Bike Shed

PUT YOUR BIKES IN THE LOCK UP SHED PROVIDED!! We had our bikes stolen over night -and we weren't the only ones or the first!! We've camped/caravaned for over 20 years and never experienced this before - the access through woods is too easy for passers by to access site. If you want peace on this site, park at top or bottom - not in middle surrounding the kids play ground.

Another view

I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but having read some recent comments about the wardens, I feel I must redress the balance. I think During my visits this year, I have encountered all the wardens and found them to be friendly, chatty and helpful. This site is incredibly busy at weekends and full in school holidays, so that is not the time to come for peace and quiet or a tidy site! The wardens do clean the shower blocks daily, the rest of the time it is incumbent upon visitors to leave them tidy & relatively clean for the next person, sadly many don't! The Wardens cannot be blamed for that!

Oh Dear!

We have been visiting Clumber Park for well over a decade. It is fabulous for walking and cycling (we don't) and very convenient for us to see our grandchildren in Nottingham. We stayed for 12 nights and had a wonderful time with the family. BUT... when we arrived we couldn't believe our eyes at how scruffy and unkempt the site looked from the barriers to all round the site. We learnt that there had been a problem with the mower but it was out briefly the day we arrived and then spasmodically during our stay when there was only one really wet day. It was not up to Caravan Club standards - we have never, ever stayed on a CC site as badly looked after and have stayed on many tidier CLs; if you want to pitch in a field you do it far more cheaply at a CL. Ros and Deborah were very friendly in the shop but otherwise the wardens were anonymous; that's ok if everything is up to scratch but it wasn't. The shower block is a bit tired but we only use it for showering so ok for 5 minutes per day. We are going again in October let's hope it is back to it normal glory then.

Very disappointed...

Clumber is our favorite site on the network - it's 20 mins from home and a real haven for peace and tranquility - but - and it's a big but - we were very disappointed by the state of the site.  The grass was overgrown the shower block dirty and the wardens virtually invisible. We used to joke the previous wardens were very "regimented" and woe betide if u sited out of place but the site was always a delight.  We saw 2 cars to a pitch and you could pretty much put your outfit wherever u fancied..... I don't think I saw the wardens walk round once (despite several bike thefts over the weekend). I'm due back for a week in August and I sincerely hope the standards improve otherwise we will be looking for sites elsewhere! As my friend said - we pay our membership fees and a premium price as we expect a certain standard.

Mmm someone's butt needs kicking!!!!!

Well I wasn't going to bother writing a review  ase in the past ive gave this site nothing but praise but seeing a lot off other comment  from the last few weeks I feel the need to speak as well . We were there last week for five nights and only saw the mower out for about 20 mins on 2days and when I did he came round about 3.00 in the afternoon ???? He was getting people to move cars while he mowed .never seen owt like it why don't he get up in a morning and ride round like  most other sites and cut the grass when people had left there pitch  seems too simple enough said .lovely site but I've these are new wardens then someone needs too step in and put them right before the site gets a bad name .Happy Holiday .

Dissapointed

We returned to this site after some years as our own caravan log showed we enjoyed it here last time. However the site is looking very tired, there were areas of grass not cut, whilst I know it was a mid week visit during the school holiday, expecting it to be noisy with kids, but they were ok, it was irresponsible dog owners who thought it was fine to train there dogs to sleep in the awning with the resulting howling all night and barking when people pass, upsetting van owners in a large radius, this often set others off as well. We are dog owners, but this will only get the backs up of non dog owners, and we may well all suffer in the end if complaints are made to the club, they may feel they have to re-act. !

What's gone wrong

Clumber Park had always been one of our favourite sites and we visit often. On our last visit over the bank holiday weekend we were upset to see the state of the park. Grass not cut very over grown no handwash in gents toilets for 3 days. Some members let there dogs walk off leads between friends pitches making a mess and not being cleaned up.No wardens were seen walking the site at any point during  our 5 night stay. The wardens were not friendly at all and checking in wasn't the welcome I have been used to. Generally a real drop In standards and in the wardens. Lots of reviews saying similar . Do something about it soon. A real shame as the location is beautiful.

None of the problems mentioned by recent reviewers

We are just back from a 2 night stay at the Clumber park site. I was very worried as to what we might find after reading some of the recent reviews but I have to say we didn't experience any of the issues mentioned.  The bins were regularly emptied, the grass cutting guy was going round the site all 3 days. The staff  were friendly and helpful. The toilet block was clean and well stocked with soap and tissue. It's a big site and was busy but we never had to queue for the shower which was hot and not on a timer.  The facilities block might be a bit dated but it's perfectly functional and clean, I've seen far worse.  Yes there were lots of kids on bikes, mine was one of them and she loved it. We pitched right next to the play area, not everyone's ideal pitch but it meant our 6 yr old got a sense of freedom shes not had before. The wardens came round at 10pm to disperse any older kids from the play area so there wasn't a problem with noise.  The fish and chip  van on Friday night was lovely.  There is a big problem  with bike thefts at the site but a free, secure bike shed with cameras has been provided. So use it or lose it. Bikes were taken from awnings, off car roofs and the back of vans so be warned!  There is a lovely short cycle ride down to Clumber park where there is loads to do and a super lunch stop. I'm sure we'll be back to visit this site in the future we had a fantastic technology/mobile free weekend away.

Shame about the Internet and mobile signals

This is a beautiful site if you want to get away and not be contactable by anyone..Internet signal is much the same There is None!! To  get any signal you have to turn left out of the site and walk approx 1/4 mile before you get a signal which if youre caught in the rain you'll get wet so be prepared..overall the site is lovely and the wardens are very helpful...There a telephone box on site but at 60p just to say hello is expensive..bare this in mind if going...you won't be disappointed in the site or grounds of clumber park though they are stunning
