Our favourite beach side site

Dunnet Bay site never disappoints, located in the far north of Scotland on the NC500 it is adjacent to a fantastic beach which is great for dog walkers surfers and families. Being next to the main NC500 route it is great for spotting exotic cars and motorbikes although the noise can sometimes be a little intrusive. All things aside though this is our favourite beach side site, the wardens are very friendly facilities are good and there is a great forest walk from the site.

Quite possibly the best site we have ever stayed on and almost certainly the best pitch we’ve ever had - front line view of spectacular Dunnets Bay!

Excellent on all counts with the added extra of 5 Star Plus helpful wardens who obviously enjoy where they are and what they are doing.

Unbelievably stunning

Stayed here 3 nights near the late May 2021 bank holiday weekend. The pictures and video on the club website really do describe this site very well but to be here in the stunning sunshine we are blessed with right now makes this site UNBELIVABLY STUNNING! A really warm welcome from the site wardens and what a bonus ..... something as rare as chickens teeth these days .... 6kg calor gas lite in stock (also true of the jet garage in Thurso) The site introduction at booking in was really informative, positive, and very helpful Spotless facilities handled by the club Covid approach of wrist bands. The drinking water, grey water, and CDP are never too far away and very well kept. Info booth and info boards tell of the area and very encouragingly the night sky, Aurora, and ISS points of interest - 10/10 to the site wardens for these thoughtful efforts Pitches are superb and I doubt anybody would be dissappointed with the views from them of a magnificient sweeping bay of light golden sand and turquoise sea water. Access to the bay is through gates and down just a few steps and you are there - it is that close and brilliant for dog walking and surfer watching. TV and Mobile phone reception is very good indeed The area is blessed with many tourist attractions such as Dunnet Head, John O'Groats, forest walks, Castle of Mey and Mary Anne's cottage, Loch Fishing to name just a few. Three nights is not long enough to do all the things that are available from this absolute gem of a site. Well Done site

Great stay, fab location

We arrived at this site in our Motorhome on the 19th May for three nights. We travelled with friends also in a Motorhome. We were greeted by a very friendly lady advised us of the pitches available. We were able to get pitches next to each other but without a clear view of the beach. The lady on reception advised us that the following day there were two pitches becoming available with a sea view side by side. Once the pitches were vacated & the grass cut we were able to relocate. Thank you to the wardens who take a pride in maintaining this site to a high standard and do their best to ensure that their guests have an enjoyable stay. We did & recommend that you visit this site which is located in a stunning area.

Breath-taking

Stayed here in September. The wardens need and deserve a shout out as they took delivery of a parcel for us which arrived before we did! The views are stunning, it was a great place to relax and unwind and forget your worries and look at the wonder of nature . The site was very clean and all precautions taken as required during the pandemic. We will be back

Great place to relax!

First time to this site, but won't be the last! Like many other like minded people, needed a break from the dreary news and lockdowns. This certainly made us forget the outside world for 1 week! Having 2 dogs, the beach and adjacent forest walks in the Dunnet Community Woodland were absolutely first class, we all benefited from fresh air and exercise. The weather also played it's part, some cold days but dry. It is well placed for Thurso John' O Groats and Wick as well as Duncansby Head. Facilities due the COVID were restricted but this did not impact our stay at all.

Views and beach stunning

Booked here for 3 nights but only stayed for 1 as the weather wasn’t great (as you might expect for this part of the world) ! Quite exposed when very windy so be prepared for that. Beautiful beach where you can walk for miles but little else nearby so again bear that in mind. Really glad we visited. The only down side here is the toilet/ shower facilities which are mentioned in other reviews. 2 toilets only despite it being quite a large site. Not really up to the same standard as other sites we have visited. That said, great for those who are able and happy to use on board facilities. Great hotel called the Northern Sands just up the road. Lovely food and well organised re Covid safety.
