My dog loved it

We stayed in the site the last weekend of October this year. The location is superb, and the surroundings are great. There is a fantastic walk in the woods around the site. The dogs' area in the site is a great idea, our Heidi enjoyed some good runs there, which made easier the walks thereafter (she was more relaxed...). The site is very quiet, there are no main roads or towns closer so the nights are impressive for start gazing (as long as it's not cloudy...). There are no toilet blocks, but the other facilities are excellent. There's an information office with plenty of leaflets of places around to visit.

Perfect for peace, quiet and walks

Stayed here for the first time over the firework weekend, a lovely site with hard standings. As we prefer there are no facilities as such, other than the essentials. The site has direct access to extensive woodland and was perfect for stretching the dogs and our legs!  With Hadrians wall, the historic city of Carlisle and if you fancy eloping Gretna Green within easy reach it's the ideal spot for exploring or tying the not! even the northern Lake District including Ullswater and Keswick are just over half an hour away. We would definitely stay again and would recommend it to those who enjoy the quieter side of life. This could be a good site for children who prefer quieter pursuits but outdoor play area is limited, hence 4stars.

Happy Caravanning

Beautiful site ,we were made very welcome. We knew in advance that there was not any facilities on site as we were told when booking. This was not a problem . We would stay again.

As expected

A pleasant quiet site. Facilities are good. Rather than spend money on a toilet block, this could be a first with all pitches fully serviced?? There is one particularly severe dip on the approach road which requires a much lower speed than 35mph - I forgot to mark it's location. I would return to this site.

First visit

We stayed a week at this site, overall we found it a quiet pleasant site. The reception opening times are limited opening times on the door, did not engage with any of the wardens as we didn't see much of them, the site is sloped so if pitching at the bottom of the site pitches can become waterlogged. A toilet shower block would be a welcome addition. Approach road is bumpy and entrance to the sight a bit tight but having said that we managed ok our outfit is 24ft.

Peaceful and relaxing

We had a very relaxing stopover at this site whilst travelling north. The lack of toilet block was not a problem for us but could understand how it would be for others especially with children. The gem of a find their was the fully secured paddock for exercising dogs safely off lead as our greyhound got the freedom to run. Lovely area to explore . Would use again in the future.

A perfect site

Spent two nights here and absolutely loved it.  Lovely, peaceful in fantastic surroundings.  Great walks from site.  Wardens very welcoming.  No toilet or shower facilities but didn't mind as everything else was perfect.

A real little gem so convenient just a few miles away from the M6

We stayed here for two nights recently so that we could break up a long an arduous journey and to see an old friend. The site was lovely nestled in idyllic rurality with a beautiful woodland interspersed with small lakes. The staff were friendly and helpful and I appreciated how lovely and quiet it was at this site. The staff were incredible when on our second night we had really masses of rain and we awoke to a mini flood in front of our van. The staff set to work and within half an hour the water had all gone, channelled elsewhere. Though there was no toilet/shower block the facilities were quite sufficient for us. I look forward to returning ...
