Wonderful Site

Great location, friendly staff. Plenty of nicely located pitches, close to the amenities, play areas or lake. Fantastic showers. Lovely location for the lake and great paths nearby. Our go-to in the lakes.

First time on a club site

Having recently joined the club, this was our first booking, and we weren’t disappointed. It was quiet and the pitches are well spaced. The only criticism we had was having paid for WIFI, it wasn’t available on all pitches. We enjoyed the 2 nights we had booked and decided to stay an extra night. We had to move to another pitch, which was no problem at all, but the second pitch had no internet reception, so if this is important to you, choose your pitch carefully. Other than that we had a great stay.

First Timers

Just returned from 6 x nights in our tourer. First time on this site. Watched a few videos and read the reviews in preparation. Found the approach roads from the south reasonably good, not too stressful and no particularly tight spots. Staff on arrival were great. What took us by surprise was the difficulty in finding a suitable pitch without knowing the layout. Short of driving round and round in a procession, you end up grabbing a pitch and think about sun direction, water point and toilet block proximity as an afterthought. The roads are steep in places and there are not many pitches that you don’t need levelling blocks/ramps on. Despite it being a woodland site, there were some pitches that were fairly open, i.e. a clearing with a number of pitches in a horseshoe. Access by foot to Coniston, Torver and the lake is easy. Access to the lake is through the Coniston Hall camp site which looked more like the Reading Festival on several of the days we were there! Made us really glad we were CAMC members.

Second visit this Year

We first visited this site in May and enjoyed it so much we came back for a second visit. We took our electric bikes on the back of the Motorhome and had great fun exploring the many bikes paths. Thanks to one of the ladies on reception we found the second part of the old railway line to walk from the site to Coniston- this is not that obvious and had eluded us on our first visit. The facilities were beautifully clean and the small shop had all the essentials. We didn’t try the mobile pizza and fish and chip van. The weather was so good we swam in the Lake which was a bonus. The only small niggle was the constant stream of caravan and campers coming into our “cul de sac” when there was no spaces and having to turn round and go back. We felt like putting up a sign on the main road saying pitchs all taken dont turn down. We tried to book for a week but could only get 4 nights but then whilst we were on site more nights became available - I think this is a common problem with the Motorhome Club people book loads of sites then cancel unfortunately we couldn’t change our plans last minute but will bear this in mind for the future. The tv signal wasn’t brilliant but if you have a long aerial cable you can plug in on site which would solve the problem. Lovely to lift your blind and see a doe and her youngster a few yards from the Motorhome we watched them for quite a while whilst eating our breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit.

Short break

Lovely area. Didn’t like the pitches due to varying shapes, sizes and slopes. Watching people navigate the site several times looking for a pitch is tedious. Cleanliness is very good as is the location. It’s very dark on most of the pitches if it’s cloudy day due to the canopy cover from the trees. Nice site overall but not for us

Great Site

We really enjoyed this site, it's built in sloping woodland with the pitches levelled out between the trees. It's not your usual manicured CC site but it's all the better for that. The site is set out in different areas, the ones at the top of the site, to the right of the entrance, being quieter in our opinion. This is a great site for kids so if you like peace and quiet, find one of the quieter areas. The toilet blocks were clean but there were a number of cubicles closed. At first we thought they were still closed for Covid but then we saw a sign saying 'Closed due to essential maintenance'. I have to correct you on that one, whenever things are closed, it's always due to LACK of essential maintenance. It's a shame because it's the only thing we didn't like about the site, the staff were great, facilities were clean and it's just a short walk to the lake. One tip I'd give you, some of the pitches aren't as level as on some other sites, so make sure you've got good levelling ramps. We'll definitely be back.

Fantastic site

Beautiful setting and very friendly wardens right from check in to giving advice and general site contact. We were in the green barrier area which is quieter than the red barrier area due to the children's play area was there. Toilet and showers were spotless and shower had good power. I had WiFi throughout the site. TV ariel point didn't work but our little mobile ariel did with perfect picture. Fab location for walking, ( old man of coniston) less than a mile away. Lake access brilliant. Overall a fantastic stay and will be back.

Ideal Location for Walking & Cycling

A first visit to Park Coppice and I will definitely return. Selected primarily for access to the Coniston Fells which couldn't have been better. Access to the fells was easy using a good footpath from Little Arrow. Easy off-road access to Coniston village either via the lakeside, or via an old railway line path. I didn't get to cycle on this visit, but not due to a lack of cycling options of which there are many, including off-road mountain bike trails for all levels. I particularly liked the informal layout of the site when compared to more regimented ones. As is the norm for the club, excellent on-site facilities and I was particularly impressed with the motorhome service points. A surprisingly peaceful stay when considering that my visit coincided with the height of the school holiday season, plus a year when so many are 'staycationing' due to Covid. The early evening food van at the gate, alternating between pizza and fish & chips, was a handy option if not wanting to prepare food or visit the village after a long day out.

Good for water sports

We’ve been to this site a few times, and always enjoy our stay. This time we brought paddle boards and played for hours in the sun on Coniston water, which is at the bottom of the site. We had a good number of Sunny days before the weather changed to rain, and when it rains in the lakes, it rains! The walk into Coniston is pleasant (Via the lakeside) and not too long, where there’s a few pubs and some shops. There’s a food van on site that’s open Tues-Sat selling pizza & Fish n Chips on alternate nights, which looked nice but were very pricey at £10 for F&C and more for pizza. The toilets were closed for cleaning for a lot longer (11am-12:45 at our block,3 blocks in total) than in previous stays which is apparently for the extra cleaning due to the pandemic, but we’ve not come across this at many other C&M sites this year and certainly not for that long. The site has a lovely woodland feel, but some pitches are in desperate need of an update as they are either far too small or on quite a steep incline. We’ve got a large outfit so we are always worried we’ll not find a large enough pitch. All in all another great week away in the lakes!

Lovely location but pitch away from the park

Lovely site with good amenities and ideal location. We ended up next the small children’s play park because there weren’t many pitches left. We assumed, with small children of our own, that this would be quiet after a reasonable time in the evening, However, groups of older children were playing noisily on the park until around 10.30/11pm. We complained to a warden and a sign was put up saying ‘no ball games. Playground closes at 10pm’ but no one adhered to this and the problem got worse, rather than better. I understand that children need to have a place to play on holiday but this was a toddler park and large groups were kicking footballs (some of which hit our van) and screaming until very late. Sadly, this affected our stay. We would visit again but make sure we stayed well away from this area.
