First time on a CC site

After a difficult drive up the A1(M) in our brand new motorhome it was good to find the site easily and be given a friendly and helpful welcome. Facilities are very good, shower block clean and warm. Proximity of Park & Ride to City Centre was very helpful (although we couldn't find anywhere in Durham to eat where we could take our dog). We were impressed by the site and will be using it again on our trips North.

back to towing

Our first towing since 1997 with our new outfit we arrived at the site to be met by very friendly and helpful staff. You can hear the traffic from the A1 but that did not spoil our stay. we found our barrel unable to accommodate the new pump, along came helpful staff and loaned us one.   We really enjoyed our first tow and are planning our next trip already. Thank you Durham grange

Cold and quiet few days

A few days in January 2015, on a super-pitch. Site was understandably quiet. Quite icy - only the area around the toilet block was gritted, so getting there, especially across the road in front of it, was quite tricky. Thankfully the water standpipe didn't freeze. Closeness of the Park and Ride is very useful for getting into the city. There is some traffic noise from the adjacent roads, but not enough to disturb us.

regular user

Use this site on a regular basis because of its location. Very near Park & Ride for Durham. Good site only downside is the road noise coming from the adjacent A680 & A1 which the club can't do anything about and we have tried several different pitches.

First trip touring

Excellent location just off the A1 as the title says it was our first trip out and we had a wonderful time although it snowed on our second day which made it an even more wonderful setting. definitely going back later in the year to see more of Durham. Best regards Barry and Wendy.

Great New Year break.

Super location just off the A1. We used the location to visit the Durhan Heritage Coasr at Seaham, walked from the site along the river in Durham (took about an hour) and went to the Angel of the North. I thought the toilets could have been a bit cleaner, compared to other CC sites. Hairs in the plugs holes for the entire holiday, splash marks up doors and walls of toilet. The attention to detail could be better.

December visit

The site is easily accessed off the A1 and the A690, and this leads to the biggest downside of the site, the continual noise of traffic. Although it does die down during the night it is continuous from about 5:30 in the morning, and is the reason we would not use this site again. The park and Ride into Durham is about 1/2 ml from the site but walking is a bit dicey having to cross both the busy A690 and the A1 slip roads twice. There is a short dog walk on the site and the lane leading to the site can also be used. There is a Tesco, with petrol, and an Aldi at Dragonville less than 3 mls away. There are many places of interest that can easily be reached from here including Beamish and the Durham coast.

Handy for the motorway

Facilities are the high standard I've learnt to expect from Club sites. Close to the motorway and a good bus service, which means it's easy to find and to get about, but a wee bit noisy. I liked it because it's not too big and Durham is lovely. I don't have children but think I might have a concern about the proximity of quite busy dual carriageways if I had young ones. A great spot for exploring the area.
