I stayed for the third time this year (2022) as the site suits my needs very well. (I’ve only ever stayed on the East side, so can’t comment on the West side). The toilet and shower facilities are always clean and well presented - although the tiny buttons on the security coded door entry lock are rather irritating. It’s a shame there’s need for a coded entry - many club sites don’t have these. There’s a nice little playground for the kiddies, so a good option for young families, but as a senior person travelling alone I prefer to avoid school holidays for the peace and quiet! I’ve always found the staff friendly and helpful, and they’ve been flexible when I’ve needed to request a late departure at short notice. The site appears to attract a high proportion of dog lovers - presumably the lovely Ferry Meadows park area close by is a draw for dog walking (?). But as someone who is pretty neutral towards dogs, the territorial barking can be a little annoying. Dog lovers seem oblivious to this noise nuisance to others, but I’m not sure that site staff can influence this - other than demarcating a specific site area for those accompanied by their pets. Might this be possible? Overall, though, this is a lovely site in a very attractive location. I shall certainly be returning before too long.
Lovely but Wardens need to calm down
Lovely site, loads to do for families, close to lots of amenities and would return again. But.....the shower block on the East side (although clean) needs an update as they are a bit tired. Some of the wardens need some customer service training. I'm all for rules but they are not all on the welcome pack. Can't use an electric splitter which is nonsense. It doesn't use double the electric, just helps to run an outside awning fridge conveniently. One warden proper shouted at my wife because our dog was on an extendable lead of about 3m instead of 2m. So rude and aggressive. He wasnt bothered at all about the three kids on illegal e-scooters whizzing around the site at 15mph without helmets scaring the life out of some of the older campers. They also refused to help some poor bloke whose battery had run flat on his car. 'Sorry we'll get sued if it goes wrong" he said. I mean really!!!! Fortunately I had some jump leads and was able to assist. Just buy a site jump pack that can be used if you don't want to physically assist. Finally checking in at 1pm was a nightmare. Lots of cars queuing up on the main road outside even though there was a sign saying not to. Caused problems for others trying to get by. Not sure this is the fault of CAMC though. These issues aside we will return as we had a good time but the shine was taken off by a couple of over zealous employees.

Short stay
The site is local to us and we often use it for short breaks. On this visit it was particularly busy and there were lots of children around who did exactly what they pleased with no supervision especially around the toilet area. People were allowing dogs to bark constantly with no respect at all for others campers around them. The biggest worry was that people continued to use charcoal barbeques with the conditions so dry that it was a recipe for disaster and they were not stopped. Some very friendly wardens this time which makes a change John especially a nice guy who always passed the time of day with you. Clearly understaffed though.
Noisy few days
We use Ferry Meadows quite often and stayed for six nights in mid August so expected it to be busy , but didn’t quite expect the noise levels to be so bad, children everywhere and they especially seemed to love the toilets and gathered there using as much soap and water as possible, parents seem to think it’s okay to just let them do as they please . But worst of all was barking dogs that people do not even try to keep quiet.Nice to see some friendly wardens at the site this time all seemed to be working extra hard as they were short staffed John in particular always passed the time of day. Was surprised to see people still using charcoal barbecues even though the conditions were so dry and a real fire hazard .
Another good stay apart from noisy dogs!
This was our 5th visit here in the past 18 months and the reason why we keep returning? It is because generally it is a superb stay. Several previous comments on here go on about being turned away if you arrive early. My answer - don't turn up before 1pm which is the book in time so serves you right!!! - Yes, you might have come a distance and I appreciate it is difficult to judge, but park up nearby. The wardens are busy people and do a good job. We arrived around 1.30pm and was met by a friendly warden at the gate, I checked in to an even friendlier warden and chose a grass pitch on the east side, the other side of the road. Although the site was busy there was still plenty of spots. We plotted up and let the wardens know where we were staying. All I can say about them is they were busy friendly people. The amount of rubbish placed in the bins, they were even emptying them at 8pm!!
The toilet and shower blocks even though getting a little outdated were clean and tidy.
The worst thing about the stay were the people with yappy dogs!! All day at everybody who when within 50 feet. The owners turned a blind eye. If my visit was longer I would have reported to the wardens but as they were so busy I didn't on this occasion.
All I can say is try it, the lake and surrounds are closeby and perfect.

Spacious grass pitches with plenty of playing space
We took our grandchildren for a couple of nights and they really enjoyed it. We pitched on a large grassy area between the amenity block and the play area. The adjacent Ferry Meadows / Nene Park has lots of attractions including safe cycling, watersports and a little railway.
I'd suggest a couple of improvements as follows. Many CMC sites have lead-off dog exercise areas so I'd like to request one here please. It need not be large; just a fenced off area with a gate. They guy who seemed to be in charge advised me to contact head office - I wondered why there was not a system for logging comments on site? The water fill point (East side, first one on the right past the amenity block) had a loose tap. I was advised 'It's on the list; they're all like it" - perhaps a better response might have been "thanks; we'll get onto it" Also the CEP tap was at an awkward angle.
This is a great site; especially for those with youngsters.
Great site for one or two nights.
Visited in July 2022. Excellent quick check check in system despite there being a large numbers of arrivals. Just give your name and membership card to either of the 2 wardens others were in attendance directing you. and off you go to get sited. Return at your leisure to pay/checkin and retrieve you card.
Great location for nature lovers. Nearby park well worth a look.

Very Good for very large Motorhomes
Having a very large American Winnebago motorhome can prove challenging when looking for suitable pitches. called ahead and a very good space was reseved, arrival nice and simple, park up nice and simple, lovely site with trees and layout makes it very country feel. Few times i needed staff help, always friendly and helpful, will definately use again on my Winnebago Travels.
Uncooperative staff
We arrived on Friday 29th July 2022 for a weekend stay that we had planned together with my sister and her family. We travelled separately to the site, and we arrived mid-afternoon. Unfortunately, my sister was delayed on her journey due to a traffic accident and diversion. We advised the campsite reception staff of this upon arrival and asked for an adjacent pitch to be reserved for them. We made this request because my sister's adult daughter has special needs and suffers anxiety when placed in an unfamiliar situation. This would be far less likely to occur if our two motorhomes were pitched side by side. The staff refused this request, despite my sister having made a booking and being en route to the site. The site was far from being at full capacity and we found several suitable locations where adjacent pitches were available. We subsequently set up and placed a table and chairs on the adjacent pitch, awaiting arrival of my sister's motorhome within the next hour. There was no issue with this until these were spotted by a staff member driving past on an ATV. He rudely insisted that the table and chairs were removed and would not entertain any discussion, simply repeating that "rules is rules" (sic). My sister actually arrived 10 minutes later and came through to the adjacent pitch which was unsurprisingly still available, as were the others around us. There were no new arrivals after my sister which the staff would clearly have known. It was not a pleasant experience and confrontational for no apparent reason. This uncooperative and unhelpful treatment by the site staff spoiled our holiday and we will not be returning. This is the second poor experience that we have had with CAMC and we will not be using them again.
Shame about the welcome
The site is great for families with play area and proximity to the Ferry Meadows country park. Shame about the welcome. We arrived at 12:50 and yes the arrival time was 1pm but we were somewhat surprised to be turned away at the barrier to drive around for a few minutes before being allowed in at 1pm. We would expect to have at least been allowed to park in arrivals lane even if we couldn't check in for a few minute. Welcome apart the site is in a great location and well maintained. The toilet blocks could do with a refurbishment but were clean.
