Great site

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this site, it's lovely and clean, it's nice and peaceful, the staff are very helpful and friendly.  2 minutes off the A1, close to Durham city, will definitely be returning.

No problems for us.

We have used the site several times and are happy with it. It is a large flat site with very easy access from the motorway. There is some road noise from the motorway which did not bother us but it might some people. The site is flat well maintained and within easy reach of the city, but as others have said the park and ride although close is not safe for walking as it is the other side of the motorway roundabout but is a good alternative to trying to drive there. Good for touring the area and handy for Beamish which is just up the road. It is also a good overnight stop if you need to break a journey in that area.

Park and ride into Durham, Great !

Nice, clean, tidy site. Easy access directly off the A1, but the noise from the traffic is horrendous ! and it is constant, day and night . The park and ride into Durham is just on the over side of the roundabout but one must really drive to it as to try and walk would be very dangerous. If you can cope with the traffic noise its a great site with lots to do nearby. If you fancy going to the Beamish outdoor Museum allow two days if you want to see it all.

Handy for Chester le Street as well

This is the second time we have used this site. It is located just off the A1. It is the best site for access to Chester le Street and Durham's cricket ground and several spectators use Durham Grange as a convenient base for this. Noise from the A1 is a constant hum/buzz but after a short time it becomes less of an issue. Durham can be accessed on foot in about an hour via a pleasant river side walk in dry weather. When wet it can be tricky/slippy in places. There is a Park and Ride facility on the opposite side of the A1 which is a little risky on foot during peak traffic periods as there are no footpaths and no pedestrian crossings (10 minute walk). The Park and Ride gets you to the centre of Durham. The site is immaculate and the Wardens very helpful. There are no local shops but there is an Aldi and large Tesco about 10 minutes drive away.

Great for visiting the wonderful city of Durham

We visited this site from 13th to 19th June with the aim of attending a wedding at the end of the week but also visiting the Castle and Cathedral. Both of these are well worth a visit as is the Beamish Open Air Museum within easy reach of the site. Some of this visit was very nostalgic as I was born and brought up on the Durham coast. Things in Durham have changed a lot since I was last there but it is still a very pleasant City. When visiting the city we used a local bus service. There is a Park and Ride very close to the site but if you walk to it there are loads of busy roads to cross (including the roundabout over the motorway. We found it easier to cross the motorway roundabout and take a short footpath into the Village of Carrville to catch a bus which runs every 10 minutes.

Sunshine!

We arrive in brilliant sunshine and received a very efficient and warm welcome from the staff. Site is very clean and facilities excellent. Pitches cosy as it is an open site, no partitions between pitches. But that was fine. Lovely open space and great walk along the river. Would definitely be back again. Thank you.

Spotless Site

Having stayed for the weekend recently I was very impressed with the cleanliness and peacefulness of the site. There was a slight noise from the road but the relaxing surroundings more than made up for that at it was not noticeable after a little while. Wardens were great loaning me a mallet as I had left mine at home. Would definitely return very soon
