This site is absolutely amazing, stunning location. must be the quietest site i have ever been to and the surrounding area is just fantastic. I never moved my car all weekend. The pitch sizes are brilliant, big level pitches. Some good history to Englethwaite hall as well. Lovely walk to Cotehill and the pub there, which again was brilliant, fab food and very friendly owners. I loved this site please don't go so i can revisit without a problem....
Scotland tour 2016
Chance stop on return journey from Scotland. Nice clean and organised site with no showers or toilets but beautiful surroundings. Not suitable for youngsters.
Beautiful site..
I stayed on this site on the way to Isle of Arran and so impressed I returned on my journey down. A slightly bumpy road to get to it but it was stated in the directions. A really peaceful, relaxing place, no traffic noise although the resident woodpecker was hard at work!! There is a lovely dogwalk on site and a new enclosure for exercising dogs has recently been added with plenty of dog waste bins provided. No Loos or showers or children play areas so probably not enough there for families.... saying that it had everything that ticked my list... a gem of a site.
Great site
Stayed for one night on the way back from Skye. Beautiful, peaceful site very clean and friendly. We wished we could stay longer
Wonderful
This was a last minute booking while en route back from Scotland and what a wonderful surprise. Wonderfully kept, quiet, lovely warden (ess) and stunning location. No toilets or shower but what the heck, we have our own.
Nice dog walk at the back of the site with the chance to see red squirrels.
We will be back.
Birdsong
What a gem of a site. No toilet block - but who cares. Apart from that it just looks like any other Club site. But the birdsong! WOW! We always put a bird feeder up when we are on site and we were well rewarded at Englethwaite Hall. 15 different species of birds attended the feeder including woodpeckers, nuthatches and a full array of tits and finches. We even had a red squirrel - you can't get better than that.
The site is easy to get to from the M6 but you MUST follow site directions as the route in from Armathwaite is not good. There were plenty of local hostelries serving good food. Places to visit including Carlisle & Penrith for shopping. This site is one of the most relaxing sites I have been on and will definitely visit again and again.

Short break
We have just returned from another (too) short break at this lovely site. One of our favourite places to stay, just a pity it is so far away from home ! Can't wait to return, hopefully before too long. Thanks to the Warden for pointing us in the direction of the local vet who is also highly recommended. She sorted out our dog Kelly who is now back to her normal happy self.
A Tranquil Oasis
A very pleasant site with wonderful views and walks through the woods. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff who could not do enough for you. A delight.
Stopping off point
We stayed for 3 nights on our way up to Scotland, the site is beautiful and very well cared for, it is a credit to the wardens who are very nice and helpfull.
It a shame there is no toilet or shower but it's not that important as we have onboard facilities even in our little Eriba.
We would imagine that in late April early May the Rhododendrons will be absolutely stunning.
We will definitely be going back!
Beautiful site
This site is just, lovely. Quiet and next to delightful forest walks. It is beautifully maintained and laid out. The wardens were friendly. Although no toilet block I am very much looking forward to staying here again!
