6 night break

We arrived late afternoon Martin (warden) took us to review some pitches as the site can be water logged on some area's this time of year but found one no problem. Yes as other's have said toilets a bit strange at first and showers a bit dated but we use our own. It's a lovely site in a great location pub, train, all next door! Train noise didn't bother us, a visit to the tank museum is a must 8 miles away and of course hardy country! Wardens were great shame they are moving we will return.

Stopover or Relax?

This site is mainly quiet with plenty of birdsong, it is ideal for short stays with railway station a short walk away or local bus service to Dorchester. The is a very well maintained and clean site. Sad to hear that the wardens Anne-Marie & Mel are moving on each time we were on site that were always most helpful and obliging we wish them every success on there new site location.

The most friendly wardens we have ever met

We arrived late and the wardens were so friendly and helpful. Guiding us to our pitch and staying until we hadhooked up. That said the sound of the train horn every 30 minutes until 10.30pm was not the most peaceful start to our break. Next morning woke up and looked out to be able to see the passengers on the train going past was a surprise and really think the proximatey of certain pitches should be mentioned in the details Ā A trip to the showers was eventful and would strongly suggest they need up dating. I would be be very concerned if my 3 year old granddaughter was using the compost loo's which we've never encountered before.Ā The personal touches around the site were lovely and made it unique, however as other reviews have said during the working week there is some noise from a factory which certainly competed with the trains for noise. Don't think we would return here which is a shame as the surrounding area was well worth visiting Ā

Charming woodland site, slight noise from quarry if parked close but not a great problem. Dry toilets in our view are great. Wardens were so friendly and helpful and there added extra little touches enhance the site. If it has any fault its the small showers and the lack of space or hook put all your stuff, apart from that very small grip it a wonderful site that we will visit again.

Great Site

We stayed here overnight last weekend & thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of nooks & crannies, so a feeling of privacy. Wardens very friendly & accommodating. The local pub which is a 5 minute walk away is excellent. On the down side, the eco- toilets are just weird, it's like sitting on a bucket with a 15 foot drop beneath you. Also the motorhome waste disposal is a little tight to manoeuvre into but that's being a bit picky. On the Sunday morning we had a visit from a very tame young deer which was quite a sight & was happily feeding from our hands. Overall an excellent relaxing stay.

The wardens were very friendly and accommodated us together which was great as it was a friends birthday and this made it special for everyone !

Very friendly wardens who accommodated us together which was nice as we were celebrating a friends birthday over the weekend. We have stayed at the sight before but the present wardens were particularly nice and friendly and as we all had Vw motor homes they showed a keen interest in our vans and made us feal at home. The sight was immaculate and we will definitely revisit.

A brilliant week

This was the first visit to this site and we were impressed. The staff were so helpful finding us a pitch and even helping push our little caravan across the grass. They gave advice and help on where to visit with our dog and we always were greeted with a smile and a sincere hello. we liked the pitching areas in groups. We get so fed up seeing caravans in rows. We are already planning another visit when the site reopens next year.

good kept site

Have been coming here for 4 years the site is quite the deer just rome around while you are just sitting by your caravan having a nice cup of tea no bother at all. The wardens work very hard keeping this site up to Caravan Club standards especially when it rains as with any site gets very wet and slippery they do there best to keep things running. Toilets and showers are fine for this site. Train Station just 5 min walk from site and lots to see around Dorset. Wardens have put all sorts of things made of wood around this site Wooden Train, Bug Hotel which is always fully booked up haha ect ect they have made it very pleasant to walk around well worth a visit.

September Week

Wet Start could fully understand the care the wardens show for the Site like protecting the grass. The railway station on the door step fantastic left the car parked nearly all week. The pub next door very poor, advise find somewhere else to eat. Great base to explore Dorset. Helpful Wardens super SiteĀ

Peace, Quiet and Wildlife!

Stayed for two nights getting used to our new Campervan. As we drove around the site selecting our pitch, we were amazed at how tame the Deer are. Once set up and settled a young Deer actually came up to within a couple of feet of us and almost rubbed noses with our very well behaved Jack Russell. The site is very natural and extremely quiet and peaceful. We didn't hear any road noise as mentioned elsewhere and the trains weren't much of a disturbance either. No unpleasant aromas from the dry composting loos either. The site is every bit as clean and well maintained as other CC Sites we've visited so far. And as always, The Wardens are very friendly and hardworking.
