Our first motorhome adventure.

We arrived after dark, and with no experience were expecting to be told where to pitch but you are free to choose for yourself on this site, and as it is all grass pitches with part of the site catering for several rows, working out which white peg to line up to was our first lesson. The couple that run the site are very friendly and very helpful and they keep the toilet and shower block immaculately clean. The laundry/washing-up room looked the same although we didn't make use of it. The service facilities on site were very good and there's an information room full of useful guides etc including a file listing and reviewing eateries and takeaways that previous campers have contributed to. A blackboard outside the office details the basic provisions available for purchase. A bowl of water is provided for dogs which I should imagine was a most welcome touch for the several dog owners using this site. A chippy van comes to the site every Tuesday and Friday. We only had chips and they were pretty tasty. A portion of chips cost £2 and I noticed that a piece of cod was £4 and a sausage was £1. There's a nice pub called The Avenue a couple of hundred yards down Beattie Road opposite the site entrance. The landlord and his wife have just taken over and are considering doing food in the future. There's a bus stop on the left hand side of Beattie Road where you can catch a bus into Great Yarmouth. The stop on the other side of the road is for the bus to Caister. They run about every 15 minutes and every half an hour on a Sunday. You can buy a 'Hi 5' ticket that entitles up to two adults and three children to travel for the day. The bus driver advised us to buy one as it was cheaper than two adult returns for £8. In Caister we had a great Sunday dinner at the Castle Carvery. It's open from 12noon until 10pm and from Monday to Saturday costs £7.49. On Sundays and Bank Holidays it's £9.99. They also serve a Full English for £5.99 from 9-11am at the weekend. It was very busy so obviously a popular eating place and with a large climbing frame with slides just outside, ideal for people with kids. We were very happy with our selection of Great Yarmouth Racecourse Caravan Club Site for our first trip out in our van. Not sure we'll be staying there again but that's only because we hope to visit different places on each occasion. We do however, recommend this site to anyone.

Nice campsite in good location for great yarmouth

We spent 3 nights at this site and really enjoyed our stay. From the site we could easily walk a and cycle in to Great Yarmouth and enjoyed all the seaside treats. We were also able to walk to the Greyhound stadium where and enjoyed a flutter and went back the following night for Banger racing. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming.

Very Friendly site

This was our first time on a Caravan Club site. The site was lovely and the wardens were very friendly. It is a nice walk into Yarmouth or you can catch a bus from outside the site. We will definitely return.

Great location

Been to Yarmouth before and seen the site, so decided to try it - wasn't disappointed. The toilet and shower block was huge, and beautifully clean. The wardens were great - couldn't be more helpful if they tried. And as for the location, it's great - close to the seafront, and just a short cycle ride into either Yarmouth or Caister.

Great stay again!

Superb location, easy access. Perfect for a young family. We are repeat visitors and love this site and it has everything to do with the Wardens Eddie and Judy. They take enormous pride in their site. It feels so cared for and this was the very end of the season. The cleanliness is the best we have ever seen. The welcome is always so bright and cheerful, the grounds are so well kept too. We will be coming back again soon hopefully. Thank you Judy and Eddie for your hard work and keeping such a lovely site, we really enjoyed our stay.  To non CC issues. One of our traditions at all sites (where offered) is to eat from the visiting chip van both for convenience and as support for these little but very important businesses. We were terribly disappointed with the fish and chip van this time around, it took an eternity and the end result was possibly the worst we have ever eaten, in fact 75% of the food (£25 bill) went in the waste bin. Chips tasted like supermarket oven chips but clearly fried as they were very greasy (and were crinkle cut too which was different for a chip shop), the fish was dry, riddled with bones and the batter was overly dark on the outside whilst wet and raw inside. This may have been an isolated bad day as we were sure we had had better before, but Great Yarmouth has some amazing Fish and Chips, this was not even close. So just a word of caution.

Heaven amongst the dunes

What a fantastic surprise this site turned out to be. Close to a dog friendly beach and within walking distance of Great Yarmouth centre. I only chose to come here at the last minute and how happy I am that I did. Probably a bit crowded in the summer months but out of season I couldn't wish for more. The wardens were extremely friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our fish and chips from the visiting van. Will definitely be back next year.

FABULOUS

A repeat visit to this site, delighted to find Judy and Eddie on duty again, such laid back wardens who run a beautiful site which is always immaculate. We were lucky enough to arrive with the recent glorious weather which meant tshirts and sitting outside turning a very healthy colour. A short walk brings you to the dunes and then the beach and buses outside the site, boot sales every Sunday very close so plenty of variety. Close enough for a lovely walk into Yarmouth or to Caister but without being on top of the 'attractions'. We will return.
