Cannot really add much to what others have said. A great location giving options of the City or the countryside. The west shore and Cramond are a short walk away and many well signed cycle paths and routes to choose. Recommend a 6 mile cycle to Queensferry and also a cycle across the Forth Road bridge.
The site is immaculately maintained and the pitches, facilities blocks etc are all great and very clean. Pitches are large and well kept. We made use of the bike lockers which meant we didn't feel the need to detach all our bits and bobs of accessories from them which was nice. Highly recommend.
This was our first time with CAMC. At first it was a bit daunting as were told we could choose our own pitch (numbers marked on a white stick) once we had our pitch to go back & let the booking in guy our number) so went round the 1way system about 4 times until we found the best pitch for our micro tourer GoPod. (not sure if this is the normal procedure but we’ll soon find out on our other adventures) All of the pitches were great, so it was a hard choice. Everything was spotless & all the staff were very pleasant. I liked the little fairy & elf gardens next the toilet blocks especially at night when they all lit up. The site had a great information room too & a lovely seating area outside the reception area. We had a lovely walk to the promenade on our first night, a great day out in Edinburgh on our 2nd day & a walk around the Royal Botanical Gardens on our 3rd day. All within a short drive from the site. All in all it was a perfect short break. I would highly recommend this site to anyone.
We could not have got a better site to start our city break trip. We had the peace, quiet and tranquility of being near a beach whilst only being a 20/30minute bus ride into a city. The site offers its own minibus service throughout the day to Edinburgh however also only a ten minute walk to the nearest public bus stop which has services to the early hours. The beach is about a 5/10minute walk also. We stayed towards the back of the site and had no issues with road noise. The only downside was how well they keep their grounds meaning we were woken by a lawnmower ! The site was extremely tidy and everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Perfect for exploring Edinburgh, we took the mini bus from the campsite which worked brilliantly (thanks to Graham).
Short walk to the beach and promenade.
Immaculately kept site.
Lovely site very clean just sorry we had to leave early as a close contact tested positive for covid glad to say all well and we are negative. Thanks to the Wardens for all their help and understanding especially Mark Thanks again we will be back in October to enjoy Edinburgh and do all we missed this time.
First time visit to the Club site and had a great stay. The minibus taxi to the centre and back was very good and picked up information and shown some buildings on the way. The seafront was good and you could walk and cycle both ways. Riverside walks very nice and a Toby carvery nearby. The wardens were helpful and friendly and kept the site immaculate. We will definitely be back.
Had an amazing week here. Site great for getting into Edinburgh. Good public transport connections.Good cycling along Forth straight from site. Edinburgh very dog friendly.
Wardens helpful friendly and very accommodating we will be back
The site is in a quiet spot, well equipped and well laid out, pitches are sheltered and have plenty of space. The friendly site staff work hard to keep everything clean and tidy. The showers are excellent. The position of the site is what really makes it. You are just minutes away from the beach and Crommond island yet you can cycle mostly off road into the centre of Edinburgh using the brilliant system of cycle/walkways based on old railway lines. It takes around 20 minutes. It is the perfect place for access to the Festivals. If you haven’t got a bike the site run a minibus service and the local bus service10 minutes walk away is frequent . And when you’ve had enough of the city there is a quiet beach or any number of other attractions close by…like the Royal Yacht for example. Great site, great location.
We used this site as the base for our our first 5 nights. It was convenient for meeting friends at Dunfermline, but also due to the handy shuttle bus (with the very friendly Graeme!!) was fabulous for meeting friends for Sunday lunch and some gin tasting in the town too. We had a serviced pitch (what a treat!!) as this was the only availability when we booked, and all pitches seemed to be a good size and well spaced out. There was some noise from the road but we were not near enough for this to bother us. Very friendly and helpful staff from talking through local Chinese takeaway recommendations to shuttle us service. All facilities immaculate as you would expect from a club site.
A beautiful site, spacious, lots of large plots with hedge screening. Normal level of cleanly facilities and beautifully kept lawns etc. Great minibus into town, only problem is doesn't run between 12:30 and 4:30 and finishes at 8pm, having said that its a wonderful way to get into the city. The buses also run from the top of Marine Drive into the City and they are very frequent and easy to use.
Unfortunately, the location of the site is NOT good, it is a very dodgy and seedy area, with homeless people all around and at night it is definiately not safe. It would have been better if the big metal gates to the site had been closed, but only the barriers were down which meant that anyone could wander in. There are free bike lockers, which tells you something, and codes to enter the toilet blocks, presumable to stop unauthorised visitors. The road outside is pitch black, not a street light for most of it and we were followed down the road by someone at about 10:30 at night, which was very scary. I would definately recommend a taxi back after dark and not the bus which stops at the top of the road. The site details mention taking a torch if going out after dark, but I suggest you need a guard dog!!! Perhaps the site could light their fence on the roadside, which would at least help a bit. Its a shame, because it really is a very nice site. I wouldn't return to this site, purely based on the neighbourhood, which is a huge shame. Perhaps CAMC can put pressure on the local council to help sort the issues.
