Shower facilities are desperately in need of upgrade.

The shower/wash room facitlites are in deperate need of a complete rennovation having few hooks to hang clothes and no benches in the showers to keep anything off the floor and dry. No shower curtains either! I honestly don’t remember when I had a worse showering experience and it was an absolutely dreadful start to every day not to mention the door code of 4 numbers and 2 letters which is extremely difficult to remember ( unless you take your phone with you and then there is nowhere to put it down inside ) and hard for people with arthritic hands to use. Otherwise, the site is very peaceful and there are lots of nearby walks and a great pub with really lovely staff.

Pleasant site

Beautiful location. Well laid out site, Staff are friendly. Nice pub across the road. Only down side is the toilet block. Still under covid regulations so only 2 allowed in the shower block at the same time. This proves a nightmare for those without a toilet. The other toilets were closed due to maintenance which is very annoying. I also felt that the block needed cleaning more than once a day with the same toilets and showers being used consistently.

Great site and location.

We loved this site. Loads to do nearby. Pub on the door. Staff are friendly and super helpful. A bit anal on parking protocol. If you book a pitch without awning, you're going to feel a bit left out without if you don't have one. The lake is beautiful. I would recommend. Showers might be in need of an update, but they're clean, powerful, so realistically what more do you want?

Full site but limited Facilities

Site was virtually full, but half of the facilities were closed for 'essential maintenance ' ? If it is essential, why is it taking so long to complete ? When we were here last year, the whole facilities block was closed because 'the boilers were broken' Now nearly a year later, and in full season use, still not completely fixed ? What is going on ? NOT the Wardens fault, they just manage with what they provided with. A good site in a beautiful area, not being given a fighting chance, yet through it all, it is thriving, needs investment badly...and soon, come on Club, Give Members what they are paying for, quality facilities.

Pleasant Stay

This site was laid out nicely with a choice of areas tucked away on different levels, with trees and foliage. Could be a little tricky in some places, if you have a large outfit and some pitches are on a very slight incline from the road through the site. We were there during the hottest week - temps hit 30degs some days and so had to be mindful where we could go with a dog that kept us off pavements and in the shade. At these temperatures though, most afternoons were spent sitting in the shade onsite. We tended to use our van facilities but did pop in to the shower block once and they do seem rather dated. The wardens were fairly helpful, although the lady warden did bark in a loud voice to ‘put your dog on the lead’, when he was walking calmly from the van into our car as we were on the way out. Surely this is extreme, when no nuisance occurred. The dog walk was small but perfect for morning and evening ablutions - kept clean and clear of mess. The information hut had no information leaflets, due to covid, we were told by another camper - which seems ridiculous now as many restrictions are lifted and you can find lots of tourist leaflets in the local Lidl at Porthmadog. There is a pub directly opposite the site with a nice garden where again, you can take your dog. Noisy fowl at nearby smallholding! So watch where you pitch! Nice play area for children but never saw it used whilst there.

Needs updating

Not an ideal site for Motorhome as public transport very limited Nice cycle around lake and pleasant pub across the road Lady warden was very helpful and welcoming Toilets and showers not up to standard and need updating Won’t return as better sites in better locations around Snowdonia Overall disappointing site

Who needs a flight to have perfect relax?

With U.K. foreign travel being very much up in the air at the moment. We decided to take a very much needed week’s leave and travelled to Snowdonia Nation Park. In our minds we had envisioned inclement weather, but the weather really surprised us. Clear sunny and mid 20s for all but two of the days! We arrive much earlier than the acceptable check in time ( we left early and it was a good 6 hour drive) but had been prepared to sit for an hour and eat our packed lunch. The lovely staff said that although check in wasn’t until after 1pm they were a handful of paces already available if we wanted to check in (Thank you very much) Campsite itself was spotless and very busy but never once felt over crowded. We were greeted with a raft of information and outing ideas The amount of things to occupy old and young alike here is unsurpassable. We crammed so much into Thame week from Steam train journey to Beddgelert, walking the coastal path around Porthmadog, the recommended walks from the campsite to the beautiful Black waterfall in one direction and to the Trawsfynydd lake. These were all fantastic and so beautiful but my highlights of the holiday were wild swimming in the waterfall lake (recommended by the wardens), climbing Pyg path and reaching the summit of Snowdon….and finally the Velocity 2 zip line and down hill quarry carting.. You really could ask for a more memorable holiday during these crazy times. We will return!

Lovely site with limited bathroom facilities under covid

This was a lovely site that was well located for both walking and cycling. The staff were friendly and helpful. However the Covid restrictions meant only 2 women could use any washing facilities at a time which was not enough for 90 pitches. Opening the second bathroom block would have been helpful. There were plentiful washing up facilities although confusingly no bins near the sinks for food waste. The poultry farm next door could be noisy at times. The area was pretty and the restaurant opposite the entrance was supposed to be lovely, although we were not organised enough to book ahead.

Fist visit to North Wales for 40years

Spent a week at this site. It was an absolute pleasure, toilet block although seemed dated where immaculate. Site team very helpful and had a smile. There is so much to do locally a week wasn’t long enough. Site on different levels made it seem quite spacious but was full all the time. Bryan arms was less than a stones throw away and an easy stagger back. Nice walk to reservoir for coffee and cake, also walk to waterfall. All in all a very very nice place to relax.

Lovely first visit to this site

Only stayed here for 3 nights, but enjoyed it so much and we will definitely be back! We found the wardens very pleasant and always chatted when we bumped into them. As the previous reviewer pointed out there are a few 'noisy' pitches from the birds in the smallholding opposite the road so best to avoid those if you can? The downside here is that there is only one block of facilities and currently only 2 people allowed in at a time but having said that I never had to wait long for them and hopefully things will open up fully soon anyway and they are slightly dated. We ate at the Bryn Arms literally across the road and the food was lovely so can recommend that. Will we return? Most definitely!
