In the grounds where Englethwaite Hall once stood is this beautiful site. Spotless and clean with hook-up, water and waste facility. The proprietors are friendly and helpful and will tell you all about the hall when it was still standing. There is nothing to dislike about this site but be aware there are no toilets! Will definately return in the summer to do the woodland walks.
Gem of a site
Stayed for three nights over the bonfire night weekend as the site is in woods with no view of fireworks to scare our dogs. Having said that, the site is brilliant if you like woodland walking. There are miles of tracks in the adjacent High Stand Wood. The nearest pub and shop are about 30 mins walk along forest and farm tracks (but opening hours are limited.) The site itself is well laid out amongst the trees with plenty of water points. The wardens were very friendly and helpful.
We really like these CAMC no facilities sites, get locations but quieter than regular sites.

busy busy
spent six days on this site, no further comment required as to other reviewers, apart from the constant stream of one nighters made it impossible to get any peace and quiet, probably more peaceful on the services on the m6.
Great site
Used this site on way up to Scotland, good site for stop over or even longer.
Good dog walks
Best toilet and shower in the whole of the caravan sites My own Caravan
All sites should be like this make them a lot cheaper

An absolutely stunning site.
My first time visiting this site. Fantastic site. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the facilities are first class. No toilet block, but that deals with the constant progression to and from that you see in other places. For a dog owner, this site ranks as one of the best. Outstanding dog field on site to let them run free, and direct access from the site to the neighbouring forest offers huge off lead dog walks. I loved it here and will definitely return.

chilled little stop over
We stayed here just for 1 night on our way up to Glencoe. Lovely quiet site and kept very neat and tidy.
Lovely site
Our second time here. Lovely site - very quiet. No playground so might not be so good for young children for more than a couple of days.
Good dog walk and large enclosed field so dog could play football without being distracted by a squirrel. Wardens really friendly. Definitely recommend.

Like visiting an old friend.....
We have just returned from our 4th visit to the wonderful site that is Englethwaite Hall. We can never find fault here and would go as far as saying, for us and what we want and need out of a break away, this ticks every box and remains a firm favourite. It was nice to see last years wardens are still here also and they remembered us also. They are the friendliest we have met on the network and nothing is too much trouble. Reception has restricted opening hours which are clearly advertised on the door. The small amount if groceries in offer is more than adequate for those forgotten basics or a treat. The only little snippet of negativity we have is that roadway near the entrance / exit is slippy underfoot. This is owing to the tree cover and obviously gets covered in tree sap and probably never gets entirely dry. We were in good solid walking boots and both noted the lack of grip. Not sure how it could be facilitated but a good pressure / jet wash to remove the grime and sap would be beneficial and make the potentially hazardous surface, less so or perhaps a good prune of the trees to enable natural daylight through to dry the road off. We do love this site, the many dogs walks, access to villages, towns and the county city is very easy as is the 10 mins drive off the M6.

Flying visit
Used this site for a stopover on the way to Bunree in Scotland. We had a small mishap and needed to get a front and rear pad for the Alko stabiliser, we contacted a few caravan spares places but either they didn't have it or were closing soon, however we came across The Larches, under caravan spares Cumbria, aka Google. Which was about 12 miles away, we arrived at the 'Larches caravan site', which had a board outside with 'Caravan spares' written in chalk! This we found to be a prefab type building absolutely crammed with spares, and this wonderful lady had exactly what we needed. Thank you Larches lady. Hope this info may help a fellow caravaner. Owe, the site.. beautifully kept. But beware of the damn fly's they'll eat you alive if you let them. Stopped over on route back to Wiltshire, the damn fly's we waiting.
