Peaceful birdsong

This is a lovely site. Surrounded by woods, bluebells, birdsong and peace. We were greeted by the warden who was SO kind and friendly we felt immediately safe and welcome. Just a short wander through the woods and you’re at the Two Sawyers pub and a few miles down the road to Pett level beach. Great cream tea options at the Tic Tockery ( just down the road). Clean quiet shower block. We couldn’t get reception on the telly, probably due to the trees. We will come again. Highly recommend.

Beautiful woodland break

Thank you Cheryl and Dean for a wonderfully peaceful break on your very well managed site. The woodland setting full of the scent and colour of bluebells and wood anemones is a rare treat. Cheryl gave us a lovely welcome and Dean was always smiling as he quietly worked around the site (no noisy buggies flying up and down here!). It was truly relaxing and we hope to return one day.

Lovely little site

Lovely peaceful site set in beautiful woodlands with plenty of pathways to explore. The site facilities are somewhat dated but immaculately clean as was the entire site. The wardens, Dean and Cheryl were fantastic, we were greeted with the warmest welcome, and nothing was to much trouble, a real asset to the club and made our stay all the better.

Peaceful site

Our first visit to this lovely small clean site.We had three nights and the weather was good for walking and cycling .The managers are very helpful and friendly. Great location, plenty of walks straight from site. We were given very helpful walking route info from the site managers . We did have a nice bike ride down to Pett along to Winchelsea and through Icklesham there is a nice pub called Robin Hood which is at the top of Watermill lane .Two sawyers pub is nice and a short walk from site , we were able to pick up a news paper from the local butchers which is a short walk from site too. Old Hastings was lovely and Hastings country park has some great walking trails. We did the Three Glens. We have recommended this site to our Motorhome friends and we will definitely come back.

Superb peaceful site

Just returned from a week on this site.weather was superb so really enjoyed the walks available from site. The walk to Pett Level is well worth the effort!Wardens very friendly and helpful. Two pubs offering food available in easy walking from the site, Two Sawyers and The Royal Oak, of the two for us the Royal Oak food was better ( exceptional Sunday Roast, food home made). You must visit the cafe up from the Two Sawyers ( it’s part of the hairdresser) called The Tic Tocery, has patio area at rear with amazing view and quality of coffee and cakes superb. If you visit Rye go to the Old Borough Arms and sit on the outside balconies to watch the world go by and eat freshest fish batches we have ever had. You won’t be disappointed Buses pretty regular through week but only two on Saturday. Site I feel is more for adults as would need transport to take children to be entertained Will definitely be back

Very nice campsite

We really enjoyed our stay at Fairlight Wood. The site is well laid out, well kept and tranquil. The location is great for exploring Hastings and the surrounding areas. Walking from the site is lovely. A large woodland trust wood to explore next door or a short stroll in the other direction to the local pub which serves good food and is dog friendly. We will definitely be using this site again.

Wonderful Woodland Location

Lovely, peaceful site in a woodland setting. Pitches were well laid out and facilities well kept and easily accessible. Our dog loved the woodland walks right by the site. Two Sawyers pub 10 mins away has a great atmosphere and served good food and drink (and very dog friendly). Well situated for the coast and lots of lovely countryside / landmarks nearby. Cheryl and Dean (site managers) were super friendly and helpful. If you want a relaxing location with the sites and sounds of nature, this site is perfect. Have already booked an upcoming 2 night stay. Highly recommended.

Great site for peace and dogs!

A smallish site nestled in woodland. Good facilities as you would expect from CAMC. An excellent site for dog walking as there are woodland walks directly from the site. Good for visiting Hastings, Battle, and Rye.

Our favourite site of the year

What a lovely site! And such nice wardens too. We were incredibly lucky and had one of the 'central' hardstanding pitches with plenty of grass to the rear and which got as much sun as possible for this time of year. Probably the best pitch we have had in a long time. Some of the pitches under the trees at the 'bottom' end of the site lacked any sun but would probably be fine in the summer. The site is spotless and kept so nice. Wardens are friendly, helpful and full of information - a great welcome and a wave when we passed by during our week's stay. We were visiting family in Hastings, but thoroughly enjoyed our time at the site. Very slightly marred by a rather inconsiderate and noisy group of friends who forgot awnings are not soundproof! Perfect for our dogs - the site owns the attached woods and there is Guestling wood absolutely opposite the entrance and a lovely place for the dogs to run. And 5 minutes drive away is dog friendly Pett Level beach. The site has a dog wash which is great for those of us with mud/sea and salt loving dogs. I'd give them 5 out of 5 paws for dog friendliness. Reception has a good supply of essentials and the vital book exchange and there is an excellent information room. You will gather we loved the site. It's an easy drive into Hastings and don't forget Hastings has it's own fishing fleet and fish is sold in the little beachside shacks straight off the boats (fresh mackeral on the BBQ - oh bliss). We love Hastings for it's vibrancy, quirkiness and laid back vibe (visit the old town for independent shops and as much tea, coffee and cake as you can eat). But we visited Dungeness - Derek Jarman's shingle garden and fish and chips at the Britannia Inn, the beautiful church in Winchelsea and we paddled in the sea at Pett Level. We gave the rather over touristy Rye a miss. The sun largely shone, we ate a lot of cake, fish and chips and ice cream. And we had a wonderful time. Thank you lovely wardens - Fairlight may be our favourite site of the year - or actually of all time. See you next year.

Our favourite site to visit

Neil and Caroline and their warmth, sense of humour and the efficient and helpful service and a high standard of upkeep on this site, make it the most wonderful place to stay. We managed to book a spontaneous day here as there had been a cancellation and Caroline contacted us immediately. We are relatively new camper van owners but have visited here on 6 occasions. Apart from the tranquil setting and the beautiful surrounding area, the 2 excellent pubs within walking ( one within staggering!) distance and other amenities in Pett, make it a great place to explore for a short or longer break. Thank you and we can’t wait to return.
