Nice site

This is a very nice site and close to Torquay, Paignton and Dawlish. We have used this site for many years and it is a pity that the shower block has never been updated.  The water pressure is very slow and the shower heads do not come off the wall. This is my only criticism of this very nice site.

Value for money

Stayed at this site for 2weeks.ideal position for visits to coast or inland.plenty of national trust sites to explore.easy access to site. Toilet/showers are dated but spotless. We'll run by wardens.even with the racecourse being used for park&ride for the bbc  big event festival the site was peaceful and quiet at all times.

Lovely site

Lovely site with lovely wardens. Great for dog walks and plenty of space for kids to play.  Only negative was the showers. They were spotlessly clean but had to run around to get wet (poor flow) and the water was cold with the occasional warm bit.

Handy Location

Used this site to help family members to move house, but what a charming little site! Quite small but with a big open feel. Surrounded by heathland and forest walks, atop a hill so you could see for miles. Eateries within walking distance, just under the underpass on the A38 and in the forest park. Facilities fairly basic but absolutely spotless. Wardens very friendly and cheerful, if a bit enthusiastic on eradicating snails from the freshly planted flower beds - it worked though!! The only fault was the proximity of the A38 (which in Devon almost counts as a motorway). Depending on the direction of the wind you could definitely hear the traffic. But all in all a lovely site whether you are visiting the area, which is beautiful, being right on the edge of Dartmoor and only a couple of miles to the coast, or a stop off on the way to Cornwall. We will definitely visit again, we have family in Exeter now and a lovely site to stay on!

Very good site

A nice spot on top of Haldon hill, especially if you like horse racing. A very well run site with  extremely friendly wardens. Facilities all good, clean and well looked after. Nice walk all around the racecourse on a Tarmac path. Bus stop outside on main road, if you need Exeter you have to go to chudleigh and change to go back.  You can walk to Haldon forest, nice walks there and a diner and shop are easily accessible from the site going under the main road. Half price entry to racecourse for campsite guests.

Excellent quiet site

we come here regularly and love the area. Plenty of walks and drives over Dartmoor and down to the coast. Exeter is good for food, especially Michael Caines Abode restaurant opposite the cathederal.

Great site

This is a great site in a really good location for walking and cycling.  There is some minor noise from the nearby A38 but overall I would describe the site as very quiet. Although the site has no play area for children there is so much space around the site for them to play that this is not a problem. There is a small tarmac road which runs all the way around the race track and this is ideal for them to ride their bikes.  You can also walk and cycle for miles from the site. Some people have commented about the access from the A38 southbound - it is quite a sharp turn off the carriageway which can be easily missed and in my opinion, it is dangerous.  There is an easy alternative route in. From the M5 southbound at Splatford Split (where the A38 goes to Plymouth and the A380 goes to Torquay) take the A380.  Take the the first exit which is at the top of the hill, at the T junction go right and take the bridge across the carriageway.  At the next T junction go right and approx a mile down the road you will see the racecourse on the left.

Great site

A lovely site where it is possible to walk the dog for a couple of miles or a short walk as you please. We arrived when in the middle of racing but didn't experience any difficulty accessing the site. A good site for accessing many attractions in South Devon. The showers and toilets are immaculately clean. We had the last hard standing which had deep, loose chippings. The motor mover struggled to move the caravan and we needed to push the caravan as well to site it. When we came to leave we had to drive over the pitch in front in order to pull the caravan out of the chippings. We have never experienced this previously and presume the chippings were newly laid. We like to use hard standings not grass and wish there were more on this site. This was our second visit this year and will visit again next year.

Peaceful site.

Not much to say about this that hasnt been said - nice pitches, friendly helpful wardens, lots of walks, facilities are basic but very clean and functional. Its location is ideal for visiting so many places, the diner near by (short walk) is well worth a visit, the food is great. Only downside for me is that being in a campervan, either I take the van out to visit locations or public transport, the public transport is limited i.e. to get to Exeter takes a while since you have to away from Exeter and then back. But that is not the fault of the site which is, overall, excellent. Definitely be going back.
