Nice site but BEWARE

Lovely site with very friendly and helpful staff but what awful access. You get to the site via a single track road with narrow bridges and low overhanging hedges so if you have a motor home IT WILL GET BADLY SCRATCHED when you leave; sadly very bad access is the reason for the mediocre rating.

Relaible quality site

Been here 3 times now over past 4 years. Always a pleasure to return. Good sized pitches, great dog walking area. Access to Swansea. Friendly staff. I like to outside garden games when waiting on taxi!

Above and beyond....

Our second visit to this site. Superlative quality in terms of site layout, facilities, staff etc. This time we arrived on the hottest day of the year, and almost immediately our fridge failed. Normally just inconvenient, to an insulin user this was a potentially return-to-home disaster. However, our bacon, and my insulin, were saved by the extraordinary efforts of the site staff, who kept me going with frozen ice packs twice a day. I cannot say enough of their effort. Not really a part of their routine job, but full marks from me. Thank you wardens.

Lovely site, but.......

This is indeed a beautiful well maintained site. The wardens were great. We like grass pitches and there were plenty of these with lots of space. A reasonable position for visiting the Gower Peninsula but you’ll be in your car a lot as there are no nice walks from the site. Unfortunately, Gowerton has very little to offer and don’t come to this site if you don’t like road noise day and night, we left early and moved to another site because of the noise!

Fantastic site

great site in good location. Really well maintained, super friendly wardens, very good fish & chip suppers. Very quick easy access to cycle route into Swansea along the old railway line, traffic free. Friendly parkrun in Swansea Saturday morning along the. Seafront, easy cycling distance from site. Docklands area very good with fabulous waterfront museum and lots of places to eat. We took part in Swansea triathlon and the warden went out of her way to find free parking near the event, which was very helpful. Definitely will return for a longer visit to explore more of the area.

Lovely Family Weekend

This was our first stay on a Caravan & motor-home site, and it felt like luxury. The purpose of this weekend was to visit family and spend some quality time with them on the Gowerton Site. We only live roughly 4 miles away from this site, but it felt like we were a million miles from home, The sun was blazing, the company was good, and the wardens were so welcoming to us. I knew as soon as we set foot on this site , that we were going to have a lovely weekend. Toilets were spotless even one of our little ones stated "cleanest toilets he has ever been in " , the showers were very warm, and with good easy controls to control the temperature. plenty of sinks , toilets, and showers and also mirrors. Bins , water and waste disposal in excellent position over the site. I recommend this site for peace and quiet but also its very safe for children with the Elba playing fields behind, so you are able to walk or cycle, also good dog walking area. Only thing i will state , is the site is next to Marsh lands, i found no signs stating about the marsh DO NOT EVER GO SWIMMING THERE THE TIDE IS DEADLY , BE VERY CAREFUL IF WALKING , BE SAFER IF YOU DONT ENTER THE MARSH ( years of living around the area ) . Wardens made us feel very welcome , Very lovely people , My nephew came for a visit and it was his birthday and the warden gave him a gift , which we thought was so lovely , in fact he was very happy. I feel the wardens couldn't do enough for you. We would definitely return to have a relax and recharge, and if you get to stay in this site, sample the fish and chips very nice. A lovely well run little gem of a site , well done guys

Stunning

Only negative about the site is the narrow bridge just before the entrance. This is no longer a problem for us as we return to the site at least 3 times a year. The site is a lovely size with plenty of large grass pitches and hard standing for those that like it. Our grandchildren love the park /play area. The site is a credit to the wardens and the facilities are spotless. We've never had a bad experience on this site

Stunning area

Gower is fabulous. I loved Rhossili, so peaceful and dramatic with acres of beautiful beach. The journey there from the site is also lovely with a long stretch over the moor. It is a bit tricky in a motorhome, but definitely doable. Ideally you need a car to get around and see all the interesting beaches and coves. The site itself was not very busy when we were there, so seemed spacious, especially as the grass pitches were not being used due to wet weather prior to our visit. I should think it might feel a bit crowded when it is full. Really good for dog walking. There is a large walk on site and good sized playing fields next to the site. A decent Tesco express is 5 minutes walk away. Gowerton itself is a bit sad. There were hardly any other shops near the site and the pubs were a bit limited. There's a half hourly bus service into Swansea, but the timings are a bit strange. Good market in Swansea.

Gower Peninsula beaches are fabulous

A lovely few days at this site, the usual high CAMC standard. The dog walk is great, a miniature nature reserve that our dog loved (walk it both ways to fully appreciate it). The beaches at Rhossili and Three Cliffs are about a 30 minute drive away but are so worth it. Our best walks were from Southgate (great coffee shop does tasty, reasonably priced lunches) along the coast path to Three Cliffs Bay - stunning views. Then from Hillend car park onto Rhossili beach and then right to Spaniard rocks. Go at low tide and climb up onto the rocky outcrop Burry Holms, the views of Rhossili from there are wonderful. Great site, wonderful beaches, would definitely recommend.

Great place to get about from

This was our first visit to the site at Gowerton, and we were not at all disappointed by it. I had read a review that did not give the site too high a rating, so was wondering what to expect, but was not too concerned, based on the performance of the other sites I have visited. My first contact with the site was to check as to whether or not I was going to be able to get there, as I drive a motorhome, and there is a warning in the handbook. My call was answered by one of the wardening team, who could not have been more welcoming or helpful. my fears were dispelled by her very positive attitude. On arrival the site was quite full, but the pitch provided a great space, and was well clear of other caravaners. After the weekend it went quite quiet, and I just though how many members were missing out on such a great site and location. As a motorhome owner, getting about can be a bit awkward, but the close location of the railway station meant that it was possible to get around easily, to much of South Wales. In fact I am considering revisiting the site to enjoy its location but also the rail links to much of South Wales, it is a great asset having this service close by. I did hire a car for a few days, and on one day explored the north side of the Gower, which is far less commercialised than some of the southern access of the peninsula. Visited the lovely Weobley Castle, and lunched at the Kings Head Langennith, some really great food. Also spent a day visiting Lanharne, an interesting castle and the Boat House, made famous by Dylan Thomas, the author of Under Milkwood. A great site to visit and a great team looking after the place for us members, will certainly be back again A great place to go, and a great team to go with it.
