First visit

Stayed here for 4 nights. Had a bit of trouble deciding which was the entrance. Sat nav said approaching on the right but our entrance was actually on the left. Security guard made sure we were in the right place. Its a massive campsite. Check in was quick and easy and friendly. We were given a choice of pitches and told where the quieter areas were. Once we had chosen our pitch I went back to let reception know and get our gate pass. All the facilities were explained fully and we could also order newspapers. TV reception was horrendous so we purchased an extra long aerial wire to plug into the box which worked perfectly and has proved useful on other sites since. We were there for the cycling and although it was busy getting through the nature reserve the cycling routes were amazing. Getting into town was all off road and very easy. Toilets, showers and washing up area were very clean considering the amount of people on site and the water was nice and hot. A fish and chip van came to site on Wednesday which was great as we had been out cycling all day and didn't want to cook. There are a couple of pubs within walking distance. We would definitely recommend this site and we would stay here again

2nd visit

This was our second visit to Ferry Meadows. A lovely site and very handy for the country park. Friendly wardens. Only slight worry I had was the number of dogs on site that were not on leads and just wandering around partially staffies (I know deed not breed). Had no problems but still was a little worried about having loose dogs around the baby. Otherwise a fab site.

very good site

Site was easy to access with no narrow lanes or gates to negotiate. Pitches were a good size, well laid out and facilities kept very clean. Great walks direct from the site and if you like steam trains you can go to station only yards away. We have stayed on two separate occasions in August and would happily go back. Only disappointment was paying for the poor quality of WIFI signal as neither of our mobile phones could get signal to use 3 network.

Not for us

Stayed for three nights in early August, whilst I expected the site to be busy with children it was a nightmare and I am amazed there were no accidents or nasty incidents as far as I know. Each time we arrived having been out for the day there were groups of children, some very young indeed riding their bikes on the roads around the site, many the wrong way on the one way system. It was very unnerving having to negotiate the site roads as these riders appeared to be coming from any angle at breakneck speed on and over the roads with no sense of danger. All without apparent parental supervision or control During the evenings (we were out in the day) there were large groups of children playing and hanging around the toilet block, again unsupervised by anyone. On arrival on our last evening moving very slowly to avoid the kamikaze child cyclists a very loud BANG of the side of our motorhome. On stoping and investigation I found it was caused by the large football a teenager had been kicking his pal on the other side of the road, he obviously could not be bothered to pause as we passed. Luckily no damage but a foot or so either way and the impact would have smashed through a window. Throughout our stay we saw no apparent supervision of the children I describe although of course I understand they were a minority of the children on the site but because it was so busy it seemed a total fee for all. During our visit I saw no wardens/site staff attempting to take control to prevent obvious danger to the children or ask their parents to do so either in respect of bike riding or playing around toilet blocks. Having said all that the site was well maintained with clean facilities. Its in a great location for the country park and I suppose thats the reason for so many children. It may be different at no so busy periods but anyone looking for a little sanity and peace and quite should go elsewhere. Especially at around £28 a night.

A great few days away.

Had a superb few days away at Ferry Meadows. The site was kept very well and the wardens were superb. This is the first site we can honestly say is spot on. 10/10.

A wonderful site

We visited for 5 nights with 2 grandchildren and a dog and could not fault the site , the proximity to the country park and to the steam train running into Peterborough made this a wonderful site for all of us . The wardens were so friendly and hard working and the showers and toilets were spotless . The site was very busy as it was school holidays but didn't seem over crowded as it is a really big area. There are two sides one has a great new play area and if you have children the wardens guide you to this  side , the other is quieter and seemed to be populated by adults only .There is a  Fish and chip van which  visits the site but the food was not to our taste ,the daily visits by the ice cream van went down a treat though . All in all a wonderful site.

5 star site

Our second visit to this site and no less impressed than we were on the first occasion. Our first visit was made 'off season' whereas it was very busy at the time of our latest visit. What did impress us was the fast and efficient way the staff dealt with new arrivals yet were still able to offer a very warm welcome. Although the site covers a big area and can be very busy it is laid out in such a way that, when pitched, you get the impression you are on just one of a series of smaller sites. The facilities up to the usual CC high standard. Being situated next to the Country Park it is ideal for nature lovers and walkers and it is a dog walker's paradise.

Our August holiday

We love Ferry Meadows and stay every August with our granddaughters and they also love the site. We always stay on the east side as it is mostly families and usually pitch near the play area. This year we looked for a different area for a pitch as now the play area has been expanded it is very cramped and noisey. We found a lovely pitch and had plenty of room around the caravan for the girls to play. The girls were very happy apart from us saying you cannot play ball games around the caravan, which they refrained from doing. Our gripe is we tell our granddaughters not to play ball games around the caravans, only to see cricket, tennis and football games played where ever we looked. No wardens telling them to stop playing ball games like last years wardens. There is a football/ basket ball court and Ferry Meadows park, so why don't families use these facilities instead of playing right next to the caravans, as caravans are costly to repair. Please wardens put more signs up no ball games.
