Hadn't visited this site before, despite visiting the area quite often. It's a very nice location, set in a wood. Very quiet and peaceful, but with easy access to all the attractions of the area. Definitely one to return to
Twice is not enough
Just finished our second visit , everything from peace tranquillity walks pubs sights towns coast history and plenty of woods, are all on your door step, the night sky is spell binding, site exceptional has it all oh did I mention the variety of fantastic walks , canals coastal parks woods
OS explorer map opens new things you never realised were on your doorstep , and discover an area rich with History, every walk has some form of refreshment to saviour .
easy to fill 5 days rammed with things to do and relax every evening, probably what makes all this beautiful is it's not really that much fun for the poor teenagers ,alas somebody's lose is others gain .
Not a massive site so everything near as is woods edge , nature and complete quiet.
Hope our third visit charms us as well as the previous two.
Keep this to yourself......
Fantastic site, location perfect, tucked away in the woods. Facilities spotless. The management team in John and Susan Dick are without doubt the most helpful and friendly we have ever encountered in thirty years, nothing was too much trouble, all done with a smile - a real one! We have just returned from ten days - for my wife, two weekends for me - where we relaxed, walked, watched the abundant wildlife, oh and chilled! Our first visit, have just re-booked!
One note of caution, the last 500m along Watermill Lane is very narrow single carriageway, new arrivals should be after 1300, and those leaving should do so promptly by 1200, or there is likely to be tears before bedtime.
What a gem
This was our first visit to Fairlight Wood, we booked ourselves in for five nights ( wish it could of been so much longer) Although arriving slightly later than planed the greeting received was fantastic 👍 the wardens were lovely and gave us all the necessary info. The woodland walks are wonderful, our two little shih tzu dogs had a fab time 😎 they loved the woodland trail to the Two sayers pub as much as us lol, heading to the other end of the village you will find the Royal Oak pub, and in between there is a lovely tea room. We have another six nights booked for the end of April, I know you should not wish your life away but it can not come quick enough.

My favourite CMC site so far
We are staying here at the moment and it's beautiful...even in last night's very rough weather with high winds and lashing rain! The site staff are very helpful, facilities immaculate and there's a very good pub 5 minutes walk through the woods. Fairlight Wood is small but there's still a choice of shaded or open pitches. There's no playground but the site is surrounded by beautiful woodland for our grandchildren to let off steam. Today, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the air is full of birdsong. I can't wait to come back when the bluebells are in flower.

booked for 2019
stayed 2 nights in our campervan. Great location. Great staff team 👍👍 Happy campers. Good for Hastings.
A Little Gem
We have just come back from our second week here in two years. It is a great access point for the surrounding area and has good walks from the site and close by. Hastings Country Park is not far and offers numerous walks. The pub through the woods, The Two Sawyers is great and the Royal Oak further away in the village is super for food too. There is a relatively new cafe in the village called Tic Toc and is well worth a visit as their cakes are to die for. The site is well presented and the facilities clean. The wardens were welcoming and friendly. My only beef was the hose on the Chemical Toilet point was too short and stiff so rinsing the cassette was difficult. I can see us going back again next year as we have more to explore. The Steam Giants of Brede are well worth a visit but be aware that opening times are rare.

Good site in a great location
Chose a pitch for our motorhome that was central and so away from trees and thought it was ideal for our 4 night stay. Only a small site so short walk to clean, warm facilities block and to local pub. Warden was very helpful and small shop sells basic items including local walking maps (in aid of Air Ambulance). Great shorter walks available in Guestling Wood immediately opposite campsite, and easy access to lots of other longer walks and cycle routes (with a few challenging hills !) Walked to Hastings via public footpaths which led along cliff tops and through Hastings Country Park where you can see Exmoor ponies and Galloway cattle bought in to manage the heathland. Fantastic walk through a lot of wooded glens including some steep tracks and steps. Well worth doing if you enjoy hiking - about 14 mile round trip. Found the whole area very cycle friendly too which we enjoyed and lots of local attractions to visit. For us, who wanted to bike and walk the locality, and who wanted a nice quiet site in beautiful surroundings, it was definitely the right choice.
a tricky one to review
We stayed 6 nights recently. The usual immaculate facilities block. We were allocated a choice of two pitches both of which were taken. Ended up in what appears to probably have been at some point, a quarry. This is probably the least nice part of the site. The pitches are very uneven and blocks are required. A bit untidy too, the vegetation around each pitch needs attention. The pitch next to us was surrounded by nettles. Pitches in the main part looked much better. Wish we'd settled on one of those. The site is in a wood. There are many trees on site. Just so you now. shady. There is no provision for children. Now child-haters will be pleased but if you are also intolerant of dogs you will be disappointed. No problems brought about by dogs though, but note there is no dog walk, just a path through the woods which has very rough terrain and require stout shoes or boots. Pub a short walk through said woods but I wouldn't tackle the route in the dark. The road to the village has no footpath and is surprisingly busy as is the village of Pett. No footpaths either. Most of the niggles I have with this site are nothing to do with the site itself just the roads being dangerous for pedestrians, terrible phone signal and a bit to much shade(Made the place cold and dank) Would I stay again? unlikely

Best site on the network??
For us the perfect site, small, gorgeous pitches, quiet, 4 minute walk to an excellent dog friendly and people friendly pub. Fabulous Guestling Woodland across the road plus lots to see in the area. Usual high standards in the facilities, lovely wardens. Excellent thank you.
