Good site....out of season that is.

As can be said of anywhere in the Lakes sublimely peaceful out of season and Park Coppice is no different. Could think of nowhere worse in the height of the school holidays for instance. Trees in autumn are stunning which allows beautifully filtered sunlight through. This whole site suffers from lack of sun at other times of the season. Toilets very clean and tidy. Pitching is far from level on just about every pitch up the hill towards the access road.  Don't forget your blocks. All in all a nice site . Been bringing our caravan over to Coniston for over 20years and the road from Ambleside is infinitely preferable to the route to the site from Greenodd - Torver to the south. The pinch points are much easier sighted from the north.

A quick weekend break, great location

We only stayed for a long weekend at the end of November. But found the site extremely well furbished, clean with a friendly atmosphere and staff. Due to heading off to the fells first thing and not returning until the dark we did not get the chance to explore the full site. One issue was that during the booking stage no mention was made to the fact that a large part of the site was blocked off due to work being carried out. This only became apparent after confirming the booking. Fortunately due to our activities it did not affect our stay. Ideal location with Coniston and adjacent fells being very accessible.

Lovely site

Stopped here for the first time recently and it won't be the last. Weather was mixed but had a couple of nice days, but very cold. Didn't put us off though.  Had some great walks. The site is lovely even though it was November. Good walks nearby and a lovely walk by the lake next to the site. Great access. The facilities on site are well kept and very clean. Wardens helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back. One of our favourites.

Our Favourite

Park Coppice was always our favourite destination when we were caravanners with a young family and as crinkly motorhomers nothing has changed! Helpful and friendly staff, beautiful surroundings -especially with the autumn colours- great walking and nice pubs on hand. What is there not to like. We will be back!

A very cold but enjoyable visit

We were greeted on our arrival. We were given some suggestions as to what pitches we might like. We then looked and chose a lovely pitch. The toilet block is good and well maintained. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We woke up to find the ground covered with snow but the camp site road cleared. Will be back soon.

Autumn delight

A very nice site if you have kids as it is huge and set on a hillside in the woods, follow the road to the bottom where you will find a path directly to Coniston water. Most of the roads are on a slope and so are many of the pitches and being I think this is regularly a very popular site finding a flat pitch could be a challenge. So the site is good but not the approach road to it, we came from Ambleside and as many have already posted it is a narrow twisty road, ours is a 6.75M van but it would certainly be an interesting trip with a caravan, approaching from the south is not a great deal better but the scenery is more stunning, don't let this put you off just expect a slow progress to the site. As most will visit Ambleside I would advise motorhome users to park in the rugby grounds just outside Ambleside where the A593 meets the A5095, it has a voluntary parking fee and just a 5 minute walk into town.

Four nights in Nov 2016

This is quite a large site, well laid out in an irregular/informal sort of way, and mainly under trees. As usual with a club site the facilities are excellent and there are 2 play areas for children. There is good access to the Lake from the site and there is a nice level walk to Coniston on good paths. Plenty of wildlife on the site. We saw a woodpecker and heard numerous owls each evening. Would definitely recommend approaching the site from the South as can't imagine the roads from Ambleside or Hawkshead being much fun with a caravan!

Woodland Wonders

We spent 4 wonderful nights at this fantastic site. After years of backpacking, then car camping and recently caravanning it was a real bonus to find a site that isn't manicured and straight. Trees, acorns, leaves falling, untamed paths to the water, complimented by clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and a perfect location for all that the Lakes has to offer. The only experience that spoilt this great 4 nights was the male customer (s) who used the toilets and left the back of the bowl in a right mess. Felt so sorry for the site staff having to deal with that. There are some dirty meffs and some go camping. But, we'll be back to Coniston Park Coppice......A+
