What's happened to clumber park?

The recent reviews for the site have been the worse I've seen in the last few years we have been visiting what we have regarded as one of our favourite sites. On our last trip here in April the standards of the site and the friendliness of the wardens were top notch as usual and the only negative was the extended close down time of the toilet blocks. Has there been a new change of wardens or some other factor?  Booked to visit in July so will be watching future reviews with interest!

Unkempt, un-clean!

Have stayed at this site previously and am a regular visitor. I've never seen this site look such a complete mess!! The grass has been left uncut; a foot high in places! So much so, it covered the signs completely by the road directions around the site! Laziness very evident on the new wardens part. Right from the entrance around the gate, it's plain to see a strimmer attempt around the trees could have been made by a blind man (no disrespect to the partially sited intended) 90% of pitches unkempt and overgrown. No hand soap in the gents loos. Rubbish bin un-emptied! The CL sites I've visited are far better kept with twice the space ( at least) and for less than half the price!

What a shame, what has happened

We have been to Clumber several time and rated it as our favourite site. But, but ,but what has happened the place is in a mess the wardens have no pride in keeping the site up to the standard which we are all used to. Wardens are out of control not on the ground, not working, scruff in appearance not helpful and lazy. Bins not emptied and bin area not cleaned down. Never seen such a site, detrimental to caravan club. Change the lazy bunch of wardens ASAP and get this site back up to point... What a shame  and let down  of standards . Caravan club need to interview wardens with greater care and make sure they are auditing standards . This has made us think twice about joining club next year ....

Mess, mess, mess!

Arrived on 23/5/16 and was astounded at the disgusting state of the site. The grass looked like a wasteland and had not been cut for some considerable time. The bins had not been emptied for sometime and were overflowing. The toilet blocks were tired and in urgent need of revamping and CLEANING!!!! Very very disappointed and would not recommend this site at all. The staff were not particularly helpful and seemed disinterested in their job. This is not Good for the reputation of the caravan club. I do hope that someone with a little power and interest at the caravan club actually reads these reviews, the last few have all been derogatory, and does something about it. I doubt it!! I will complain directly when I get home from my trip but in my experience little will be done.

Great location let down

A great location but the site itself was a let down, normally on all sites we have been to, when somebody leaves, the grass is cut straight away, we were there from Friday 12pm until Monday afternoon and it didn't get cut and was quite long, the men's toilets were never cleaned the whole time and never had hand soap in the dispensers, Along with a few other little things, I would of stayed again but this how now put me off. I wouldn't recommend again.

Drop in overall standards

This is a lovely site in a great location. We have stayed here on numerous occasions for many years. Stayed last weekend and found a drop in site standards since our last stay. The grass is complete mess, it is over grown and out of control. We have never seen the grass so long in all our years of staying here, it actually looked like waste ground in some parts. In all 5 days of our stay I did not see any of the staff on the ground except for the daily bucket emptying collection. The shower blocks are really starting to show there age and use, they look really scruffy, not the staffs fault and I believe an upgrade of facilities is planned. As for the staff, I found them to be very cold and unfriendly not the usual CC Standard to the point they were almost rude, I observe them talking to the member in the pitch next to me and the tone and manner was shocking...it would have not been me being spoken to like that for sure. Still a great site in a great location but standards have certainly dropped greatly since the changing of the guard.

Great Park SHAME ABOUT THE WARDENS

The park is lovely, with great walks. We share a caravan, it has always worked before, with private sites and club sites. When we booked in we BOTH told the male warden when we would be staying and when our son and partner would be staying. WE HAD A RECEIPT FOR THIS SHOWING THE DIFFERENT DATES. When our son came (AFTER 12'00) he was not allowed in or helped and I was asked to go with him to Reception. A woman warden launched herself at me saying she knew nothing about it. Not many people like being told off for something they have not done infront of other members in reception and infront of her grown up son. It seems the male warden had not told her, or filled in all the relevant forms. THE WOMAN WARDEN SAID THIS WAS MY FAULT!!!!!!! Luckily my son and partner (who are also members) had a lovely few days away. I, on the other hand, did not want to come back to stay on this site when we were due to return to stay and then pick up our caravan. Me and my husband have over 60 years experience working for NHS and in Education, if we had ever spoken to people/patients/pupils as this woman did to me, we would be in serious trouble.

Not good for a one night stay

It is a beautiful setting and I would not dispute the reviews that credit it a lovely park but this is not a place I would ever use for a one night stay.  Apart from no telephone network we had to dismantle our secured bikes on the bike rack and store them in the alarmed bike shed just for the night.  This is due to a number of opportunist thieving of bikes etc. at the site and we were strongly advised to store them in the shed....advice you should not ignore but it was extremely inconvenient and a real pain! Especially as it was raining and the bikes had been packed very well as we weren't expecting to use them until we reached the continent.

Avoid At Weekends Unless You Like It Crammed

Stayed for 5 nights from 6 May including a packed site at the weekend. Facilities are a bit tired but adequate, although their use by some visitors left a lot to be desired. The ever increasing problem of speeding cars, plus unsupervised kids on bikes coming at you from all directions was very evident Friday to Sunday. Even driving at less than 5mph I narrowly avoided hitting a very young boy who rode out between pitches straight at me on a one-way stretch. I'm a reasonably sociable guy but I didn't appreciate my pitch being used as a footpath, particularly those that walked between the car & the van. It unfortunately seems to have become a site where anything goes so I'll avoid weekends in future.  There area is still lovely so I'll limit my visits rather than not use the site at all.
