see that comments in other reviews include lack of play area, access to and from the site, arrival times, getting the best pites and of course, the toilet block . All possibly fair comment but we just concentrate on having a really good restful and enjoyable break - which we did. Brilliant!

Swanage Caravan Site

This site is convenient for getting onto the Swanage Railway which enables you to leave your cars on site. However the pitches are too close together which means you have to park your car in front of caravan. We have visited twice and always have had to park the van at the bottom of the site under trees, which means you get no sun all day. The toilet block is small, but adequate. However we found mould around shower trays. The rest of the block seemed clean enough. It doesn't come up to the standards of other sites we have visited but it must be one of the oldest sites in the book. However we did enjoy our visit very much.

Good but could be better

Wonderful welcome. Can understand there would be a problem with showers when busy, but we had no trouble.  It's a pity that there is no playground equipment for children this would be useful, particularly when it's wet.  Very narrow access road with limited passing places.  On the whole a very enjoyable stay,  and great access to Swanage steam railway.

One of our Favourites....

Haycraft is a perfect little site. The situation is so good, brilliant if you enjoy walking as you can walk off in all directions, Corfe, Swanage, Langton Matravers and best of all, Worth Matravers where there is a Unique pub, The Square and Compass. Cider and pasties are there specialities, with spectacular views. The site is situated very close to Harmans Cross station, so you have the choice of catching the train, to Corfe or Swanage. There are so many places to visit that you are spoilt for choice. The site is imaculately kept, the toilets and showers are spotless, with plenty of hot water, the fresh flowers in there are a nice touch. The wardens deserve a big thank you for not letting anyone onto a pitch until midday, the arrival time. Each day about 11.30 someone turned up. We have got to sites at the allowed arrival time to find that there are quite a few vans all ready on pitches having arrived that morning early and had the pick of the best pitches, so thank you very much to the wardens at Haycraft, well done.....

Quiet relaxation

I am tempted to not write a review as I want to keep this little gem a secret. It is a small site with a friendly welcome. Set in a hollow beside a sheltering wood there is a quiet and relaxed feeling here. While my children enjoyed nipping up to the corner of the site to watch the steam trains puffing by in the valley there is not a lot to occupy youngsters. But if this is a base for visiting the superb coast and countryside then that should not be a problem As previous reviewers have noted there are not a vast array of showers but we did not have to queue or wait so have no complaints. The only thing I would highlight is that you really do not want to meet a departing caravan on the narrow hill before the entrance so please take the advice regarding departure and arrival. Thank you for a lovely short stay

Haycraft

revisited after a years absence and what a surprise, the site had Improved beyond recognition due to the hard working and very pleasant wardens. This site is Ideal for visiting a large number of attractions within easy reach or just relaxing. there are 2 garage / shops nearby and Swanage has a number of quirky shops and food outlets. The only down side to this site is the lack of an adequate number of shower cubicles as mentioned in a previous review but don't let this put you off visiting a lovely site
