We stayed here for a week mid August and found it a very friendly site. The wardens are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The site is laid out well and the pitches are all quite big. The toilets are an experience ?? but would have been better with toilet and shower facilities together. Mainly all grass pitches which were fab until it rained and rained and rained a bit more?? but we did enjoy our stay here and would go back again xx
Holiday with a difference
First visits to this site. A warm welcome was what greeted us on our arrival. Toilets are different, but when you've got use to it no different. No smell as some reported on here in previous posts. Ablutions areas are kept clean and tidy. Ladies shower area could do with a shelf giving an area to place bags whilst using hair dryer. Site is a good layout with pitching areas in culdesac settings.
Quiet at night.
No play area however, children use their imagination and have games in the woods.
If your lucky you well see deer around the site and get the chance to hand feed them.
Good location for walking. Nice walk from the site details available from the office.
All in all an enjoyable stay in a nice setting and would return again.
Lovely, friendly site.
This was our first caravan holiday and we were very pleased with the site. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and the pitch was great. You can hear trains passing and the nearby quarry but this didn't bother us one bit. We all slept well and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely stay here again.
Relaxing site
This was our second visit and hope to return for more. The secluded feel to the pitches is wonderful. Having a railway station just 7 minutes walk from our pitch ment days out without having to drive (very handy for two real ale/ cider drinkers- both Dorchester and Weymouth were great for us). Although there was some noise from the quarry it soon faded into the background as we relaxed, admiring the scenery and wildlife.
No Complaints
There is a very relaxed feeling at this site. All of the staff were very smiley and approachable. There was a high level of tolerance with the children having a great time on their bikes and scooters and some very brave bikers tackling the hilly terrain in the wooded areas. All of the maintenance tasks were done in a timely fashion and the toilets were a pleasant surprise to us both. No problem at all. Nice to have the continuous hot showers and they were always available and clean. We would go back again as we were there for 10 days but there was so much to do around and about that we barely scratched the surface. The only thing that I would be more careful about next time is that I would try harder to pitch with regard to evening sunshine. As there are lots of little shady groves there is a lot of tree shade. We had sun in the morning but you need to be in the larger glades to be in a sunnier position. That is user error and is only a reminder to myself to think of those BBQ with wine/beer in hand whilst basking in the late sunshine when choosing the pitch. We were in fairness given a map with the available pitches highlighted so the staff could not have been more helpful, they will tell you which bays are shady and I am sure if I had asked they could have told me the best place for the evening sun that I now feel was the only thing that I felt was missing. On the flip side it is really nice to be in a little glade with just 2 other sets of campers and the service areas seem well spaced out,

overnight stay
Booked an overnight stay. Site looked lovely in the handbook and online. However, we were placed in an area that overlooked the storage compound and although our booking included an awning there was no way you could erect this without limiting the access to other users.
Great Stay
This was our first caravan trip and as first timers the people near our pitch were very friendly and helpful. Site was good location for getting to most places we wanted to visit. The lady who booked us in was very helpful. A slight criticism, as first timers when we arrived we saw a site with a narrow entrance immediately on the right by the entrance which said caravan club - I didn't realise it was some sort of reserved location and because there was no other signage tried to get through the entrance! Not good for a first time tower! A sign point to the booking area would be good.

staying at Crossways
We stayed at Crossways again. This is a great place for children because they can wonder around the forest in safety. Wardens are very friendly and the pitches are of a very generous size the toilets are not a problem. Definitely recommend i would like to see the site staying open to the beginning of November as in my opinion is that it shuts to early in the season.

Great location and base for exploring Weymouth/Dorchester
Peaceful, naturally landscaped site with lots of wildlife. Moreton station next to local pub is 5 minutes walk away which is great for Dorchester South (10 mins by train) station located next to the newly developed Brewery quarter for chain restaurants/bars or Weymouth (15 mins by train). 1 train an hour, noise was not an issue, nice quiet modern electric trains, single horn beep on approach to level crossing. Our pitch was in sight of the quarry through the trees and there was no noise during our 4 night mid week stay. Compost loos are fine, different but ok - private washroom cubicles are alongside them in the same block. Showers a little dated but usual cleanliness. Showers are in a completely separate block and have no loos or washroom cubicles, so a little less convenient than the usual set up all combined in one as you need to walk across site between them. Recommend nearby Monkeyworld for families as a full day out, along with the fabulous coastline.
Another good site
Second visit to this site in 3 years, although in a wooded area it is not overpowering and the distance between vans is awesome.Noise from the quarry during the day but stops around tea time and you soon get used to the train horns. All in all ideal site for visiting Dorset. Will go back in the future
