Awful smell from compost pile, loud music nxt door

We had booked to stay at Forfar Lochside Club Campsite for a Saturday in May. Site is beautiful and toilets/showers/.. perfect. We had chosen pitch 24 and only after settled we found there was a compost pile just adjacent to our pitch (grass from mowing being dumped there) and when sitting outside the smell from there was awful - and what about the insects.. Went to reception but no one there anymore… possibility to call them but no emergency so didn’t do that. Than the music started. Appreciate that the campsite can not control loud music from outside but the very loud music really annoyed us and we decided to leave before night (20:45) and just drive home. Maybe we just had bad luck with the music. I wanted to email the site but there was no possibility to send email to site directly, and email to club bounced..

Beautiful clean peaceful site

Forfar Lochside is a fantastic peaceful hideaway, it's only a 10 min walk into the town but on site it's so peaceful and quiet . The facilities were spotlessly clean every day Pitches, paths and roadways on site were clean and very well maintained Beautifully walks around the loch and through the town We will definitely be adding this to our favourites list

Excellent site !

This is an excellent site. It is within a stroll of Forfar itself where we found one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to. The site itself is a nice size. Very friendly ! The only pitch that was available to us when we booked was a grass pitch which we were a bit dubious about as there had been a lot of rain but we needn’t have worried. It was perfect. We will definitely return.

Well located in the centre of Forfar.

Well located in the centre of Forfar close to shops and local amenities. Handy for visiting Glamis castle. Luckily for me there ia a useful Cycle Shop in Forfar that is a repair agent for Bosch e-bike systems - C S Cycles. I broke the Bosch control panel on my e-bike, but was able to leave it at the cycle shop for just over a week while the replacement part was sourced and fitted. We made an unscheduled extra night stay at Forfar in order to collect my repaired bike.

Ace time

First time to this site but will definitely come again ( many times ). Great location for both town and country, site is immaculate and wardens very nice and helpful. The site has lots of wildlife including the the bird station and red squirrels as well as direct access to the country park and Forfar loch. It is also very convenient for walk to shops and town centre. Each pitch is very spacious with lots of room between pitches as well and all in close proximity to the main facilities. Great location of exploring the Angus area including the towns, attractions and Angus glens :-)

Peaceful 3 nighter

We had a very peaceful 3 night stay here , facilities are immaculate , especially the toilets and showers. Pitches are well spaced out. 2 members staff kept busy , always cleaning or doing jobs around the grounds. Definitely visit again .

Excellent site, spacious and quiet.

New members so limited experience of caravanning and CAMH sites but found Forfar an excellent location with large pitches and friendly helpful staff. Facilities were spotless and easy access from across the well laid out site which was nice and quiet during our stay. Shower block has a load of information on local restaurants and places to visit with visitor recommendations included. Short walk into town for shops etc and a lochside path is accessible through a coded gate beside kids play area. Good location for visiting Dundee with the V&A museum and Discovery Point. Kirriemuir is also a short drive, worth a visit for all rock fans, with a statue to AC/DC’s Bon Scott and a museum display. Will definitely be back!

Forfar Second Visit 2023

Second visit this year to fabulous site . Lovely location. Easy walking distance to town and couple of minutes walk to supermarket. Very very well maintained site. Wardens do a fantastic job here. They are very pleasant , helpful and friendly and we're delighted they will be remaining in Forfar in 2024. . There is a lovely circular walk around a pond accessed from a gate on site. It's 2½ miles and is flat ideal for people less mobile. You can watch rugby or cricket en route if games are on. All in all a great place to be and we may return before Winter shutdown.

Fabulous site

We stayed on a tent pitch. Drainage was excellent and the pitches are close to the toilets. The site is immaculate and well maintained. Wardens on site were very friendly and helpful. Location of the site is great for dog walking as it is right on the Forfar Loch park, also easy walk into the town for eating out buying groceries etc. Had lunch at the Little Green cafe prices were excellent as was the food and service. Will definately visit this site again when we have our new van.

peaceful site with good sized pitches and great facilities

This was may 3rd or 4th visit to the site as I have an elderly relative nearby. I really like the layout and the pitch size, plus the proximity to Forfar town and I'm sure I'll be back. Just 3 slight niggles (but not nearly enough to stop me returning!) Please install some sort of paved path to the loo block across the grass! I'm sure this has been raised by others and I know I have mentioned it before. It's not great having to walk across the wet grass when the rest of the site is so well thought out. Probably a few too many notices now...all over the walls of the loo block and the dishwashing area; about recycling, pitch spacing, energy efficiency etc etc. Yes these are all very important issues and you should draw campers attention to them; but not on every available free space because they then become invisible, like wallpaper (literally) And lastly, maybe he was having a bad day but i did find the male warden pretty brusque and unsmiling, whilst the lady was really nice and friendly and welcoming.
