Wonderful again!

We struggled to book online due to website maintenance last weekend but finally managed as we fancied a very last minute few days away. Booked Saturday to arrive Monday but had missed the site warning advice about local roadworks and diversion routes. Received however, a lovely unexpected phone call from the wardens on Sunday advising us of the roadworks issue and then explaining exactly how to reach the site via the diversions. We have visited the site on 2 previous occasions so had no problems with either the diversion or access to the site but I do want to mention that the wardens phone call was above and beyond customer service and over the week we have spoken to other site users that said the same. If the roadworks, which I may add is not the Caravan and Motorhome Club's fault are worrying anybody on booking or cancelling then this is not necessary, the diversion is perfectly fine what ever size unit you are driving, just as in any rural area, you take it steady. If you are not capable of taking your foot off the accelerator or do not know how wide your vehicle is then you should give rural sites a miss entirely rather than complain to the Wardens who really are trying there best to warn everyone and put them at ease about the diversion and actually it does have no affect on journey time and the alternative - normal route is much the same as the diversion in our opinion anyway. Onto the site itself, fabulous wardens, friendly and extremely approachable. The site is immaculate and pitches are of a high standard. No washroom facilities means we use our MH facilities, that's what they are there for and that's why the site fee's remain nominal. It also states on all literature that there are no washroom facilities so read the small print and you won't be disappointed. There are pitches in open area's and under tree's, plenty of room in between and also water and waste disposal points at well positioned points around the site. Will visit again, no negatives from us at all with the site and again, huge thanks to the Wardens working tirelessly to assist people with the roadworks diversions in the area and also keep a beautiful site in tip top condition. See you again soon hopefully.

We're hooked.

first time back after 20 years and it didn't disappoint. Even the weather was great. Lovely Easter. Ideal walking from site, miles in the woods ideal for dogs. We first came on a trip o Scotland and it was a convenient 2 night stopover. Now we've moved to Western Lakes its perfect, just over an hour away. . Pitches are level but the site is not flat and boring every pitch has a different view. The Eastern Lakes gets the best weather being sheltered. (Shhh its a secret). This is not a stopover site it deserves visiting for much longer stays to explore the area. We're hooked

Another lovely stay

Another return visit and just as peaceful and good as ever. The wardens are excellent and the Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday was fun, even if slightly wet! So much to do around the site and our Cairn terrier Mack loves the dog paddock and many walks in the woods! If the owner of Bracken (Cairn Terrier) wants to get in touch then please do so!

Keep coming back!

This site is a peaceful haven with spacious, well maintained pitches and pleasant views. We have previously been on a seasonal pitch here but last year and this April we restricted ourselves to a week on a serviced pitch. If you want to see the more popular and busier parts of the Northern Lake District it is an easy drive but this area is a delight in itself. We get a bit of retail therapy at nearby Carlisle or up the M6 to the retail outlet at Gretna but otherwise enjoy relaxing locally. The Queens Arms at nearby Warwick on Eden is definitely worth a visit and the farm shop at Hayton has the best meat pies you will find anywhere to either eat in or take away. The local dog rescue centre also has a small café which allows dogs in too. This site is a popular choice for breaking the journey to or from Scotland but it is definitely worth having a longer stay.

Love this spot.

Did a couple of one night stopovers in March and April, en route to and returning from the North of Scotland. We really love this spot, it's so peaceful and just what we needed. Lack of toilet block isn't a problem for us. We'll be back for sure, maybe for a longer stay.

Enjoyed ou Stay

Arrived on opening day 2017, stayed 6 nights, pleasant site with excellent pitches and walks, the best part for us were the wardens. We have been members of the Club for 45 years and have come across all types, The wardens were friendly, good humored and the most helpful we have encountered. Receiving a late call from our son saying he thought we were at Troutbeck and consequently booked in there, we decided to join him. We informed the warden out of courtesy, that we were leaving a day early The Warden very kindly booked us in on line at at Troutbeck arranged a refund for our one night cancellation (although we had expected to forfeit this) and generally sorted everything out. excellent and outstanding service, a credit to the club, - if only they were all as amicable. The site does have a very large percentage of seasonal pitches (approaching 50%) but the remaining are all large and well maintained. No facilities by way of toilet blocks of course, but this is the type of site we enjoy.

Perfect site

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Englethwaite Hall, and nothing has changed. We have stayed on this site many times over the years, and it is still the same. It is a beautiful tranquil site with lovely walks from the site through the woods. The wardens are brilliant, very pleasant and helpful, with nothing too much trouble. We are now fully refreshed after our weeks stay. What more could you ask for? Perfect.

Great Non-Facility Site

This is the perfect site for those that like peace and quiet. Easily access from the M6 and close to Carlisle for all one's shopping requirements. The site is composed of a number of separate areas, some open and other surrounded by trees. TV reception was good and as well as a good dog walk, and free run paddock, on site there are good walks to be had through the adjacent woods. While we were there the very hard working wardens were kept busy clearing leaves from the roadways, grassed areas and pitches, keeping the site in great shape. We will certainly use the site again.
