Remarks

couldn't fault site helpful staff very clean facilities and site set out well for views over looking to sea. Only down side electricity could do with up graded to 16 amp especially early spring and late summer and many new caravan have up to date blown air heating. Would of minded paying that little bit extra for the extra amps.

Fantastic site

We have just returned from a weekend at Damage Barton and will certainly be booking again for longer. The toilets and showers were spotless and could not be faulted in any way. Although it is outside of the village catching a bus right outside the site and with a timetable from the excellent information area we were into Woolacombe within ten minutes. The family who run the shop are so very obliging we ordered croissants for breakfast went back 20 minutes later and they were fresh out of the oven and piping hot. A very well stocked shop at reasonable prices. We cannot wait to go back

Stunning views

Arrived beginning of September for 4 nights. Great well kept/maintained site. Shower/toilet s spot on and roomy. Stunning views and due to that will not go on about the exposed site. It's what you get when the vista is so lovely. Awnings need to be secured well but hey, we loved it. Would return again definately. Dog walk ok. Surrounding areas to visit stunning. Bus stop outside site. Mortehoe is a lovely village. We found tesco in infracombe very handy for stocking up. Hard working and friendly staff. On site shop good but pricey.

Fantastic site, cliff top location with fabulous views

We stayed for 3 nights in September. Weather was mixed and yes it does get windy on the site. But I think you would expect it to due to its cliff top location. The views of the channel and the Welsh coast are stunning. Facilities are probably the best we have come across anywhere. They even rake the hard standing pitch when someone leaves! Beautifully maintained site. Very well stocked camp site shop which does lovely breakfast pastries. Lots of walks from the site. Mortehoe village which is a 15-20 min walk has 3 pubs, fish and chip shop, grocery. We did the Tarka cycle trail from the site to Ilfracombe. It is much hillier than the route around Bideford so we struggled a bit but managed. I would definitely recommend this site and we will be back one day.

Good site but so windy

Visited the site early August and was allocated a pitch bordering the play field. On a clear day the view over the channel was stunning and it felt very spacious. The facilities were very good and the top block was so much better than I had expected from reviews I had read before going. They also seemed less used. The on site shop was brilliant, the best site shop we have encountered - and the pain au chocolate/raisin were fab. The pizza we had once and found it expensive. Close to Woolacombe, £7 parking and Braunton for a walk around. Cooke Island  pub/restaurant nearby was a good carvery. The site was windy even when everywhere else was calm. After a few nights of strong winds and steady winds during the day I found that the views didn't quite make up for it. Exposed site I know but when you are regularly woken in the night with the banging and clanking of yours and surrounding awnings it becomes a little less restful. The site is well worth a visit, glad we did.

Great Site, Lovely Location

This is an independently run site which is exclusive to CC and C&CC members. The facilities are of a high standard with an excellent motorhome service point (if only the Caravan Club owned sites could install similar facilities for motorhomes). The location is spectacular on the cliff tops and you can walk straight off the site onto the coastal paths, so great for walking. There are good dog walks as part of the site and it's only 20 minutes to the nearest pub in Mortehoe.

Could be better.

Stayed here August / September 2015, overall the site is very clean, the shop is well stocked and the location is great. To go into more detail, there are two shower blocks, one of which is due to be replaced (it needs it), the other whilst clean lacks "finishing touches", no seats in the showers, no bins etc. There are no bins placed around the site, all rubbish and recycling has to be taken to the recycling point at the top of the site, which is a pain. The shop is very nice, yes it's not Tesco prices but it's a small local business, and as such it is really nice. Having read many reviews on this site leading up to our visit I was of the opinion that those people complaining about the wind were just moaners, I apologise to those people now. The wind just never stops, it alternates between stiff breeze and gale force, even when it is still elsewhere it is windy at Damage Barton! However the location is superb, Mortehoe village is lovely with some nice pubs and the walks from site are great, just feel that it lacks the personal touch.

Beautiful location

Stunning, windy on times and that is when it gets hairy so make sure you use storm straps. The views and walks are beautiful, it is steep in places do make sure you check maps. Facilities are excellent, clean and as there are two tiolet blocks plenty of showers and toilets and plans for a new one up top to replace existing one.  Staff are friendly and so helpful, we had no fridge/freezer they pointed us in the right direction and it was sorted by the local caravan engineer. Yes there are rules but all sites have them but maybe that's why this is such a beautiful site. Lane to site in places narrow so approach with caution.

Could be better

Stayed here for one week in July 2015. Damage Barton cannot be faulted on cleanliness but onsite facilities were disappointing. The lack of bins was a pain, only one recycling area right at site entrance. Everyone would drive up to get rid of rubbish! They even removed the bins from the wash up area! Could definately do with bins at each water area, but perhaps that's why the site was so clean? There were no seagulls at all! Woolacombe can be walked but it's a good distance. Mortehoe was about a 20 minute walk through site. The showers were clean but at busy times struggled to cope with pressure. Pitches could do with some privacy hedging as people just walked anywhere, through your pitch and around your caravan. Shop staff were really nice and friendly. They did pizzas occasionally, never had one, but always a queue. All in all a nice out of the way site. Very breezy with its location, but nice views and sunsets. Would return to woolacombe but would probably stop elsewhere.
