Stopping off point

We stayed for 3 nights on our way up to Scotland, the site is beautiful and very well cared for, it is a credit to the wardens who are very nice and helpfull. It a shame there is no toilet or shower but it's not that important as we have onboard facilities even in our little Eriba.  We would imagine that in late April early May the Rhododendrons will be absolutely stunning. We will definitely be going back!

Beautiful site

This site is just, lovely. Quiet and next to delightful forest walks. It is beautifully maintained and laid out. The wardens were friendly. Although no toilet block I am very much looking forward to staying here again!

Pleasant stop

Stayed overnight on our route home from Scotland. Pleased about the price due to not having shower and toilet block. Very nice dog walk route. Bumpy country road to get to site however, not appreciated by the motorhome. Did not explore the area. Drove through to Armathwaite the nextdayand couldn't find parking for motorhome so continued on to the M6. Fabulous farm shop stop at Teebay services going south. Probably wouldn't book in again here but would find a site with easier access from motorway.  Hard standing pitches essential for us, so very grateful.

A sunny spot

Recently stayed at this lovely site over a sunny few days we noticed that some pitches don't get a lot of sun ours did so bear this in mind when pitching. Close to the river Eden and Eden Valley good for walking and cycles..

Peace at last

This is one of our favourite sites and a convenient stopover when venturing north. The lack of toilet facilities means the site is more calm and quiet than most others.

One of the best

Our second visit here on the way to Scotland. We really like this site which is in the lovely Cumbrian countryside. its a bit narrow getting there from the motorway but a site to re-charge the batteries for the onward journey. We went to Gretna Green and Carlisle Castle both nearby and worth a visit. Ok no facilities which puts some people off but that's fine by us.

So peaceful.

We stayed at Englethwaite Hall for 4 nights in Sept 2015.  We were very impressed with the views from our pitch: all the way to Scotland!  Lovely dog walks in the woods and a great pub in the next village.  The site was so peaceful, although about three quarters full.  We will definitely visit again as it's close to Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall and the Settle to Carlisle railway.

Stop over to Scotland

We arrived later than we were hoping - after 5pm - due to getting married on Saturday/Sunday. We called to check this Would be okay and were told it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived and found a map waiting for us and we were told to drop our membership card through and come back in the morning to pay. Warden came out to greet us but wasn't very friendly. The site is lovely. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely dog walk through the woods. Sat out until late at night - no complaints. In the morning we went to pay and we also asked if we could change a members name due to recently getting married. We were told not to bother as the season was nearly over.  Overall the site is lovely but wardens not very helpful or friendly.

Good for families if drivers stop speeding

We often stay here as it's close to family and we like the quiet location and the layout. It's one of our favourite sites and it's very dog friendly with easy walks on and off site. The only gripes we had were the usual ones which are very common on club sites. The first is the insistance of many site staff on cutting the grass at weekends. I know it has to be done sometime, but when you go away for a peaceful weekend it's really annoying plus the mowers the club uses are often incredibly noisy, there are much quieter machines available. Also, why does the club have a fetish for ensuring the grass doesn't grow more than an inch or two long? A much more serious problem was one that we now see more and more on club sites and that is speeding. We saw many instances of cars, solo and towing, and motorhomes clearly exceeding the 5mph limit; some must have easily been doing 15-20mph. Considering how small children could and often do run out from between caravans this sort of behaviour is dangerous. I myself experienced a caravan speeding towards me as I walked my dog, the driver, who was no youngster, was doing at least 15mph and clearly saw me and my dog, but rather than slow down he actually swerved past me and looked at me as if I was at fault for walking on the road!! Speeding on sites is more and more common and the club/wardens appear to be doing nothing about it. A simple solution would be to install electronic speed display boards, which enable everyone to see how fast someone is going (often when you complain to a warden about speeders they say they have no way of proving what speed someone was doing, even though, given that 5mph is a brisk walking pace, it is obvious when someone is speeding). Also speed bumps should be installed, any complaints that these damage caravans is nonsense as travelling over the rubber types at 5 mph does no damage at all, BUT IT DOES SLOW SPEEDERS DOWN. Rather than spend so much time cutting grass to within an inch of its lfe, the club should do more to stop people driving dangerously on their sites. I just hope that nobody is ever seriously injured or even killed by one of these idiots.
