Easter break at Gowerton

Our first foray into using our new caravan was an easy and rewarding one. We were met by Chris with a warm welcome who answered many questions for a novice. We had a great stay with absolutely no problems on the site at all. It was well presented, all facilities working and just quite serene. Tesco Express fuel and shop just round the corner. The highlight of the stay was my daughter learnt to ride her bicycle and then virtually wore the tyres out around the site. Very good and safe for the kids. Just take note to approach the site from the correct side - easy access the correct way. Thanks Chris - well done.

Poor.

We had high hopes for our first stay on this site but were very disappointed so left early. First of all the access to this site is not for the faint hearted and we were not warned about the very narrow bridge which gave inches either side of our van! obviously this is not the site;s fault but really some form of warning should be made clear as it is nerve racking, even for the most experianced tower. The most concerning issue here was the warden, (not the assistant warden who was very helpful and pleasant.) I found her very rude and not in the least bit helpful. We had an issue with our key (which was rectified) therefore needed some advice as this area and site was new to us. This warden was very unhelpful, suggesting I leave my car outside the site not gauranteeing its security. We left early the next day. Needless to say it was a very unpleasant stay, we will never return there that's for sure. On the positive side there was a very nice Tesco Express just down the road!

Fifth stop of Wales roadtrip

Well this was our fifth stop of our two weeks hols now in a camper (Trigano Tribute) after over 20 years of caravanning! Unfortunately the rain was quite bad the day we were here and the site does get a bit soggy but the wardens were lovely and the dog walk amazing saw long tailed tits!! Sadly it was a one night only for us as we were booked on another site the day after as we would have liked to explore further and its certainly on our visit again list! Theres a Tesco within walking distance although we didnt try it as we had plenty of food with us but something to remember for next time!! We didnt have any problem finding the entrance aswell.

Great site for Gower

This site is adequate in every way, peaceful, clean and well cared for by the very friendly staff. We did miss the entrance on arrival and as previously said, glad we had a small van to enable us over the narrow , very narrow , bridge to turn around ! No gripe with the site, but I think dogs outnumbered people !

A site for families

This site is ideal for families, playground and flat so ideal for kiddies cycling. Days out , plenty of beaches. Was road noise and occasionally train . Dog walk ideal and people were picking up ( as they should ) Wardens friendly, informative. One gripe tho , people walking through our pitch to the toilets. Something we see a lot of these days ,

Better weather than last year.

Another successful stay at Gowerton. Easy access from M4, narrow bridge immediately before site access on the right but nothing that causes a problem if you exercise caution and use your eyes. We enjoyed some stunning weather and a few good trips to Mumbles and it’s beaches. You really do need a car for this site (or a cycle if you prefer) to enjoy what the Gower can offer. Yet again our pitch was visited by a four legged friend who obviously didn’t keep its owner on a lead as it failed to pick up its owners poo!!!!! Why oh why do dogs bring their owners if they aren’t going to adhere to simple rules of common decency. That said it is a great site.

Standard operating procedure!!

I agree with the majority, it is a wonderful site, clean, pretty, especially impressed by the dog walk, plenty of shade there! Can't really blame the wardens for too much sunshine. The only let done was the male warden who accused us of "lieing" about our barrier card which we had never been given. The next morning sure enough his wife confirmed that she had forgotten to give us the card, he was present at the time but failed to apologise for his behaviour. "Standard operating procedure" we're his three favourite words that he kept trotting out when he was telling us what liers we were the previous evening! Sadly there is always one, and he was it. His wife on the other hand was brilliant. I suspect this wasn't the first hole that she had extracated him from, nor I suppose the last. Take him out of the equation and it's another 5 star review.

SMITH FAMILY VISIT

Visited some weeks ago but only now reviewing the site. Had a really nice welcome from the warden who used to be at Brecon and gave us a genuine hug as soon as she saw us, what a way to start your weekend. Spotlessly clean site by very hard working staff, flower display has a great chance of winning something this year. Rake and Riddle PH good as the play area is great for kids and food good quality and reasonably priced. Only 25 minutes from Swansea leisure Centre with great pool splash facilities and 45 minutes from beaches so very good location. Our only slight gripe is that the onsite play area could be a little bigger but really everything else about the site is fab especially the staff.

Lovely site...

Very well maintained with that extra effort to please site users, like the fabulous display of plants at the entrance. Immaculately looked after and spotlessly clean. Staff particularly helpful, even down to bring our fish and chips to our caravan when we were a bit late collecting them. Nice large pitches and good selection of hard-standings or green sites, and a playground for the kids. There is a very short stretch (about 500m) of very narrow road from the main junction to the site, and with a nasty stone bridge that is almost blind on access. It just means you have to be slow and cautious. Don't miss the site entrance (on the right) or you will be committed to another very narrow bridge with only four inches of clearance on either side. Luckily I have a small van, but you may not be so fortunate! Overall, well worth a visit to an area surrounded by lots to see.

Bad Roads, Noisy Site

Recently returned from a visit to Gowerton, lovely site but very little shade and in the recent weather ment that our 9 night stay was cut short and we returned home 4 days early, staff where friendly and the site was clean and tidy although I could not understand why only one shower block was unlocked and used a situation that often caused queues to use the showers. The site its self was quite noisy, road noise and a nearby railway line. The roads on the gower are bad, very narrow, "A" roads are narrow little more than a B road in England and the local "B" roads are more like a narrow single country track. If you like beaches then the gower is for you, note to the wise check the car parking availity we arrived at one beach after driving down a very narrow track only to be told there is no parking due to a land dispute 🙁.
