Worthy of a visit

We visited here with our motorhome for one night in May 2018 on our return home from the Western Isles of Scotland. The site is so peaceful and although surrounded by trees, we chose a pitch in the open area near to the office and had a lovely restful overnight stay. The dog walk and exercise area received a paws up from our pooch. It certainly met our expectations and we hope to visit it again in future to enjoy a longer stay.

Lovely site but beware of pitches under trees

Just got back from this lovely site but have spent all afternoon cleaning tree sap off the caravan and car. Beware of pitches under trees, but apart from that it is a lovely site. No shower block but we used our own facilities. Nice pub called a Fox and Pheasant in the next village. Very quiet site once the one nighters have settled in. The site seems to be a stopover for going and returning from Scotland but to enjoy the lovely site you need to stay a few days. Will go back but not in May and not under trees.

A spring holiday after a long winter!

When we arrived we were lucky enough to get a pitch with a view. So, we turned our caravan around so we could have the pleasure of looking at the hills and the lovely countryside and a couple of beautiful sunsets. It is so peaceful here. Our bird feeder attracted a wide variety of birds during our 6 night stay, including woodpeckers, nuthatches, chaffinches. We visit here often and always enjoy the the tranquility even when the site is full. A walk in Geltsdale is a must for that away from it all feeling.

A 1 night stopover en-route

Touring around Scotland for a couple of weeks we stayed here 1 night on our way home, we made an error when booking as were new too caravan touring we book site with facilities ,this doesn't have toilet/shower/laundry etc , but my mistake. The site is tranquil, clean, pristine and spacious site. The booking in was easy and we pitched and relaxed in the sunshine. It's a relaxing peaceful site.

Perfect

Just spent five days of peace and quiet at this wonderful site recharging my battery's, pitches were perfect, plenty of room, site absolutely clean and tidy, site managers wonderful, (even filled the dogs water bowl with fresh water every time we went past, which was 4/5 times a day) a truly lovely site to unwind, dog walks were brilliant both on or off the site, cant fault it at all.

Surprisingly Quiet and beautiful site

Only stayed here as we left booking our holiday too late and couldnt book at Coniston Coppice over the weekend. However we weren't dissapointed. The wardens are very friendly even though i managed to clip the corner of the grass verge getting to the pitch with the caravan and in the wardens words "dug his potato patch". The site is exceptionally well kept with all pitches of a good size and hardstanding. It has a mix of seasonals and short termers like us but this didn't seem to matter and there were still loads of places to choose. We managed to get a nice pitch tucked at the end of a short run with a good open aspect but still quiet and private. We can imagine once the site matures in the summer it would be stunning. Although theres nothing for the kids as such there is a great walk around the outside of the site and plenty of run room. The wardens were also great and put on an easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. We don't know the Carlisle area well but think there would be plenty to do for a short stay. Not far from the lakes, Carlisle castle and cathedral, Hadrians wall etc are only a short drive away. We definitely want to go back at some point again! only thing to note is stick to the recommended 35mph limit on the final road. its wide and straight but theres the odd bad unseen dip which is bad enough even in a car. Don't be put off just stick to the recommended limit!

Love it here

This is our stop over when we are going south. Love it, it's so peaceful. Would love to be there when the rhododendrons are in bloom. We'll be back, no question!

Best of Both Worlds

Just had a great break here. Its not just an overnight stop of the M6. We love it for the walks in the woods. Surrounding area has lots to offer Hadrians Wall attractions and the East Lake Distinct World Heritage sites not far away. Carlisle is a city with all that they offer only 10mins drive away. There's a pub (the Greyhound) within walking distance at Cotehill. Compact and level but with terracing to allow everyone a view. Its a real little gem. don't be put off by the access, take it steady and you'll be fine.

Seasonal Pitch

We have just returned home after our 2017 seasonal pitch at Englethwaite Hall. Apart from the weather we have enjoyed our stays. The wardens are so friendly and helpful, especially with keeping us updated with the current upheaval with the approach roads. The grounds are kept immaculately..........great changes since we were there around 2009- so much hard work has been applied. The wardens never stop working and maintaining this lovely site.........a lot of unseen work being done. The chance of fish and chips on a friday.........fabulous......order before 5pm and the warden goes to the local hotel to pick them up. Mainly very peaceful.......lovely walks and lots of nature at its best. Thank you again Fiona and Lewis.......the grounds are a credit to you. Sandy and Linda White
