Great for a short break

We have just returned from a few nights away at this lovely site. I won't go on about the toilets, please see other review, its clearly stated when booking, if you can't cope with that i suggest you stay elsewhere! We had no problem with this at all. Very friendly site, lovely little bays amongst the trees, only trouble we had was deciding where to pitch! Speacious pitches, great for kids and despite the weather we had a lovely break.

Beware

Note this site has dry composting toilets ECO wise good idea but not for the squeamish so dont look down into the toilet. The site itself is very pleasant beautiful woodlands, plants, wildlife also plenty grass pitches plus hardstanding. That said i was not happy with the toilet amenities, being that the toilet, washrooms, showers and where applicable wash up areas should all be under one roof so to speak not spread out at different locations. In general you cannot shower and use toilet etc in same block. I also notices that in the mens toilets in the HINDS site the jointing between tiles is dirty and should have been cleaned out before season, otherwise elsewhere was clean but as i said don't look down into the toilet its not for the faint hearted. A word warning there is a very dangerous bend so slow down as warning of vehicles in middle road

A very attractive site

What we liked most about this site were the small bays amongst the trees in which to pitch our campervan. It gave privacy in great surroundings. We received a good welcome and the facilities were good. The composting toilets are excellent, clean and with no smell at all. Would have liked a small shop for essentials. The nearby pub (5 mins walk) is friendly and serves good beer and meals with a discount for Club members mid-week.

Great site to visit

We stayed here for 2 weeks up until just after Easter. The site is a little gem! We have been many times in the past (even before 'the toliets'!) but haven't been for a few years. The layout of the site is most imaginative and it is nice being 'close to nature' and the wildlife. Crossways is well placed for visiting most of what Dorset has to offer and the site is close to a good pub. The railway is so convenient if you want to leave the car/motorhome on site and you soon get used to the trains passing by. Although the quarrying next door has caused complaints in the past reading some other reviews, it was not at all intrusive whilst we were there. The wardens were (as always) a credit to The Club. Overall a great place to visit.

Crossways

We stayed here at crossways over Easter the weather was wonderful and the site one of the best we've stayed at although the site was quite full it was quiet and peaceful even with the train that passed every hour, but really dident notice after a day or so. The showers and toilets are in separate blocks but that wasn't an issue and although we were a little bemused with the composting toilets they were fine . The wild life are all around you on the site so cameras a must !! There is a pub just out side the site gate, the food was lovely but they do get busy so book a table . Train station opposite pub running to Weymouth, Poole Dorchester etc great for us as we don't take out the motor home so rely on public transport in all well worth a visit will defiantly be retuning

Wonderful place

A really lovely site with lots of space. Wardens helpful and welcoming. Loads of character to site very different to some sites but in a good way. Great location for hopping on the train for fuss free days out to various destinations. Great nature and we saw deer very close up. Had a great time and will return.

Crossways

Nice site quiet, if you don't mind trains but we were right by the level crossing. Handy for the station and the pub. Pub was fine depending on what bar staff were on. Showers were a little underpowered, loos no problem. Wardens friendly as we're the squirrels. Site well placed for local attractions.
