A very peaceful site and because of the location you don't feel as if you are on a large site.

Great location on the side of Coniston Water. A very peaceful site and because of the location you don't feel as if you are on a large site. We had a very enjoyable time here during the first full weekend of the summer holidays. Great for walking, pubs and village accessable.

Big site with great facilities. Great for families but go to a smaller site or a CL if you want piece & quite (as you won’t get it here)!!!

Extremely good location, excellent facilities which are well maintained and very clean. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I didn’t experience the problem of barking dogs that some other people have reported. There were a number of dogs on site but the owners seemed to have them under control. Plenty of dog waste bins dotted around the site. Good site if you want to take a dog with you. I messed up by going to this large, family orientated site during the school holidays (so my fault really) but I do wish that parents would keep their children under control. It was extremely noisy, with constant screaming from kids who were totally out of control. Bearing in mind the 5 mph site speed limit around the one way system, children were literally racing on bikes and scooters, going the WRONG WAY round the one way system at speeds of up to 15-20mph. I witnessed 2 accidents in the 2 days that I was there:- A kid on a scooter collided with an elderly lady who was trying to pull a aqua roll full of water back to her pitch. Another kid on a bike tried to take the corner way too fast (again going the wrong way round the one way system) and narrowly missed the motorhome service point as they crashed onto the grass by the toilet block. There were also several near misses:- As I was driving to my pitch I had children riding bikes dangerously close to the caravan, holding onto the caravan to get a tow around the camp site (“Back To The Future” style) and trying to overtake in my blind spot. I had children riding behind the caravan as I was trying to reverse it onto the pitch. There were a couple of occasions where children ran out in front of the car while driving around the site. I wasn’t the only one. I witnessed several other drivers come close to having head on collisions with kids on bikes & scooters. It felt like the site rules were not being enforced. To be fair it is really down to the parents (as opposed to the camp site) to keep their kids under control. It was a bit like the Wild West of camp sites. Like I said, I should really have avoided the school holidays or gone to a smaller CL. Lesson learned for next time. That still doesn’t mitigate the safety concerns of this apparent lack of control and/or enforcement of the rules. I know you are on holiday but you do travel with children, please keep them under control!!!

Outstanding Site - What else can we say.

You get what you pay for. This a club owned site and is welcoming from the start. Swift check-in and barrier access cards system. Great and plentiful showers, toilets and service points. Bins emptied regularly and area patrolled by staff on buggies. A few minutes walk though the wooded site to Coniston Water. Safe walking routes to Coniston itself, and other neighbouring features. All great walks. This is probably one of the best sites we have been on. It does cost a bit more than a CL site, but we think worth it for such an excellent location. If there was another star I would give it that as well. Thank you Coniston Park staff - We will return!!

First visit and I loved it

This was our first visit to this site and won’t be our last. We loved the little glades with 4 or 5 pitches in which made the site feel smaller and more cosy. The walk into Coniston was about 1 3/4 miles if you went through the fields and the site next door but slightly less if you went on the old railway line on the other side of the road behind the Ship pub - which is a lovely friendly little pub serving very decent food all afternoon. The bus stop at the site entrance is for the bus to Torver. Buses to Ambleside, Windermere etc go from Coniston itself. Fish and chips are available on site three nights a week and pizza another night.

Great Site

Just got back from our week away at this site and it has been really lovely. The wardens are the best we have ever come across with the CC&M, they were so helpful and friendly. The facilities were kept immaculate no matter what time of day you used them.

Lovely site

Just stayed here for the week. Site nice - with several routes to walk into Coniston either through the adjoining Nat Trust farm camp site or the higher route along an old railway line - be careful crossing the road. Both routes take around 30 mins strolling. Several reviews have mentioned about dogs barking - this seems to be an issue but it's down to how good the owners are at disciplining their dog / dogs. A gent had two beautiful dogs opposite us - not allowed in caravan, kept in a cage in his 4x4 overnight & then tethered to caravan during day sat on a rug. Very well behaved & a credit to the owner who they adored when he took them for walks. Back to site review- roads are narrow to site - all roads in this area are narrow so proceed with caution as a land rover going the opposite direction in a hurry tried to smash my drivers mirror off. Busses from Coniston to Windermere & Ambleside buy a day rover ticket. Try the Bluebird cafe by lake for light bites cakes etc. Several pubs in Coniston but menus are similar. Also small CoOp & other small shops for basic necessities. Also small shop on site & chip / pizza van certain days. All in all a nice break.

Could be perfect but continuous barking dogs spoil it!

We have just returned from staying on this site and in principle it is a lovely site, the setting is ideal, if you get the right pitch, some were shaded most of the time. We got a perfect pitch, mostly sunny but some shade for the very hot weather we had. The facilities are excellent. HOWEVER, there are dogs barking the the majority of the time, and not just yappy little dogs but very big dogs. The amount of people we saw with not just one dog but 3 or 4. We even saw regularly a couple with 5 dogs! The owners never seem to stop them barking! It is such a shame because this is undoubtable one of the nicest sites we have ever stay on, with this heat we kept thinking we were in France!! If you own a dog please be considerate to others who just want peace and quiet. We would love to come back to this site, but we really don't think our nerves could stand it!!

Another excellent stay

This is our 3rd stay at Coniston and it was as excellent as always, although this time we got great weather to. Found a great pitch, enough shelter from the sun if you want it, but plenty of sun during the day. Friendly and helpful wardens, spotless facilities. Will be visiting again.

Dogs

This site is superb and undoubtably the best one we've visited. However, our trip was only spoilt by the noise made by the rather large proportion of dogs. It seemed that at approximately every 15 minute interval throughout the day, a dog would be barking somewhere and after a couple of days this became rather annoying. Now I do appreciate that members have dogs and have every right to take them on site, but my point is directed at those members who may want a bit of peace and tranquility. Be warned!

Speeding

We were very upset at the speed some members were travelling , even when towing caravans. I spoke to the warden who said he had given two warnings the day before. I appreciate the staff have to see this to take action which is not always possible but maybe the Club itself should take a closer look at this site. We were on pitch 165 and that stretch and the road behind was where we saw most vehicles over 5mph.
