We have used this site several times but only ever as a stop over from Lincolnshire to Scotland , it hasn't got full facilities but the description does state this , every time we have stayed we say we must book to stay longer it is such a pretty well kept site , very quiet , don't think I would recommend for older children because it does give the feel of been very quiet and no play area , it would make a perfect get away from it all site for people who aren't bothered about a site that has everything.
In my opinion.....
We have just spent 4 nights at this beautiful site in the northern Lake District and will be back. We cannot comment about lack of facilities because it is stated in the site description and in all honesty, at half the price of a CC site with facilities, then I am not complaining. The wardens, the Lamberts, were fantastic, helpful, approachable, sincere, friendly and above all, we found them extremely welcoming. I have given 5 stars for 'good for families' because in my opinion, the great outdoors is the best playground, who needs swings and a climbing frame. Lovely quiet site even when full, nothing rowdy occuring, pitches are so well spaced that you do not hear next doors tv over your own. Really, naturally dark at night, no light pollution from anywhere and the lights from the service poles are not directly next to each van. I love this site and will be back, it's less than 2 hours from home and although used a lot for over nighters, we would easily manage 7 days plus. The site is well maintained, clean and pretty and at the wardens bequest, feel free to nose on pitch if you can take advantage of the lovely countryside views which a lot of pitches on this site offered. As long as the van is put in line with the regulation white post, it does not infringe on any health and safety regs as the pitches were massive anyway.

Lovely stopover!
We stopped here overnight on Mon 31st August after phoning as we made our way north from Devon via Suffolk. The welcome from the Warden was very friendly and the pitch excellent. A perfect stopover enroute to the Isle of Skye. We would happily return both for a stopover or for longer.

thank you for a great stay
Wow what a great site. Spent à whole week here with the kids, a lovely quiet site which enabled my son to build the confidence he needed to ride his bike (no stopping him now!) Great walks around the nearby forest, dogs were in heaven. Fish & chips on a Friday is a great idea, but unfortunately not value for money. Staff are fantastic and very friendly. Very picturesque within easy driving distance of both Carlisle & Lake District. As mentioned on another review don't follow satnav! Will definitely be returning. Thanks for a great holiday.
Beautiful site
Just had few days at this lovely site. Have to agree with previos reviews don't pitch any lower then pitch 40 as when it rains lower pitches flood. Didn't miss a toilet block. Not really a place for children as nothing for them to do.Dont use sat nav use caravan club book for final approach. Was lucky to see a red squirrel will defiantly come back for a longer stay as throughly enjoyed the peace and quite

Peaceful Site
Lovely peaceful site, staff are welcoming and friendly. It is split into sections so we could find a quiet spot. Beautiful woodland setting with Red squirrels (unfortunately we didn't see one) Situated close to the M6, we stopped over on the way to Scotland and certainly will again. Don't use sat nav / postcode to find. Thank you for a lovely stay.
A welcoming site
The site wardens went out of their way to fit my wife and I in this bank holiday weekend. As it was also our first time in a caravan they did their utmost to get us close to our experienced friends, explained any necessary rules and regulations and were exceptionally patient and kind. A credit to the club.
happy caravaners
staff were excellent, site clean, we had just purchased the caravan and had teething problems but staff were great and helped sort things out 10/10 cheers
