Excellent quiet site

we come here regularly and love the area. Plenty of walks and drives over Dartmoor and down to the coast. Exeter is good for food, especially Michael Caines Abode restaurant opposite the cathederal.

Great site

This is a great site in a really good location for walking and cycling.  There is some minor noise from the nearby A38 but overall I would describe the site as very quiet. Although the site has no play area for children there is so much space around the site for them to play that this is not a problem. There is a small tarmac road which runs all the way around the race track and this is ideal for them to ride their bikes.  You can also walk and cycle for miles from the site. Some people have commented about the access from the A38 southbound - it is quite a sharp turn off the carriageway which can be easily missed and in my opinion, it is dangerous.  There is an easy alternative route in. From the M5 southbound at Splatford Split (where the A38 goes to Plymouth and the A380 goes to Torquay) take the A380.  Take the the first exit which is at the top of the hill, at the T junction go right and take the bridge across the carriageway.  At the next T junction go right and approx a mile down the road you will see the racecourse on the left.

Great site

A lovely site where it is possible to walk the dog for a couple of miles or a short walk as you please. We arrived when in the middle of racing but didn't experience any difficulty accessing the site. A good site for accessing many attractions in South Devon. The showers and toilets are immaculately clean. We had the last hard standing which had deep, loose chippings. The motor mover struggled to move the caravan and we needed to push the caravan as well to site it. When we came to leave we had to drive over the pitch in front in order to pull the caravan out of the chippings. We have never experienced this previously and presume the chippings were newly laid. We like to use hard standings not grass and wish there were more on this site. This was our second visit this year and will visit again next year.

Peaceful site.

Not much to say about this that hasnt been said - nice pitches, friendly helpful wardens, lots of walks, facilities are basic but very clean and functional. Its location is ideal for visiting so many places, the diner near by (short walk) is well worth a visit, the food is great. Only downside for me is that being in a campervan, either I take the van out to visit locations or public transport, the public transport is limited i.e. to get to Exeter takes a while since you have to away from Exeter and then back. But that is not the fault of the site which is, overall, excellent. Definitely be going back.

Well worth a visit

Nice flat pitches, friendly helpful wardens...what's not to like? Location is great for a stopover or a longer stay, there are miles of dog walks and the views are super. Facilities are basic but very clean. We have stayed on several racecourse sites and this is easily the best.

Super Location

The location of this site is brilliant - so much to do nearby, including Dawlish, Teignmouth and Exeter, with Torbay near too. Lovely wardens and although the facilities are basic, they are clean and do the job well. BUT - the wooden draining boards in the dishwashing area need changing; they certainly look a bit of a health hazard, I wouldn't put anything damp on them ! Come on CC - these need changing to stainless steel !

Handy for Haldon Forest

We often use this site as a stop over when travelling from the the East Midlands to Cornwall, as it is very convenient being situated just off the A38. The facilities are basic but clean and the pitches are nicely spaced to make the most of the open vista across the racecourse. However, the main attraction, if like me you are into mountain biking, is Haldon Forest MTB trails - just 5 minutes ride away with trails suitable for all abilities. There's also some great walks and a nice cafe at the visitor centre.

Good site made better by best wardens!

This is a good easy to access site. In our case near a friend who lives down a lane impossible for a motorvan! The wardens really added value, they are very thoughtful and helpful.

Lovely site

I have used this as a stop over as few times. The site is lovely and situated right in the middle of the racecourse. The wardens were lovely, and always on hand to help. The only downside was the toilet blocks are rather old, but were clean. I will be staying again on the way to devon, maybe new toilet blocks have been built ?, will see.
