overnight stay

Booked an overnight stay. Site looked lovely in the handbook and online. However, we were placed in an area that overlooked the storage compound and although our booking included an awning there was no way you could erect this without limiting the access to other users.

Great Stay

This was our first caravan trip and as first timers the people near our pitch were very friendly and helpful. Site was good location for getting to most places we wanted to visit. The lady who booked us in was very helpful. A slight criticism, as first timers when we arrived we saw a site with a narrow entrance immediately on the right by the entrance which said caravan club - I didn't realise it was some sort of reserved location and because there was no other signage tried to get through the entrance! Not good for a first time tower! A sign point to the booking area would be good.

staying at Crossways

We stayed at Crossways again. This is a great place for children because they can wonder around the forest in safety. Wardens are very friendly and the pitches are of a very generous size the toilets are not a problem. Definitely recommend i would like to see the site staying open to the beginning of November as in my opinion is that it shuts to early in the season.

Great location and base for exploring Weymouth/Dorchester

Peaceful, naturally landscaped site with lots of wildlife.  Moreton station next to local pub is 5 minutes walk away which is great for Dorchester South (10 mins by train) station located next to the newly developed Brewery quarter for chain restaurants/bars or Weymouth (15 mins by train).  1 train an hour, noise was not an issue, nice quiet modern electric trains, single horn beep on approach to level crossing.  Our pitch was in sight of the quarry through the trees and there was no noise during our 4 night mid week stay.  Compost loos are fine, different but ok - private washroom cubicles are alongside them in the same block.  Showers a little dated but usual cleanliness.  Showers are in a completely separate block and have no loos or washroom cubicles, so a little less convenient than the usual set up all combined in one as you need to walk across site between them.  Recommend nearby Monkeyworld for families as a full day out, along with the fabulous coastline.

Another good site

Second visit to this site in 3 years, although in a wooded area it is not overpowering and the distance between vans is awesome.Noise from the quarry during the day but stops around tea time and you soon get used to the train horns. All in all ideal site for visiting Dorset. Will go back in the future

Beautiful Environmental Friendly Site

This is a lovely natural woodland site which has all the facilities without spoiling the natural beauty of the landscape.  The wardens are very friendly and helpful and we found the showers to be very clean and adequate.  The toilets are in a separate block as they are dry composting- we found them to be very good, there was no smell and were very clean and very environmental friendly as was the whole site.  There is also a lot of wildlife such as deer to be seen.  Would definitely visit again.

Lovely wooded site

Crossways is our 'local' site and we often visit. We enjoy the wooded site and there is plenty of wildlife present. The facilities are ok. We are not too fussed as we prefer to use our own on board washroom. The site location is excellent and not far from Weymouth and Swanage. We prefer visiting in the quieter months as during July and August the site can be very popular with families with young children. The wardens are friendly and helpful and the site is quite well maintained.

A pretty wooded site

A nice site set in woodland.  Wardens very friendly and helpful.  The two ladies' shower blocks very dated.  I appreciate that the site is in woodland but the showers needed a good clean.  Very old cobwebs and dead moths in corners on ceilings and behind doors.  Just felt that they were a little "iffy".

Home from Home

My wife and I stayed at this site some 6/8 years ago and found it fairly basic but had good site facilities. On arrival this year we were very pleasantly surprised on how well developed the site had become with neat grass or hard standing pitches located in wooded areas or larger open spaces to choose from. Facilities has increased with the only downside being what is probably the original shower block opposite the reception which was suffering from lack of water pressure for the 4 night stay that we were on site. Otherwise thumbs-up as other campers we spoke with all agreed the site was generally excellent and would return again.

Excellent site

Crossways was the first site we visited after buying a small caravan. It proved to be a very good choice. the site layout offers several areas some with room for a single caravan so it can have a secluded feel if that is what you like. Being built in an old quarry it has interesting topography which children seem to enjoy alot. The staff couldn't be more helpful which is a big bonus if like us you are not very experienced. There is so much to see and do in the area there should be something for everyone. Some people complain that the showers and toilets are in different blocks but that is really a small quibble.
