Commons Wood Review

Great location. Well kept with friendly wardens. A downside is the very poor intermittent internet connection which has been poor for a considerable time.

Nice site, Convenient for London

Nice site, fairly quiet and with good facilities. Close to Cricket ground, Golf Club and with easy access to local shops and railway station. Only 1/2 hour to London, Kings Cross, so a trip to the sights of London is easy. Also only 1/2 hour by road from Harry Potter exhibition at Warner Studio Tours, near Watford - well worth a visit, especially if you have children. Friendly Wardens keep the site well maintained and clean.

excellent site

We stayed here for two nights and were really pleased with the site. It was very quiet and the facilities were clean and warm. The staff were very helpful. there was a nice pub 5 minutes walk but other than that we did not explore the immediate area.

another great site

Lovely little site within minutes of the A1. We spent a weekend here without awning or dogs to see a show. The site was as clean as you would expect and the wardens very helpful and friendly to us and our visitors. Taxi to the station was about £6 each way and the train into London and all day tube with a return was £28 for a family of four which we thought was good. Would stay again to visit London but we didn't see any of the local area.

The Paulo's @ Common Wood

A great location for visiting London - the train service to Kings Cross from Welwyn Garden only takes 30 mins - the fare off peak (to include use of the Tube) is around £12 for a day ticket - driving into London is best avoided - there is a good supermarket nearby so all survival needs are catered for - the shower block is kept clean - much appreciated. I prefer this site to ones within Greater London - it's a real chore driving a caravan around any large city.

Another good weekend

We have visited this site now on 6 occasions and it never fails to impress. Good location near to A1. Wardens pleasant and efficient, pitches excellent and wash block facilities typical Caravan Club i.e.very good. Only downside to our latest visit was the poor WiFi (of which we were warned). We will no doubt visit again soon.

A Very Pleasant Site

This is a great site to visit. I spent the weekend enjoying the peaceful walks through the nearby woods with my Lhasa Apso.  The site is very clean, well maintained and the staff are the best you could possible ask for. Always worth a visit.

Great welcome and site but...

This is an excellent site, just as all caravan clubs are. It is handy if you are in transit as it's close to the A1M. All facilities, such as supermarkets are close by, with the additional advantages of reasonable access to London and Cambridge.  The wardens are lovely people, who always make you feel welcome.  However, I do feel it a little remiss of the club to fail to notify us of quite major electrical work being done whilst we were on site. Our first morning dawned with the electricity being cut off at 8.30am. Checking the cause, we found workmen disconnecting and digging up our hookup! Bad! Not only was our kettle on for our morning cuppa, but the workmen never even told us. Unhappy campers!  This whole scenario continued throughout our stay. Access to electricity was intermittent throughout our stay. We took the warning sign in the toilets seriously and removed ourselves from the site from 9am to 6pm on the Saturday 17th Jan. Thank the big man in the ether that we were due to leave soon as we suffered more power cuts - which a new sign in the toilets indicated would last until 28th Jan. Surely work of this nature is scheduled in advance and so potential customers could have been advised? Commons Wood 5 - Caravan Club systems 0
