Super site and staff

Stayed here for 3 weekends for the rugby. Was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews but needn’t have worried. Site is in a great location - minutes from the seafront prom and cycle route to Leith, handy for getting in to the city centre by foot (an hour), bus or taxi. Yes, some may think the immediate area is less than salubrious and yes, there is aircraft noise. We felt safe on and around the site in the evenings and barely noticed the planes. Facilities are super clean and the showers are fab - constant hot water and none of that push button malarkey! Staff are very friendly and helpful and the site is well-maintained. Not sure you could ask for anything more from a site so close to a major city centre. We’ll definitely be back.

Great site, lovely staff

We stayed here on 3 consecutive weekends to watch rugby autumn internationals. The site is located within walking distance of a seafront promenade. But probably the biggest appeal is having all the attractions of Edinburgh City centre only a few miles away. Regular minibus leaves the campsite charging £4 per head for single journey or £6 return to city centre. Graeme the driver is certainly character worth meeting. Staff at the site were lovely giving a warm welcome during all 3 visits. The site itself is well layed out with well maintained clean facilities. Only minor things to bear in mind are some noise from planes approaching nearby airport and occasional sounds of off road motorcycles racing around nearby sports field during early evening but not a deal breaker. I would happily recommend this site and will definitely return.

Handy for city but poor facilities

As stated in previous reviews, the location is ideal for the city but not in winter months. Unlit road, pitch black with concerns for safety walking from bus stop about a quarter mile away , Difficult to see unlit entrance to the site . Staff are lovely, site well kept but facilities well past their use by date. Clean but very aged . The showers are awful and not what one would expect on a caravan and motorhome club site . We have been coming here for 12 years and there is an obvious lack of investment compared to other sites such as the facilities as stated and absence of full width drive over motherhood drains

Location is such a let down

Stayed for 4 days and the site is nice and clean with good pitches. I was surprised that there was no shop or supplies as the nearest shop is a car journey away down an unlit road. The location of the site really lets it down. It’s located half way down a dead end road which has no lighting, once the sun goes down it’s pitch black. Further down the road towards Edinburgh Beach is an old run down hotel which is now operating as a homeless shelter approx 1/4 mile from the site entrance. On our way out of the site entrance we noticed a group of homeless people across the road who then went into the bushes where they have made a camp to sleep under the trees. There is a really unsafe feel about the whole location and walking up and down the road must be done with caution. There is nothing stopping people walking into the site after hours which is really off putting for a relaxing break…always thinking about security. The only people that would be using the road at night would be the odd dog walker and the homeless. The site is also located under the landing/taking off path of Edinburgh airport so is very noisy, planes generally every 5 minutes and continue all day and night. If we had of known this we would never have booked! Overall very disappointed and a break away spoilt

Let down by the surroundings.

The Edinburgh Club Site is located twenty minutes walk from the shore and the Cramond Promenade and twenty minutes walk in the other direction to the bus services. So ideally placed - but the area is a little unkempt with rubbish and leaves all along the borders of the pavement and dumped in hedges. Not a good advert for the many tourists that visit the area. As with most club sites the pitches are well arranged and spacious, the facilities kept very clean and the site itself very well maintained. The site is situated on the Edinburgh flight path and planes are passing, quite low, every ten minutes. Admittedly you do get used to it after a couple of days.

Spotless site but too noisy for us

Location was good for access into the city with the daily minibus. I would recommend this instead of the public bus. Fairly short walk to the seafront area and when the tide is out there’s lots of space. Beach was very clean. Nice cafe and pleasant stroll to the village of Crammond. What we didn’t like was the constant aircraft noise from early morning until around midnight. The bike lockers and barriers etc are indicative of the location. The site is very dark at night definitely take a good torch.

First time but I shall be back.

This was my first time at this site. Only there for three nights. Had planned to walk into Edinburgh but the weather was against us. However the minibus service that runs from the site into the city and back was brilliant. I really like the site and will most definitely return.

Excellent Mid October 2021 stay

Mid October 2021 stay. Cracking site, smooth efficient check in and welcome. This site really is good for location, style of site, and interesting features. Close by is the magnificent Silverknowes beach area with views along the the Firth of Forth. The nearest local Supermarket is Morrisons and if you travel past this towards the British gas building and then turn right in front of it you will travel eastwards along the seashore through new trendy appartment accomodation, past delightful harbours and yacht clubs right into the heart of Leith and Ocen Drive (Royal Yacht Britannia). Travel westwards from the site towards the 3 Forth Bridges and you pass via South Queensferry and it's delights of scenery, eateries, and quaint shops. South from the site is Edinburgh itself and that is simply a must do during a stay at the site. Leave the car on site or walk half a mile to catch the frequent buses or miss the walking and use the mini bus service Graham provides which is much like a shared taxi service running every half hour and includes excellent commentary on the sights you pass. The style of site is more like individual little hedged areas hiding spacious pitches. No complaints from myself about any road noise from outside the site as its really is minimal. The aircraft do fly in down the Firth and you can see and hear them from the site but they are certainly not intrusive rather more and interesting feature if you have the flight tracker app and look up the exotic places they are coming in from. Failities on the site are excellent and the showers were lovely and hot , cleaned regularly to a high standard. Top trips out include the castle and Edinburgh City Tour by hop on hop off bus, any NTS like house of Binns, Gladstones Land , Historic Scotland Blackness Castle, Craigmillar Castle. Queensferry Forth Bridges and Leith worth a visit and of course the Royal Yacht. Superb time soon to be revisited when the christmas markets start. Well done team CAMC

Excellent location for visiting Edinburgh

This is the second time we've visited Edinburgh with first being during September last year. The staff are excellent and always on hand to help with any issues and the site is well maintained and clean. Why both with the buses when there's an excellent minibus service direct from the site into the heart of the city and all for £6 return!!! We used it and had wonderful day out. We are not mountain bikers but enjoy a nice cycle and the sea front was excellent with a level mostly tarmac prom from Cramond to Leith nearly - so nice easy biking. Defintely recommend to friends and look forward to the next visit
