We stayed her for 8 nights from 17th to 25th July
We were greeted by very friendly wardens who were very helpful.
All the Covid19 social distancing measures had been put in place and people on site seemed to adhere to these which was good
The site is lovely surrounded by trees and woodland. A short 5 -10 minute walk through the woods brings you to the local pub which serves food
There is also a butchers in the village which we heard was good, but apart from that there wasn't much else with regard to facilities nearby, you would need to use your car to get to a local shop/supermarket, although not too far away - probably 10 minutes in the car
If you are looking to get away from it all then this site is for you
There are a lot of walks around the site, great if you have a dog
We hope to be back again !!
Getaway
After "lockdown", our first trip away. Well, what a super site. The wardens have been very busy and the site was immaculate. We were blessed with good weather, only rained one night. Lovely walks and great for doggies. We'll be back!
Glad to be back
We are so glad to be back out in our van and also that we chose Fairlight Wood for our first trip once the Covid restrictions were eased. We have to say a huge thank you to the wardens who have obviously worked really hard to get everything ready and to book people in day one. The site is well known for being quiet and peaceful and an ideal place for dogs and walkers alike. It didn’t disappoint. It was lovely to be greeted with cheerful warm smiles, and throughout our stay whenever we saw the wardens they went out of their way to say hi and check on how everyone was doing in this new environment despite the fact they clearly had a much bigger cleaning workload. A great deal of thought has clearly gone into making the site operate in a way that ensures our safety as well as possible which was really good to see. It was our new Labradors first outing in our van and he had a wonderful time as did our other two with lovely walks and woods to enjoy. However, what really made our visit this time was the welcome and hard work of the wardens. We were always planning to visit again as we love the area and the warmth and friendliness of the onsite team so we’d like to thank them for all their hard work.

Super little site
Just returned from a lovely three night stay at Fairlight during very trying times due to the National outbreak of Coronavirus. Beautiful and peaceful location with very welcoming and friendly staff. Hygiene levels were really excellent, with extra cleaning routines put in place at least four times a day and also social distancing being observed all over the site including at check in. Can’t thank the team enough for their hard work and we will be sure to visit again when life returns to normal.
Secluded, wooded and very well run
A marvellous, small, private site, with all the right facilities (and no more). Helpful and professional staff, showers free, large and toasty hot. Our dogs loved it - kept popping out the 'van for a sniff around the woods - even though the weather was stormy and very wet. The hardstanding pitches are neat, but private. 10 mins walk to the pub 'The Two Sawyers' excellent food & beer & chatty locals - it was buzzing on both the Friday & Sat nights. Thanks for the great stay and we will return!
Fabulous, again!
Just back from our third visit to the site this year, and it was as always great. The club facilities first class as always. What makes this site, apart from the brilliant location is John and Susan the management team, who are so welcoming, and just downright helpful, just the two of them running the small site, and whats even better, they're back next year, and so are we. Thanks to you both.
Peace, perfect peace
This was our second visit this year as we loved it so much the first time. The site is small but perfectly formed. We were very fortunate to have picked the most glorious September weekend. Our main activity at weekends is walking in the morning and relaxing in the afternoon with a bike ride or two thrown in. The site is the starting point for many excellent walks that encompass, woods, fields and the coast. Lovely biking although some seriously challenging hills for the less fit. The peace and quiet is a joy. If you want somewhere to get away from it all and be able to relax completely then I would highly recommend it. The access road is narrow as mentioned so attending to the instructions in the handbook is essential.
Hidden gem.
First time here after being on IoW for nearly a week. Super secluded site with great wardens, lacking only a full-width motorhome waste grate. The Two Sawyers, very dog friendly pub with great food and service is a short walk away but remember to take torches once it gets dark. Bus into Hastings was an adventure and old Hastings was fascinating with some of the oldest buildings in the country. Fresh seafood from the Stade highly recommended.
We lost a wheel retaining nut on our dog trailer the day before arriving but the warden was able to not only find a correctly sized replacement but the correct nylock type to boot - definitely above and beyond. Thanks very much. Definitely on our "will return" list.
Lovely, very peaceful site with a great pub a few minutes walk through the woods
Our second visit, taking friends with us this time. The site is very quiet and we immediately relaxed after a busy week. Wardens are friendly and helpful and facilities very clean, although could do with a couple more washing-up sinks. Great walks through the woods and along the coast at Pett Level and around Fairlight. The Two Sawyers pub, a few minutes walk through the woods, has a friendly atmosphere and serves good food. We will definitely be back soon.
Great little site
Our second visit to Fairlight Wood and we were blessed with beautiful weather, our pitch no 35 was level and spacious although some others appeared smaller. Friendly welcome from unobtrusive wardens , small selection of essentials and ice cream available in reception. Facilities were maintained in immaculate condition and although site was full never had to queue. Great walks from site into Guestling woods and short stroll to Two Sawyers pub which is friendly and serves excellent food. A peaceful site with total silence at night. We visited Rye a lovely historical town with independant shops and lots of cafes and restaurants and Pett beach, large areas of which are dog friendly and our pooch enjoyed a dip in the sea to cool off, note there is no dog walk on site but as site is surrounded by woods, it was not a problem to us. Negatives, bin area was overflowing probably because site was full and they only have dustbins not dumpsters. Access road to site is very narrow with only a few passing places so dont try and arrive early ! Very much enjoyed our stay and will definately return a very good CAMC site.
