Second Visit

Just had a very good three nights at this racecourse site, which is actually set inside the main course. This is our second visit, having first visited in 2012, nothing has changed, still the immaculate toilet block and warm welcome. No more racing this year though. Shame, as you would get an excellent view. The beauty of this site is its close proximity to Great Yarmouth. Everything is easily accessable, you don't need to use your car. You can walk to town or catch a bus from just over the road from the entrance(75yd) on the left to Gt Ymth, or on the right to Caister and beyond, the bus service is very regular in both directions. The only disappointment that we had was the fish and chip van which calls a few times a week, lets just say that we wont be using them again if we return. There is also greyhound racing a short distance away on the way to Caister, Wed and Friday nights, good for a laugh.

A really nice site

Before we arrived we curious what it would be like both to stay at a racecourse, and arrive just after a race meeting. We were not disappointed. The site was spotless and showed how much care is taken to keep it that way. The toilet nlovk was immaculate and one of the best we have experienced to date.

The location of the site is good - about a 1.5 mile walk from Great Yarmouth town centre (the site is strictly in Caister) along the prom, past some beautiful gardens and waterways; if you are too tired to walk back, there is a road train which will take you back from almost any point on the seafront to Jellicoe Road/The Iron Duke for £2 per adult.

My only slight criticism is that there is no Club Wifi on site - not sure if this is because of the racecourse?

The Races

A fun site in the middle of the racecourse although no races when we were there. Cycling into Great Yarmouth is easy but go across the roundabout and then turn left to avoid the hill! The shop at the static caravan park round the corner is very useful but we didn't find anything else in walking distance . Buses were expensive! Must be great fun for the races.

Racecourse 11/9/15

It was a nice clean site. We enjoyed our stay. Nice pub just down the road. Would be nice to have a small club on site or open the racecourse bar. Would come again. Very nice warden assistants.

One thing missing would make it perfect

We enjoyed our stay last weekend it was an easy hop into the town centre and the site was very suitable for the disabled guest perhaps a little bumpy but not a problem at all. The thing missing the internet I had problems with a new mini hub and it would have been nice to have the option of the caravan club internet being available. Other than that our only drawback was entirely personal the roads to the site from our home were less happy and we spent a greater part getting there than we haad expected. We will definitely back but for longer than a weekend and hopefully the inumerable combine harvesters will be locked away lol.

Speeding ????

We had a great break at Yarmouth over the Bank Holiday.Only 2 downsides though.1.A wedding reception on the Race Course, loud music till quite late.2.Speeding members.Dont they know how fast 5 m.p.h is.Either they cant read their speedometers or they walk at 25 m.p.h.Something must be done to slow them down.....

Great, great yarmouth

This is our 4 th year at Great Yarmouth club site, the experience gets better year on year. The wardens are exceptional, warm, friendly and completely understanding of campers needs. They gave us a warm friendly welcome on our arrival and waved us farewell as we departed. The race day was fantastic apart from losing money on the horses. There was a wedding held at the race course which was fantastic to see, their revelling went on until the early hours which added to the whole fun experience.

Second visit

This was our second visit which was very good. Staff are excellent and site is very clean. The site is very good for Great Yarmouth and surrounding area.  The only reason for not voting 5 for peace & quiet was that there was a wedding celebration at the Racecourse and the music went on well after midnight and a bit of noise when the people were leaving. This did not spoil our holiday though. Would recommend this site very highly.

What A Treat

We have stayed on this site on a few occasions now, and we never cease to be impressed by the friendly welcome and helpful wardens. Caravan Club sites are ALWAYS pristine and this one is no exception.  This is the first time we have stayed during a race meeting. What a treat! We'll be back!
