Lovely one night stay last Saturday

We live only 12 miles from this site and it's reasonably priced in Winter, the narrow roads will trouble some people but we are used to them. There are a lot trees on this site so that is another reason we prefer winter time. Great location inbetween Torver and Coniston and a drive, cycle or walk over a big hill takes you to Hawkshead village which is a pretty little place.

December Visit

Stayed here for just one night but originally booked for 3 due to a family illness. Due to it being winter half of the site was closed plus torrential rain did not help us. The site is away from the village centre and the roads leading to the site can be narrow with a lot of tight bends for the inexperienced driver. The warden who checked us in was very friendly, chatty and understanding.

Peaceful and Tranquil Park Coppice Coniston

Arrived Sunday afternoon and received a lovely warm welcome from the wardens. Enjoyed the peace and tranquility the site offered with added bonus of visiting Deer each morning grazing in the grounds. Easy walks to local pubs which served great food and beer, highly recommend The Black Bull serves food all day every day of the week. Weather held up for the week only had one morning of rain so enjoyed visits to Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Kendal supporting local businesses. The wardens work really hard and site was immaculate at all times and always took time out to say hello and engage in conversations with visitors. Thank you for a lovely week away keep up the good work!

What a fantastic site

I love the Lake District and normally stay around Ullswater as it's stunning and generally much quieter than Windermere. I always fancied the idea of trying Coniston area and was delighted to find this site through the club. The added bonus of half price during week nights! I can't fault the place. Very friendly greeting when I arrived, large site with loads of hard standing all nestled in various terraces in and amongst the trees. Was told I could pretty much go where I wanted except where the site was cordoned off (due to low season). Facilities were spotless and the showers were particularly good with large changing area so you don't get your clothes wet. Beautiful location only short distance from Coniston village which can be accessed via various footpaths. Visited a couple of the local hostelries which were very welcoming and had nice selection of beers to sample. I will definitely be going again, preferably out of season as I love the peace and quiet, although I expect it will be glorious in the spring when all the trees are green.

Second visit just as good as the first

This is the second time we have visited the park and found it just as we remembered. we stayed over the half term week as we wanted to see the power boats, and although it was full and very busy with lots of happy children it still felt quiet and peaceful. The site location is ideal for walking into Coniston with the dogs, where most of the pubs allow the dogs in, and with gorgeous walks around the lake too. We were also ideally located to watch the power boats which whizzed past at breakneck speeds. We took our chairs down to the lake and sat and watched for most of the days. Although we don't make full use of the facilities when we do they are spotlessly clean. The site staff are very friendly and helpful, welcoming us in their Halloween costumes!! There is a pizza and fish and chip bar based in the entrance to the site which is useful and delicious. One of the big attractions of this site is that we hardly ever have to get the car out.

Superb site

Third time we have stayed here and we have enjoyed every minute. Our five nights last week were during a half term period and I was glad I booked well in advance as the site was full on Sunday and Monday nights! We enjoyed a couple of days watching the Power boats attempting several speed records, a walk all the way round Coniston and just one day using the car to go to Keswick. This site is ideal for us because we can walk, cycle or just enjoy the peace of the site. Tarn Hows is an easy walk or cycle ride and makes a pleasant day out without the car. The lovely staff made a lot of effort to entertain children (and us actually) by dressing up for the day on Wednesday and hosting a halloween event in the evening. As with all the club sites we have visited, the facilities blocks are outstanding - spotlessly clean, warm and well provisioned. Looking forward to our next visit! First time we have experienced a full site because we usually holiday outside of school holiday periods, but we were very impressed how quiet and spacious it still felt. The site is huge (262 pitches I think) but so well broken up that you are only really aware of the two or three vans nearby. Beware of children on bicycles when driving up the hill on a bend - we had a very close miss with a child wizzing down the main hill, thankfully we were abiding by the 5mph rule and were therefore able to stop instantly and the child managed to avoid colliding into the front of our car (just) and potentially suffering serious injury - parents with young children please take some time to explain this danger!

Coniston with all its history and character is a bit special!

A lovely site well situated for Coniston Water which can be accessed straight out of the site. The site is huge and so the pitches tend to be generous and although almost full, never felt crowded. The adjacent bridleway walks us into Coniston village in about twenty minutes. Plenty of pubs and cafes. A fair selection of retail shops. There was a water sport event taking place timing jet skis and motor boats, really exciting and noisy! We did not want to walk the high peaks so we walked to Hawkshead a really nice walk to a beautiful village. Tarn Hows is also a walk away and well worth visiting. The Lake District is always worth a visit, Coniston with all its history and character is a bit special, have a great visit.

Stunning site!

This is a beautiful wooded site. Pitches are arranged in small groups which makes it feel very secluded. (If you don't like shade and trees then don't stay here) The on site shop is well stocked, and the Pizza van on Saturday night was very welcome! Staff were lovely (as expected from CMC) Shower blocks and facilities beautifully clean. I really can't fault the site. An easy walk into Coniston village meant we could leave our Camper on site and really enjoy a day with no worries about parking. Perfectly located for access to the Lakes and the Peaks. We enjoyed walks in the Langdale Valley, as well as a trip to Windermere. So many things to see and do that I can guarantee we will be returning.
