Lovely site with good amenities and ideal location. We ended up next the small children’s play park because there weren’t many pitches left. We assumed, with small children of our own, that this would be quiet after a reasonable time in the evening, However, groups of older children were playing noisily on the park until around 10.30/11pm. We complained to a warden and a sign was put up saying ‘no ball games. Playground closes at 10pm’ but no one adhered to this and the problem got worse, rather than better. I understand that children need to have a place to play on holiday but this was a toddler park and large groups were kicking footballs (some of which hit our van) and screaming until very late. Sadly, this affected our stay. We would visit again but make sure we stayed well away from this area.
Good but poor pitches
First time we have stayed at this site. (Mid July hottest week so far this year)
Very good location and easy walk to Coniston lake or village.
Although not a club issue I found the journey towards the site rather hair raising at times due to people double parking on bends and leaving very little room for outfits to fit though.
The site was very welcoming and we were quickly booked in.
However on driving around the site I had trouble finding a suitable sized pitch for my set up.(I only have an average sized 4 berth van with awning).
After driving around several times I managed to locate a pitch (227) and set up.
We then had a walk around the site to get our bearings and could see several caravans or motorhomes driving around and around obviously looking for a suitable sized pitch in which to park.
I have to say that the pitches are overdue a refurb' as some are very small with the woodland encroaching onto the parking area, some 'white peg' pitches would struggle to fit on a caravan, awning and car and other pitches fall away into the woodland.
That said we had a very enjoyable stay with Coniston lake being only a 10 minute walk through the site. Windermere was also close by and we found it easier to turn right out of the site and make our way to the ferry rather than the longer drive by turning left.
As mentioned above regarding pitch sizes, we left on the Friday evening but just prior to hitching up I saw a family with caravan drive past us four times, when they past a fifth time I flagged them down and they were also frustrated that they could not find a suitable sized pitch (this was there first time at the site). Once explained that we were leaving they waited and then claimed our spot.
So in summary a nice clean site but pitches overdue a refurb'
Will definitely be back
I recently visited the site for the first time for some road cycling and hiking. The site location is perfect, right next to Coniston water and the village itself is within easy walking distance if you wanted to pop to the pub one night. I really like the concept of being able to pick your own pitch. I was a bit apprehensive about this at first and spent a little bit of time drivng around to find a pitch but looking back I think it's a great idea and gives you complete freedom. There's an onsite food truck by reception which does really great pizza (perfect after a days cycling). I'll definitely be back again soon to this site.
Thankyou to Mick and Barry
After a disaster happend,my wind in awning would not wind in as we where about to leave, so after a 3 hour wait for a no show enginner these two Barry and Mick played a blinder, they in blistering heat got the awning back in and secured it for the trip home, they would not take any reward so again Mick and Barry you where brilliant thank you so much.

First time oldies
First time caravanning lovely site, staff friendly booking in very easy . Utilities very clean ,cleaned every day . Lovely walks around and lots to do . Views around are amazing. Will be back.
Second visit - more to come
Great woodland site with lovely clean facilities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our 2nd visit and looking forward to more to follow.... love The Lake District.
Amazing location close to Coniston Water
We loved our stay in Coniston Park Coppice, the closeness to the lake and the town made it a perfect place to do many activities. We cycled to town and also walked to town (only 30 mins away). Lots of water activities available in the town.
The site is located in woodland which makes it even more special.
The main issue is you have to book in advanced we only managed to find 2 nights. Will definitively be visiting again.
FIRST VISIT
The wardens, upkeep of site and facilities were all excellent. The drive over motorhome waste was a dream!
As previous reviews mention, the pitches are all under trees (hence the site name of course). The site is large and we found it difficult to find a level-ish pitch suitable for the length of our motorhome and also near to our two groups of friends in camper vans. Being under trees gives the constant dripping after rain and the leaf/twig mess also associated with that on the canopy and groundsheet.
Although Coniston village itself was a little disappointing, Coniston Water and a ride on the National Trust's Steam Yacht - Gondola was a treat. A lovely site for walkers and with direct access to the beautiful 'lake' itself.
Unfortunately, we arrived from Keswick and the road to the site, although a 'B' road was pretty narrow and testing. The road out to the south was less so.
With less interaction with the warden team because of Covid, we didn't even realise the site had a nice shop, hidden around the corner from reception; I imagine it was mentioned on the paperwork, but a sandwich board might be a good advert. There was a pizza truck and a fish & chip truck on site - we had the fish and chips were excellent.
Perfect sense of the outdoors
We stayed for a long weekend with the intention of walking and trying out our Kayak. Ended up only walking a little and kayaking a lot - my wife is still complaining about her arms days afterwards!
Beautiful location, love the fact that each pitch is very different, giving a slightly quirky feel - in a good way. No formal, precise perfect lines of vans to be seen! With the wonderful setting in the woods, it was so easy to feel relaxed, enjoying the clean fresh air.
Facilities were clean and well maintained. Water pressure good, and Electric supply nice and stable (no trips).
Coniston is also a lovely place (ace museum) to visit as well as the surrounding area. We will definitely be returning.
Oh, and the staff were very friendly and helpful too - keep up the good work!
Wonderful site amongst the woods and close to lake and Coniston village
This has got to be one of the best sites we’ve visited with the Caravan Club. Location is superb and plenty to do in area. The pitches are a great size and many are very private.
Take your bike and cycle round lake Coniston.
Will definitely be back.
