Lovely site

Arrived Thursday for the Easter break and staff very friendly and welcoming. Large site with hard standing and some pitches a little uneven but in woodland so beautiful and fairly quite. Several toilet blocks all very clean and well maintained and excellent facilities throughout the site. The site is approx mile and half from Coniston village but a lovely walk either through the bottom of the site through Coniston hall past the lake to the village or follow the old railway line near to reception. The village has shops, spar, co-op, pubs etc etc so plenty to go to if you need more than the on site shops provide. The WiFi is shocking however, we were there 4 days and only managed to get on for an hour once. A pizza/ fish and chip van is on site at weekends that is organised chaos and the service was shocking. Very expensive (person front had 2 pizzas, fish & chips, portion of chips was £33 !) .service was that bad several of us walked away. However in General great site, great location and would recommend.

Amazing site! Well worth the visit!

We planned an early Easter holiday here, with both sons and both grandkidz. A long drive from Leafy Surrey, but well worth the trip! We had watched a video concerning the access road, not sure what route they chose but I found no difficulty at all, okay the roads are narrow in places, but well posted and easy enough to tow a caravan along if you look ahead and give way when you can! The site itself is well managed by helpful and polite staff, the layout is much more 'feral' than other CMC sites we have visited, but this serves to add to its charm! Having told reception at our late but not too late arrival, that small ones would be joining us later, it was recommended we use the red and white barrier to the bottom part of the site, where there were families with young kids. This was excellent advice, we pitched up on 172 and the grandkidz had made many friends within hours of arriving! Close to both play areas, it was very easy to keep tabs on them. A well stocked shop, and the Co-Operative store in nearby Coniston meant we were well supplied with food and drink, including the odd glass of wine! Facilities were beautifully clean and tidy, strangely they were locked and required a key to access, although 2 keys were supplied it was hard remembering to take one when performing caravan husbandry like water, waste water and chemical toilet, although opposite the block I often forgot key so couldn't use toilet whilst there? I could wash hands though, as both Laundry and Dishwashing rooms were unlocked. I love the fact that the laundry machines had a rinse and spin option, perfect after handwashing clothes in the sinks provided. The location is perfect for exploring Coniston Water, walks are easy and fun, especially along toward Coniston village. The fields contained other campers, and sheep, so doggins had to stay on her lead, perhaps the only negative was that there was nowhere we could let her off leash to run free. Overall, an amazing site, with plenty to do, good for families with youngsters! We had an amazing time, and would certainly return in a heartbeat!

Fabulous site

Plenty to love about parc coppice. You get a lovely warm welcome from the wardens, the site is spotless and the only problem is deciding which pitch is the best as there’s so much choice. The pitches are defined by clearings in the trees/coppice, the site slopes down towards the lake, with a couple of play areas for kids and spotless washrooms. A 30 minute walk north along the lake and through farmland takes you to picturesque Coniston, relatively unspoiled with plenty of eating establishments and a base for walks of varying grades / difficulties. A fantastic site, highly recommended and a credit to the wardens and cc.

Family week in the Lakes

We have just had an amazing week in the Lake District thanks to the wonderful site at Coniston. It is well managed and the facilities are second to none, they are extremely clean, modern and excellently maintained. The pitches are split up among the the tree at various levels through the site with a choice for large groups, places by the children’s play area for families or the quiet secluded spots for peace. The choice is perfect for all. Even though we had heavy rain on a night the site remained dry and clean due to the slate chipping laid for each plot. The office and shop were well staff and they were all very friendly. Thank you to all the staff on site for a wonderful stay.

NEVER DISAPPOINTS

This site never disappoints, set in National Trust woodland on the side of Coniston Water, it’s so peaceful. The woodland is undergoing coppicing by the NT, and has opened out the views on areas of the site. The pitching areas are all slate hardstsndding giving good drainage. Site facilities are first class and maintained to a very high standard, and all now cleaned in the afternoon Walking from site is excellent and there are plenty of pubs in walking distance, both in Torver and Coniston. It’s a site we have visited for 26 years and it’s certainly will be visiting again.

Another Great Stay

Welcoming site, friendly, helpful and engaging staff when asking for any advice. Plenty of pitches to choose from depending if you have an awning or not. The staff maintain the usual high standard of cleanliness within all area, its just a bit shameful and disappointing to continue to mix with campers who leave the ability to 'flush & look & flush again' at their homes!! Plenty to do in the local area with fell walks or just a ramble into Coniston and Trover. Overall great site and one we use a few times.

Quiet, spacious lakeside site

Coniston Park Coppice is a large site with spacious pitches set in woodland. The layout is excellent in that there are small bays of 3 or 4 pitches rather than straight rows, offering privacy. A short walk down to the lakeside, it is ideal for walking both into Coniston and Torver. Both villages have very good pubs which serve food. The site staff are welcoming and friendly and approachable for advice or a chat. The shower/toilet block (of which there are 3 strategically placed on site) are kept spotlessly clean. There is a small shop on site which sells the usual basic necessities and also local artisan bread, bacon and sausages! Excellent location for all types of walking - be it lakeside, over the moor, or for the adventurous up The Old Man. Within easy access of the launch around the lake too. Highly recommend it. Will be back later in the year.

Fantastic stay in March 2019

This site is fantastic. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are very good. The only thing is the usual problem with the other people staying at the site. Why can’t all keep the facilities clean and tidy as they would except to find them. Every thing is supplied for us all to help each other. It only takes seconds to quickly clean after use ready for the next user.

out 1st ever caravaning adventure

We have just got back from our 1st caravan adventure (11th March) and what a place to start our experience . Staff are brilliant and always stopped for a chat , and even helped us out getting use to using the water and waste stations (caravaning virgins) The site is clean and tidy , the shower block we used were clean and had everything you need. Well now onto the area... What can we say it was stunning with great walks for us and our pooch even with driving rain/sleet and snow it took our breath away . We are sat here now booking our next trip there . Would recomend this site to all our family and friends .

Top-notch site open all year round

My wife and I visited this site for a week in March 2019. We were fortunate to have great weather and despite the trees being still bare at that time of year the site was very pretty and well-kept. The toilet blocks are well-equipped, well-heated and clean. The service points are also well-equipped and are conveniently located. Quite a busy site with comings and goings but provide late arrival bays to keep things peaceful. Short walk from the lake-side and decent footpaths in both directions to the local villages. The journey to the site following the directions in the handbook is a little challenging at times, with roads being narrow and winding in places -- inexperienced drivers should take things slow for about 6 miles until you get to the site. There is not too much to do in the local area but there are some nice walks and you can always drive to Ambleside in about 15 minutes. The village of Coniston also has a petrol station and a Spar and Co-Op for supplies. We recommend the "Our Plaice" fish shop but not the "Ship Inn". No atmosphere at the latter and low-quality frozen food. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
