A return visit

Just an overnight stop booked via telephone to HQ because first choice of Whitley Bay was fully booked. Helpful young lady on phone made it easy. Site had plenty of space on arrival. Pity pizza man and chip van no longer call at site. Noise from A1(M) gets no less. Delighted that the modern loo block doesn't have piped local radio unlike some club sites, a great relief! Handy stopping off point for journeys North and south.

A Most Enjoyable Stay

We stayed here for a week in June and had both sunshine and torrential rain. Despite the latter, we found the site perfect. Perhaps we are better sleepers than some, but we didn't notice the traffic noise at all. The toilet block was well above standard and although the site was almost full, it wasn't busy. The wardens were most helpful when we needed a garage to repair our car, they found us an even more helpful garage who took us back and fore to the site and let us jump the repair queue. Well done Steve at Grange Motors. The Park and Ride is close and the best way to get to Durham and the nearby industrial estate provided our daily shopping needs. There is plenty to see around here in addition to the town of Durham. You can choose to go inland to the hills or to the beach at Seaham. I'm afraid many of the smaller towns have seen better days but are still worth a visit.

Site managements customer service skills

Pleasant site with good facilities. Its just a shame that our stay was tarnished by the lack of empathy shown by the site management when there was a misunderstanding with the usage of our pitch.

Durham staff

Well done for your hard work under the stress of a gas leak, can't be easy dealing with some members who think only about themselves and how it only affects them, you would think you had caused the leak yourselves.

A great site

We stayed here in June this year in order to visit our son at Durham University. This is a great site in so many ways. Easily accessible from the A1, it has everything you need. The wardens are fantastic here and with the park and ride accesssible on foot, you can explore the delights of Durham without turning a wheel. We will certainly return.

En route to Scotland

Durham Grange is just off the motorway so is used by many as a one night stopover. We use it as a stopover but for three nights to either visit Durham on the Park & Ride near the site, or the Beamish Open Air Museum. We love the Restaurant at the Beamish Museum & usually manage lunch and afternoon tea, there is just so much to do there and your entry ticket can be used over and over again for up to a year. There is road noise, but it tends to be more of a 'hum' so doesn't affect your sleep. As with all our club sites friendly wardens, clean loo block and smart well looked after site.

Still needs work

Well maintained site with friendly helpful staff well located for Durham with a park and ride just up the road. Also only about 8 miles from the Beamish living museum, would have given it a higher score but for two problems one a constant buzz from the A1 and a very disappointing wifi it says in the site description it's a silver site but could not get a speed of more than 0.9 Mbps in the 4 days we where there.

Lovely stay

We spent four nights at Durham grange. Couldn't fault the facilities or the wardens. Very handy for Durham and beamish. Easy to find straight off the A1. Yes there is traffic noise, but as it's constant, after a while you know longer notice it. My daughter really enjoyed the park. We definitely would visit again!

Stopover visit

This was just a stopover visit on a longer journey, and although next to the A1 and a highway depot we didn't find noise to be an issue. The facilities were clean and the site tidy. As we were there for just a short time we took the park and ride into Durham with a taxi back as the service had finished (We knew this in advance) The P&R is only a short distance but it does involve crossing some very busy roads. We would use this site again.
