Sightseeing Tour

Just home from 9 nights at this site. This was our first visit. We were welcomed by a very friendly warden who gave us plenty of information on places to visit and bus timetables. The site is well kept and clean and tidy. The shower block, although spotless, could benefit from updating. We found the site to be ideally situated for visiting all the historic attractions that Edinburgh has to offer. Busses run every 10 minutes from close by into the city centre. There are plenty of dog walking opportunities direct from the site, a 10 minute stroll from site gates takes you to the promenade where you can walk to the lovely old village of Crammond, or in the other direction to Granton. The noise from aircraft has been mentioned by others, and whilst it is noticeable, we did not find that it spoilt our stay, in fact we became 'plane spotters'. We will definitely use this site again.

Friendly Staff

This was our third visit to this site. We were warmly welcomed by a very friendly and helpful lady who told us all we needed to know about the site and the area. During our stay we spoke to other members of the staff and all of them were very friendly and helpful. The site is very well looked after, all the pitches were clean and tidy with grass and hedges obviously well cared for. The toilet block was immaculate, it is obvious that the staff look after it well and keep it spotlessly clean. The site is a great place if you want to explore Edinburgh, it is a short walk to a bus stop with frequent buses into the city. It would be even better if there was a gate through the fence near the footpath to the bus stop. We would recommend this site as a great place for a holiday.

Nice Site

Just back from a 16 night stay at the site, we were there over Christmas & New Year. We have used the site before so knew how handy it was for walks along the promenade along the Firth of Forth, we walked along there a few times during our stay. On one review it was mentioned that the steps down the embankment were steep & slippy yes they are but there is a very sturdy hand rail to aid getting down, so we didn’t find the steps a problem. The site is very well maintained & the wardens are friendly & helpful, the facilities are looking a little tired but are nice & clean they would benefit from a refurbishment. On New Year’s Eve there were 4 power outages as the site was full so the on site electrics could not cope the demand, I think a bigger supply is needed. The site has green space to 3 sides & the road on the 4th side, I didn’t see it been the middle of an industrial estate yes there is one not to far away but not a problem with this. We didn’t find the air craft passing over an issue. We would use the site again.

Would return but !!!!

Stayed here for 3 nights taking advantage of the midweek offer price, We were given a warm welcome by very helpful and friendly staff. The site is undergoing work / maintenance which left some parts being closed off, didn't bother us.The only issues we found were noise from planes as on flight path from Edinburgh Airport, maybe not enough showers given its size, Dog walking area only open during certain times 9-5 i think it was? Certainly wouldn't feel safe going out of the site at night on my own. Location of site is on an industrial estate with litter strewn everywhere outside the site. Nice walk and views along the promenade sort of makes up for the small faults, Would return but certainly would not pay normal price far too expensive.

The Holy Grail!....Wheelchair accessible dog walking from site

Excellent site for beautiful dog walking on a hard tarmac surface but without the complication of vehicular traffic which makes it one of alarmingly few sites UK wide where dog walk can also accommodate wheelchairs. Really nasty wet and cold weather throughout stay but still enjoyed the walk (wrap up though!) Using site as a base for visiting family in Edinburgh so location near to the centre very good! Will definitely stay again probably in the summer(!?) And will use facilities for a couple of days over and above the visit to family just to enjoy the coastal walk with my Spaniel. Staff seemed genuinely interested in whether I had had an enjoyable visit as receptionist who had been on the phone when I was leaving quickly followed me out to check that I'd had a good visit.

Birthday trip

Had a lovely weekend at this site. Lovely and well kept grounds. Wardens were very helpful especially with bus time tables , it's very daunting not knowing where your going , but our warden was very helpful. There s a bus stop about 10 minute walk from the site which took us to all four destinations we wanted. We visited The Royal yatch which was great, The underground vaults and the zoo. All worth a visit. There is a lovely Italians called Tony Macaroni only about 1.5 miles away which was lovely. It was really cold when we were there so didnt go down to the beach , but looked really nice . Would definitely return to this site.

October family break

After recommendation from a friend we decided to give ECC site a visit while the kids were off school in October, we weren't disappointed. Warm friendly welcome on arrival and allowed to choose our own pitch, great start. Facilities are of a good standard and kept very clean, always having hot running water available regardless of the time of day or night. Site is exceptionally clean and wardens were regularly seen maintaining the area. Kids said the park was ok and it kept them busy for a while at times. Didn't appear to be huge by any means but if it keeps them quiet for a while it's done it's job I guess! Yes, there is some noise from planes but certainly nothing that kept us awake at night and nothing too obtrusive during the day. The site is well located for the riverside walk, even though there's some very steep and slippy stairs to be negotiated to get down to it, caution recommended. There's a Morrison's just along the road a bit (in a car) so no need to panic if you've forgotten the milk or bread etc. All in all everyone enjoyed our stay, there's loads to do in and around Edinburgh so you really shouldn't be stuck.

Excellent site with friendly wardens.

We have stayed on this site many times, usually two to three times per year and have always found the staff friendly and welcoming. The site is well maintained and toilet blocks kept clean and warm, which was great as our last stay was in October this year. The site is well situated for Edinburgh and the surrounding area, as documented by other reviewers. The aeroplane noise does not bother us as we live near an airport. The boy racers at weekends can disturb the peace, but no one has any control over them. Overall a great site, well worth visiting.

Agree with the 5 tick Reviews

Visited at the beginning of October for 3 nights. Great site for visiting Edinburgh. Site staff all very friendly and cheerful. Large site but does not feel like one. Pitches and grounds all very tidy and well maintained. Toilets water and waste facilities very clean and well maintained. Site peaceful yet with easy access to the city. We used the mini bus one day and the local bus service another, both are great. Will definitely visit again.

What noise

We have been touring Scotland, Edinburgh being our last stop on the return journey. We had been told many times during our trip about the plane noise so we reduced our stay to a couple of nights. When we arrived, an excellent site, friendly wardens and ideal for visiting the city by minibus of course (yes I do read the reviews) we wondered why people had tried to put us off, yes there were planes but not constant and only when landing on one particular runway. The second day we extended our stay to a week, I explained to the warden our reason and in her words, you can’t please everyone, but I wish customers would give us a fair try first. Thank you to all the wardens for a lovely stay.
