Great stay

We stayed here last week for four nights and found it a great site, staff very friendly and helpful and the views, wonderful. We are walkers so being so close to the coastal path was a big bonus for us, great walks all around. The shop on site is great and the chap who runs it is very helpful and accommodating, he also supplies Wifi. Theres a lot of talk about the Toilet blocks, we used the large one on the lower part of the site, which was never really that busy, plenty of showers etc and very clean, so we found it fine. When you compare it to the next site we visited (Not Caravan Club) I think it puts things into perspective, they were terrible. So keep up the good work we will be back.

Disappointed!

Came here to relax after reading other on line reviews. Disappointed because of the 'rules' , which are pointed out at the very beginning of our stay here and Quite honestly , felt it a little too regimented for our liking! We are very considerate when it comes to others regarding our dogs. To be honest...a little OCD with that really. I'm am sure that others too would be the same.  Top toilet block was not satisfactory . Something similar to a Army service block.  Plus side..very generous pitches and well spaced out.  Just felt as if you had to keep an eye all round for some reason? Especially when with the little dog!

First visit - we will be back

We've just spent 8 nights at this truly wonderful site.  Perfect location for coastal walks and a very easy walk to the local village Morthoe which is well served with 3 pubs, tea shop, chippy and other shops including a small general store.  We had two days of complete mist but you can't choose the weather, other than that it was glorious sunshine with amazing views over to South Wales.  The on site shop was fantastic, great pasties, croissants and bread.  The lower toilet block is more modern, with ample amounts of space in the showers, toilets etc.  the top block is more dated and is being rebuilt and ready for use in March 2017.  We really loved this site, the area is beautiful we will return.

Lovely 2nd visit

Here in middle of June for 7 nights with daughter and 8month old granddaughter, as last visit excellent site with good access to nearby beaches and towns. A visit to Ilfracombe is a must. Great site lovely staff and attention to detail (weeding and raking the pitches when an outfit leaves) is amazing. Thanks Adrian for the excellent croissants.

Shame about the wind

A lovely location  with beautify views.  Pitches spaced out very nicely, facilities a bit dated but clean.  Unfortunately after 2 nights of strong winds and forecast storms we decided to leave early while we were still all intact.

Very large site

Nice site with beautiful views and in an ideal location for walking to many interesting sights. We were at the top of the site where almost all of the pitches are hard standings. The club book states 45 pitches but I estimate there must be well over a hundred so will obviously be very busy in peak season. Toilet block is perfectly functional but not to the normal standard of a CC site. Enjoyed our stay on the site and staff were very friendly but probably more suited to families so we probably wouldn't return to this one.

Superb views and great location

We stayed here in a campervan on a hard pitch at the top of the site. The pitches are large and are well-positioned for views of the sea and Welsh coast. It is exposed but what a view! The position of the site means that there are many good circular walks. Not only is the coastline beautiful, but wooded valleys lead down to the coast as well. At this time of year, the fields are fully of primroses and violets. It is about a 35 minute walk down to Lee Bay where a 400m walk takes you to the Grampus Inn (no meals on Sun evening). But beware the 500 foot walk back up to the campsite! There were lists of bus times at reception, so it looks feasible to walk and bus in the area. There's a lovely friendly, well-stocked (for its size) shop: fresh croissants in the morning. There is also wifi, during shop hours, in the shop courtyard (£1 daily fee goes to the local hospice). A friendly welcome and good, clean facilities. It's a good location for exploring Woolacombe, Barnstaple and Ilfracombe - we can't wait to return.

Isolated? We prefer peaceful/rural/tranquil.

This is one of our favourite sites. Stunning views over gorgeous countryside and coast, over to South Wales if weather is clear. Obviously exposed and open to the elements we would thoroughly recommend double pegging any awning and using storm straps - even if weather is calm when you arrive! Superb facilities - lovely showers and there are white plastic chairs available in the bottom block if you wish to take one in your shower cubicle. Shop is small and well stocked and all staff are helpful and friendly.  Regarding a previous negative review titled 'isolated' there is a bus service - last return from Woolacombe is 17.58 hours, which stops at Mortehoe at 18.06 hours. There are also buses to Ilfracombe and Barnstaple. Superb walks from the site and some great cycling but the hills are a challenge.  We would thoroughly recommend this site.
