2 weeks escape!

Spent 2 weeks here at the end of July and found this to be a lovely site. The wardens were very friendly and helpful, always sanitising communal areas to ensure they were safe in such difficult times. The site is so peaceful and calm (apart from the train horns) and even they weren’t that bad and actually made me and the hubby laugh when we heard them playing their various tunes. Plus they don’t run through the night. It is literally like being pitched in the forest, there is plenty of wildlife knocking about from rabbits and squirrels to deer walking past your van. An absolutely lovely place to escape to and relax. Would highly recommend this site and I would defo go back. All the facilities were clean and the band system on the toilets/showers worked well and it was a good way for others to know when there were already 2 people in. Hand sanitiser is available outside the toilets etc as well. Finally do not be put off by the toilets like I almost was, there is no smell at all and it’s only weird the first time haha! Enjoy!

Brilliant, friendly site

we had a lovely week here, 2 adults, q8 year old teen, 2 15 year old and a dog. The wardens are friendly and helpful and constantly patrolling, cleaning, waving and chatting. The site is clean and the toilets nothing to worry about, our pitch was big and lovely and sunny in the afternoon. The site is beautiful and deer roaming free (we saw a stag) there are some lovely walks as well. The local pub is lush, food is amazing and staff so lovely. We didnt use our car all week the station is so convenient! The rail noise didn't bother us we were the other side of the site and we live by a train line but I honestly think its not that bad, there are 2 trains an jour! The quarry starts work early and we were pitched next to it but again didn't bother us. Thanks for a lovely holiday, we will be back!

Old Codgers On Tour

After a long hot journey home, dont you just love the M25!!! I felt I had to sit down and take some time out to review this site. Not our first visit and certainly wont be our last, we spent 17 wonderful days in Dorset with friends. The location of Crossways is excellent to explore the Dorset coast, I cant comment on the facilities because we used our own. However, it didnt go unnoticed how frequently they were cleaned and sanitised. These arent easy times and the Wardens carried out their duties constantly, they were always cleaning and walking around the site checking on the guests, always smiling which cant be easy in this oppressive heat!!!! A massive THANK YOU to Graham, Dawn, Tom and Christine, we hope to see you next year.

What a gem - we'll be back

Had a wonderful 2 week stay and really enjoyed the site. Set amongst little glades it is so picturesque, yes there are some very shady pitches but there are also some sunny ones and some in the middle. It is quite difficult at the moment to pick a pitch if you turn up late or on busy days as the site is constantly fully booked, but that does make for a good atmosphere. Our nightly walk with our dog always resulted in stopping and having several conversations with fellow travellers about something or another, usually dog or deer related. The wardens and their assistants were so friendly and helpful on where to go and what to see they were a delight. They were always on the go the site was so well cared for, you felt guilty just relaxing and taking in the scenery. It was lovely to see the deer on a daily basis, so unfazed by us humans invading their territory, one in particular who I believe was hand reared will come right up close especially if you are pitched where she wants to eat the grass! We were lucky enough to choose a wonderful partly sunny (which suited us) pitch in a little glade of 3 pitches surrounded by trees. Can't comment on toilets or showers as we used our own facilities. The down side was there was something falling from the trees which in the night sounded like ball bearings and when we got home we realised that they had severely discoloured our caravan roof and my husband is taking hours trying to remove the staining. The site is situated in an old quarry and the ground is quite hard as there is very little top soil so we bent a lot of our plastic pegs before switching to metal ones. You can hear the train from almost all the pitches but they stop at 10.45pm so no disturbing you through the night and you soon get used to the noise. You can hear the adjacent quarry but it did not disturb us in the slightest. My only negative is there is no where you can walk your dog on grass as the dog walk is through woods and quite uneven in places, there is also no where you can let you dog off lead if it wants to run freely. The train station is almost next door and will take you to Weymouth, Dorchester, Bournemouth etc if you dont want to drive which is very convenient. The walled garden and tea room in Moredon is a must and if you have a dog they will love running through the ford - apparently the widest in the UK, crystal clear and shallow, our dog loved it. I also agreed with the previous review about the speed limit we frequently watched cars doing in excess of 15MPH let alone 5MPH. Drivers need reminding that pedestrians have right of way on sites.

My dogs ok he will not run off

Now that everyone is able to get out again will the dog owners PLEASE do as the rules asked KEEP your dogs on leads as soon as Campervans or caravans pull up doors are open and the dogs are running around and all the owners say is my dogs ok he won’t run of BUT they do the deer on this site now have baby deers and they will protect them and your dog will come of the worst then when all set up dogs still running around please think about other members who do abide by the rules. Also on another moan the speed limit is 5MPH anywhere on site, On a happier note thanks to the wardens-who have and are still doing a wounderfull job of keeping the site toilets showers spotless So please help them by keeping distancing and areas clean after use They are working 24/7 to as the site is full all the time thanks again for all you do

A collection of CLs!

Crossways is a lovely site which feels like it is made up of a collection of CLs through small enclaves within the site. Bigger fields are available for those who want more sunshine, so something for everyone. We were delighted to be joined at tea time by a friendly deer who appeared most evenings. The current Site managers Graham and Dawn are very friendly and extremely helpful, especially during the difficult times due to Co-Vid 19. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was reassuring to see Graham and Dawn walk around the site most evenings way after they should have "logged off". The composting WCs are no problem and environmentally good. Good cycling locally and the train station close to the site gives access to Weymouth, Poole, and Bournemouth.

Laid back

Spend 6 days in September at this site second staff in 4 weeks and I do take other reviews into account and yes the showers are in desperate need of upgrading. Right that is the only moan out of the way, this site is perfect for people who love peace and quiet and having breakfast with deers. The staff are amazing just gutted that they won't be here next year so thanks a million for the hard work you all put in. the facilities are extremely clean despite the amount of objects fallen off the trees at this time of year. Beautiful site with excellent pitches you have to get early to get some sun due to the trees but that is what makes this site so enjoyable. My wife can't walk far so walking around this site with 2 border collies and a golden retriever was very enjoyable. There is a pub just outside and a train station to take you anywhere, there is also a dog walk opposite the pub and and playing fields for the 4 legged friends to run around. We will d be returning next year as the van is cwtched up for the winter now.
