Great site for touring Snowdonia.

Mountains, forests and Great Little Trains. Not much in the way of decent beer but that's not the reason we came so no disappointment there. Pity about the Bryn Arms, it was the site of one of N.Wales' 1st. micro-breweries back in the 90's: not worth visiting now if you like proper craft beer. Otherwise, plenty to do and see if you're prepared to get out and about in the motor but not a lot just walking from the site.

Lovely Site!

We chose this site as I had a trip to Zip World planned. Booking in was easy and the wardens were very pleasant. Although the site was full whilst we there, it didn't feel busy and was very calm and peaceful. We didn't use the toilet block (preferring to use our own facilities) so can't comment on them but the site overall looked cared for. Plenty of walking straight from the site with an easy path down to the lake (about a mile and a half one way). We only had four days but there was no shortage of places to visit in the area and we will definitely be back. Thanks for a great stay.

A Really Lovely Site !

Although our Garmin did not take us straight to this site and we got a bit lost (operator error ! ) the staff called us to check where we were and stayed on site until we had arrived safely they did not take our payment when we arrived being more interested in getting us settled in safely, we were told to call in and pay up before 4pm the next day ! The next day when I did call in to pay up the lovely lady in the site shop gave me detailed information on nice walks with additional tips to help us enjoy the walk, basically we were totally impressed with the site location, the pitches it is perfect and we will be going back. On arrival we noticed a superb Red Dragon fixed at the entrance we have purchased 2 dragons from the web site recommended so an extra 'Thank you' for that

Plenty to see and do

We had a seasonal pitch then 5 nights away at another location then back for a further 10 nights . In all we have visited this site 6 times over the past 5 years. So goes without saying we like it. Of cause though difficult times with Covid regulations. From the start of our holiday when we were given the green light to cross the border into Wales we were self sufficient as the shows/toilets were closed. We decided to remain that way as we thought better all round . The staff on the site were very helpful, pleasant and polite, this made our stay all the more enjoyable. If you like hiking, bike riding and nature this is the place to visit. Definitely be back. Thanks.

Nice site

Stayed for one night in June. Lovely quiet site, but as in some other reviews, the main problem is the toilet /shower facilities. Obviously a lot of this is down to the pandemic, but if you don't want to queue for a shower in the morning, have one at night. The pub across the road does fabulous food and is worth a visit. The lady in reception was really lovely, very efficient, and gorgeous too. Will stay here again if in the area.

Peaceful setting

Lovely peaceful site ideal for visiting Snowdonia and the Lyn peninsula. Views over farm land , pitches set among trees with plenty of space between units. Can do several walks from the site .Pub across the road although we never tried it. On arrival the wardens were pleasant and helpful to me , however one of our party had arrived before us and were told very rudely to go, even though they had offered to pay. The toilet block was restricted in numbers due to covid but no real problems to use it. The only complaint re the facilities was the bin area near to us which was frequently full with rubbish left outside. This either needs to be emptied more or larger bins left there as every day by evening the rubbish was piled up which is not really acceptable.

Dirty facilities

The toilets and showers were dirty. No toilet paper or hand sanitizer . we told the office when we left, and were told they only clean those areas once a day due to Covid. Surely during a pandemic the bare minimum should be twice a day , then hourly checks to make sure all is ok, (even McDonalds manage to do this) ! Not really what I'd expect for £27 a night.

Fantastic Stay

We spent two nights here and wish we’d stayed longer. Absolutely gorgeous area with a stunning walk right from the site and easy access to North Wales. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Not a complaint but a heads up for anyone traveling during COVID restrictions- there is only one toilet block and you’re limited to two people at a time so there could be a bit of a queue at times- obviously this isn’t a fault of the wardens or the site but just a heads up.

7 night stay.....

Rescheduled from last year due to 1st lockdown..... booked to stay here to revisit old camping sites from 35/40 years ago.... Within easy reach of many places within Snowdonia & surrounding areas. Quiet site, with the Bryn Arms literally across the road, with access gained from a purpose built path. We ate there twice, portion sizes are excellent, although they did overdo my steak the 2nd time. Be aware, this is the only 'attraction' in the village so it is popular with the locals & service can be a little slow..... Major grocery stores are 10 miles away in Porthmadog. Staff were very friendly. I cannot comment on shower/toilet block as these were still restricted. I would revisit.

Early morning wake up

DO NOT pitch in numbers 10 to 15 unless you love being woken up every morning at 4.30. Numerous cockerels/chicken/geese/turkeys in field opposite. This is something maybe the Wardens could warn you about when booking in. Apart from the early morning wake up calls this is a great site and ideally located for visiting all areas of North Wales.
